We booked this holiday as a family hotel and it came strongly recommended by a Thomson travel agent. Never felt so let down as we did upon arrival. No entertainment for nobody, no kids clubs, no children's menu, food that was out was disgusting, staff would have been better suited at faulty towers, hotel was poorly maintained and pool area was dirty. One child had an accident in the pool (diarrhoea) and when reported to staff they informed us that chemicals would clean it that was already in the water (must have been very weak chemicals because it was still floating round four hours later). Plastic cups, plastic spoons and cardboard cups for hot drinks not acceptable. There was no life guard round pool area and all the staff seemed disinterested, except for the two receptionists. We were informed that there was a team of 13 entertainment staff at this hotel last year but they had been pulled out of the hotel. After 3 days of being depressed and vey close to committing something that I would regret we paid £800 euros to be transferred to another hotel to save our holiday. I strongly advise nobody to ever book this hotel as you will be very disappointed.

Like many others we booked this hotel as a Thomson family hotel to find it wasn't when we arrived then having the task of telling our daughter there would be no kids club no Thomson the dog no entertainment. The hotel itself is fine and we found the staff friendly and hardworking. The food was ok with plenty of choice if not a bit repetitive.i didn't really have a problem with the plastic cups that seem to annoy many people. The resort of portinax is a lovely little place with a beautiful beach. We, like many other people have put a complaint into Thomson about pulling the family hotel with no explanation of why. The only entertainment for the children was a 45 min cd of the same music every night. To be fair to the two Spanish entertainers worked hard to entertain the kids with limited resources. We found the Thomson reps pretty useless and their attempt at trying to entertain the bored guests one night was nothing short of embarrassing. A few afternoons a group of dads got together to play some water polo. All in all we still enjoyed our holiday but it wasn't what we signed up for and are awaiting thomsons response to our complaint. If you have booked this hotel be prepared to spend a bit more money going out and about in search of some evening entertainment.

i think it's a nice place to stay and with a very nice view. The beach in front of the hotel it's clean & beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The only negative think is the buffet menu i think they can improve it a bit.

Travelled with my husband, son, daughter -in - law and grandson staying for 1 week in June. Weather was beautiful everyday. Please remember this is a holiday in Ibiza not Barbados. It is a typical 3 star Spanish hotel. Some aspects were poor like the entertainment and quality of drinks (sparkling wine ran out and was never replaced!), however the food was nice and rooms were clean if a bit tatty. The pool area looked at times like a tattoo convention was in town with the amount of people there with tattoo's!! The children's pool was busy and at times older children were a bit rowdy on the slides pushing the babies out of the way with their plastic toys going down the slides but there was no supervision so its only to be expected as some people will let their children run riot and if the the hotel provided supervision this wouldn't happen. Overall we had a nice time and although there are areas that could be improved such as upgraded bedrooms and entertainment it didn't spoil our holiday. If you go with the mindset that this is a 3 star spanish holiday you will not be disappointed. Be prepared for a steep walk to the beach but it is worth it!

What a beautiful resort and the location of the hotel was beautiful overlooking sandy coved beaches. However the Hotel needs to undergo a major overhaul before it goes downhill any further. It is now dated and needs a refurb. Not all facilities were open. The bar in the quiet area wasnt open at all during our stay which is a shame because it was a gorgeous area. Also they kept running out of certain drinks at the weekend. The shower beside the whirlpool didnt work. A lot of people at the Hotel pool stated they were making complaints about the lack of entertainment and children activities. The Thomson reps however needed a medal and extra pay for having to listen to all the complaining. They were great girls. Thomson should pull out of this Hotel until the Management take on board what their guests are saying before its too late. We made the most of our holiday and had a brill time though under the circumstances,They should sort their hotel out though before its too late.

Room Tip: Get a room with seaview

this hotel was advertised as a thomson handpicked hotel!!!! We trusted the thomson name and chose this hotel only to find out from other guests that most of the thomson staff had walked out. this was a big family holiday ranging from great grannies to toddlers. the hotel was clean but that was its only strong point, the food was canteen style with plastic cups and teaspoons. the bar was again plastic cups and the cocktails not how i had been so long looking forward to sipping by the pool, in stead i got a plastic cup with cheap booze and a splash of fruit juice. Entertainment was shocking with the same thing every night. the staff looked like they were very demoralised. The hotel needs to close and undergo a total refurbishment. The walk down to the beach is a feat on its own!!!! not user friendly for most age groups. I will certainly be putting in a complaint to Thomson and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: top floor i would say

We spent a week here, first impression was that the photo's on the Thomson website must have been photo shopped! It didnt get any better from here, the hotel is clean and the all inclusive buffet was good but much choice for children. The staff didn't seem bothered and what I thought was utterly bizarre was the staff pushed in at the buffet to serve themselves then sit at the guest tables to eat it and cleaning staff would try to squeeze into the guest lifts with laundry baskets when guests were trying to use then.

Final straw for me was that the pool didnt close until 8pm but they started to hose down the floors around the pools and bar at 6pm when we refused to move out of the way the cleaner sprayed my one year old daughter with cold water because she was in his way.

Portinatx is a lovely little place with nice bars, restaurants and beaches but the hotel needs shutting down.

Room Tip: Dont go for Sea views its above the kitchen extraction fans
