If you appreciate good design and the finer things in life, like to hear the sea roar, the magic of the moons reflection flittering across the waves, love the ruggedness of New Zealands West Coast, the sand between your toes, a splash in the sea, the sun, the wind, quietness, remoteness, expansive sea views, then you will not be disappointed by whiling away a day or so at Ahipara's Beachfront Apartments. Absolutely every thing has been thought of from the beach inspired decor to the games and books provided and if it isnt there Mine Host is only too happy to provide it. But a word of warning You Need To Spend Two Or More Days in this slice of paradise and even then you will find it hard to leave.

Room Tip: Take your own food - excellent kitchen facilities

If you were the kind of couple that loved beach/outdoors travelling with another couple or with parents who enjoyed just quietly reading away while taking in the type of view you never tire of and quiet walks on the beach to the constant sound of waves crashing then this is the place for you.

Paul and Jenny provide a little well-designed oasis in the form of The Lookout Apartment (they have another smaller option also), which is decked out in neutral tones with a splash of beach colour and impeccably clean. The beds were so comfortable they provided a heavenly sleep (also came with plug-in insect deterents should you need them) and I really loved the modern bathrooms in each ensuite - just spot on. The living area with couches and dining table was a perfectly formed size for people looking to be out and about most the day and had pretty much everthing you needed including good quality wine/beer you could purchase if you felt like splashin out or just having a sneaky brew at the end of the day.

Ahipara township itself is quite basic, but in that classic old school kiwi way that you can't help but appreciate the peace even more. There is plenty to do with the impressive stretch of sand which makes up Ninety-Mile Beach, outdoor activities with local tour/adventure companies nearby and Okahu Estate vineyard only a short drive away and serving up some beautiful wines (the delicious Chambourcin blend is a highlight).

Would definitely reccommend the Beachfront Apartments or even go back myself - was just disappointed I couldn't stay longer!

Great accomodation for family or friends sharing. BBQ used so cannot comment on town facilities. Beach trip good.

This property is even more beautiful than the pics. It is beautifully landscaped and cheerfully decorated inside. My only regret was that we couldn't stay a week or more.

Excellent location on the beachfront. Comfortable room with deck. Perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay. Kind host. Good breakfast. Poor restaurant accomodation in the vicinity.
