We ventured here to Hotel El Guerra for a retreat we were a part of and it was a gang of families with kids. Checking in was a breeze, but you have to pay a 10 euro deposit for a remote control, Yes, for a remote. :-) It was my husband, 4 year old, and I in this double room (two twins side by side) with a small bed to pull out for my child. I do admit it was a little tight with us in there and our bags and ski equip. You have a small balcony which has a nice view and it is very peaceful. Keeping the room warm and heated was a challenge. It seems it kicked on when it wanted too, lol.
The bar has the best brew around, Alhambra Reserve and they have some bocadillos to keep hunger down while waiting for the restaurant to open. The restaurant service was pretty good, I might say, the guy waiters are very prompt and helpful. Our meals just were courses from starters, a tapa, main course and dessert. I wouldn't run and jump around screaming my food was so awesome but it was good. Actually, it was pretty good, it just boils down to picking the best thing from the menu!! Breakfast is great. It's just enough and a variety for at least any and everyone to find something they enjoy. I was pleased.
CONS: You can hear people in the hall, clear as day, children running, etc. So, keep that in mind in relation to where you would stay, I wouldn't stay close to the lobby, that's for sure.
The front desk helps square you away with rental equipment for skiing and snowboarding if needed and they were very helpful and aware and the prices were incredibly cheaper then up on the ski resort. Keep that in mind if you need to rent things.
The location of the hotel is ideal from your normal hustle and bustle. In about 15-20 you will reach the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort and about 15 minutes the other way Guejar. Ideal!! It took about a good 25 minutes to get into and around Alhambra if you don't get lost and around the same time for the city center. Perfect location! Not too far from anything :-)
We are definitely going again and I will also update my experience there in March. Keep in mind the turn into the hotel is a little sharp and quick, so just slow down and carefully turn in, it could ruin the bottom of your car!
Check it out, it is great value and the pricing versus that balance out. Keep in mind this is a 2 star hotel yet it is well kept and better than some 3 stars I have experienced.
