Just got back from El Presidente and I have to say we had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is basic, but spotlessly clean and the staff and Thomson reps are very helpful and help to make your stay a good one. Plenty of activities and entertainment, with Nathan and his passing resemblance to Russell Brand being involved in almost everything. Not sure why Thomson the dog has a hint of a Dutch accent, but the kids loved him. The nearby beach gives a good alternative to the hotel, although the much mentioned hill does loom large when you have a pushchair and some shopping along with an inflatable dinghy to push up. The drinks are expensive mind, there is no getting away from that.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family holiday.

Picturesque resort. Stunning turquoise sea and safe, clean sandy beach. Lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean. Excellent food, plentiful and varied. Friendly and efficient service from both the hotel staff and the Thomson reps. Plenty of activities for children and teenagers but no pressure to join in if they don't want to. Reps all really friendly and hard working. I liked the fact that there was always a Thomson rep on reception to answer any queries. The fact that the hotel is on top of a very steep hill was a bit of a downside but the beautiful cove at the bottom more than made up for it. The air con in the rooms and dining room was a godsend. They could do with having it in the reception and lounge areas too. The drinks were really expensive. You will go through money like water!

Really enjoyed the holiday which I got late on a cheap deal.

However the prices in the hotel as said by many others are ridiculous. Its also very expensive all over the resort unless you fancy sitting outside a off licence. Thought at the time it must just be because of the Euro.

Went here in May. Also just got back from Majorca. No comparison in prices. Eg in Majorca you could get a pint for 1.50. Think the cheapest in resort in Portinatx was 2.50 in Delboys.

The hotel is clean , has good food , is in a good location (cardiac hill!!! cmon unless you have severe walking difficulties or are elderly this shouldnt be a problem. Its not much of a walk and if you find it a struggle you probably need the exercise ).

Entertainment - they work hard.

Ultimately the pricing lets this hotel down. I would suggest looking elsewhere unless you get a cheap deal. Otherwise prepare to spend a lot or getting your drinks at supermarkets and off licences.

If the pricing was reasonable I would recommend it to families with children. Not the place for couples as children are running around everywhere.

Had a great holiday in resort of Portinax staying at Hotel Presidente. Rooms are basic but did have a lot of storage! Air Conditioning annoying in that it doesn't stay on for longer than couple of hours. Knew we would have to pay for fridge and safe but still felt bit miffed forking out nearly £100 on this on the first day to pay for two weeks hire. There were few little things wrong with room which we reported and they were sorted! And yes the drinks were expensive but they were everywhere! To compare pint of San Miguel was 3 euros 80 at hotel and at a bar in the resort was 3 euros. Best place for icecreams was BOOZY Buys and best place to buy take out booze and bottles of water was supermarket near glass bottom boat.
Portinax very quiet pretty resort .Beach is lovely. Really shallow, clear water and safe for children. Life guard on duty too. Sea is that lush turquoise blue. Really fab beach. If you look out to see and walk to the right, you eventually come to another beach, not quite as nice but great to sit and have evening drink and watch sun go down.
Back to hotel. Presidente staff were helpful. Restuarant was good had air conditioning and was modern. There was a great bit for babies, with baby food, microwave, high chairs etc. Food was great. Good selection at breakfast - contintental, english, yogurts, cereals, croissants, cakes, toast, bread rolls etc and had to laugh as people still had to insist on making cheese on toast (!!????) Good choice in evenings. One night the most fanstastic joint of beef. Chips most nights but also another choice of potatoe. Salads were great. Also lots of fish.
We didn't do the entertainment very much and wasn't there in the day to comment but what we did see was the usual but was good! Nathan was great - very funny and all the reps work very hard. We didn't do any of the kids clubs so can't comment either but a lot of people used and had positive comments. Pool was ok, not massive, but hey there was fab beach!
As for the hill, you didn't get used to it, but it wasn't that bad! There was a way of avoiding the hill but it was an extra 20 minutes to half hour walking. I'd rather do 5 minutes up a hill! It was fun pushing buggy, few beers and litres of water up that hill!
We had a great holiday, loads of people we talked to had been to Portinax year after year. Hotel Greco next door has water park where you can pay to go in for the day, use water slides, come and go as you please and get drinks and icecreams in the price. 10 euros adult and 8 for child so well worth it.
Also good bus service to Ibiza town - about 45 minutes to Ibiza town.
If you want a lovely beach, quiet resort and good hotel then try Presidente!

Just returned from two weeks at the Presidente with a 6 & 7 year old and 6 adults.
The Hotel is perfect for families, our two children were entertained the entire holiday, morning, noon and night. The kids reps work tirelessly to make each child enjoy their holiday to the max. Our two particularly enjoyed the kids clubs, especially the chocolate party where they came back covered in chololate from head to foot! Even though the entertainment is always available it never seemed to be too "in your face" - we never felt obliged to join in with anything we didn't want to.
Several reviews have mentioned problems with people reserving sunbeds early in the morning, this problem was eradicated part way through our holiday, by the hotel staff removing any towels left on sunbeds before 9am. This meant that although the poolside was very busy, we could usually manage to get a sunbed later on in the morning.
Our room was at the back of the hotel, overlooking the play area. It was confortable and kept spotlessly clean by the maid. As other reviews mention, some of the decor and fittings could do with a bit of an update and our air conditioning unit leaked like crazy, we had a bucket under it on the balcony which filled up every day, and was very noisy.
The restaurant is air conditioned and always felt cool. The selection of food was great, always something for even the pickiest of eaters, with the restaurant manager being very efficient at seating everyone really quickly, even at the busiest times.
The only downside of this hotel is the outrageous prices they are prepared to charge. The prices at the bar were a complete rip off - 2.60 Euros for a fruit shoot, 1.40 for a small packet of crisps, 3.30 for lager and around 6 euros for a gin and tonic. No wonder people were going to Boozy Buys in the square and smuggling it in! The charge for the safe and fridge were also very high, around 70 Euros each for the two weeks.
Portinatx is a very picturesque and quiet resort with absolutely beautiful beaches which are ideal for the kids.
The glass bottom boat trip was great fun as was hiring a pedalo and feeding the fish with leftover breakfast bread.
We also used the ferry service to go to the caves at San Miguel - BEWARE, this is quite an expensive trip 15 Euros for adults and 10 for children. When we arrived at San Miguel we were left for almost an hour waiting for one taxi going backwards and forwards to take a boatload of people up to the caves. We were told afterwards that this was because the minibus they usally use had broken down, but by that point we had two hot and very bored children to sort out. Saying that, once we got to the caves the rest of the day was very enjoyable.
The El Greco Hotel just across the road, has a small waterpark which non-residents can use at a price of 12 Euros for adults and 6 for children. We visited this a couple of times during our stay and had great fun both times. There were three large slides, a couple of medium ones and a small one that goes into a baby pool. We managed to spend the full day there without the children getting bored, in fact they were sad when we had to leave when it closed at 6pm! The waterpark was ideal for our kids and it was a lot less hassle to just walk across the road than take a bus or an organised trip to the big water park in the heat.
Overall, we had a fantastic two weeks in Portinatx and would return here again.

This was our 2nd stay at the Presidente after our first visit back in 2005. Nothing has changed. Most of the staff are the same and most of them are extremely friendly apart from a couple of miserable barmen the older one especially.
The food is very good with plenty of choice and with complimentry drinks on several nights. The sunlounger problem came to a head during our stay as people were getting up at the crack of dawn and reserving numerous beds then not showing up to use them until 1030-1100. People must have complained to the reps as all guests recieved a letter stating sunbeds could not be reserved and left unattended until 0900hrs. To be fair I think this worked as we had breakfast aound 0830 and always found beds afterwards.
The real problem with spain at the present moment is the very poor rate of the pound v euro. This was not helped by the inflaited bar prices at the hotel initially 3.85 euros for weak lager served in a plastic tumbler which is never a pint!.However the management must have listened to the endless complaints re this issue as the prices dropped to 3.30 and then to 2.90 on special offer times which was similar to the bars in the resort.
The rooms are clean if basic, dont hire a safety deposit box as the fridge has a lock on it with a seperate shelf which we kept our valuables in.
The weather was fantastic, We did go on the catermaran cruise which due to the sea being very choppy was probably the worst day of our trip loads of people were being sick and we did not feel like drinking much of the all inclusive drinks that we had paid for plus the BBQfood which was laid on. My advice would be go on the Glass bottom boat rip which is better and cheaper and leaves every hour or so from the rocks next to the crazy golf restaurant.

Fantastic hotel. Food superb with a choice for everyone, breakfast especially nice. Very clean and very friendly. Fridge rental is a bit expensive and isn't very biganyway but with price of euro probably worth doing. Resort a bit boring, the main bars Vincents and Del boys not that good bars at opposite end of beach much nicer (and cheaper) although quieter. The hill to the beach is awful and not recommended for those with walking difficulties or severe asthma. Resort extremely expensive in general, even for the locals but nobody to blame for that I suppose. Lager 3 euros which is £3 Three Magnums at our hotel were £8 but fortunately they didn't mind you going to Spa and bringing stuff back. Fab weather of course just so expensive and too quiet.
