“Beautiful crosses”

Don't remember doing anything about these crosses in my Art History course - why weren't they on the list! Lovely site and well worth a stop to view the Cathederal and Crosses.

“Old graves, church and crosses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

The old cathedral is beautiful and the cross is too. There is a roof made of glass to protect a cross. There is another Cross outside really good for pictures when the sun is going down. The cimitery is so old and beautiful!

“Cathedral & High Crosses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This stop was part of a tour we took. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be included, our tour guide took us on an extended trip that day, but it was a welcomed surprise. He was extremely passionate about this stop, which in turn added a bit of excitement for the rest of us. As with many of the old churches we saw there were grave stones surrounding the building, some fallen/laying flat. It's a bit uncomfortable for me to have to walk on/over a resting place of someone, but with some strategic moves you can maneuver ok. The high crosses were stunning and listening to stories about what historians believe once decorated them is fascinating. How they ever figure some of that stuff out is beyond me. The building itself was interesting as well, different sections served different purposes and were built at different times.

“Great to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

It was a great place to go and learn about the history of Kilfenora. The crosses that were there had a lot of information with them. It was also nice to just look around and see the building and how it was built.

“History!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

It's just a graveyard around the old church and the "new" Catholic church, but it was amazing to see several high celtic crosses, one even in the sheep field next to the church.
