We booked this hotel through Weekendesk.fr and the package was an upgrade to a room with whirlpool bath. When we arrived the owner apologised that the previous guest had walked off with the key. He showed us another room but we were not too happy so he gave us the spare key from his own key ring. The room was quite big and opened out onto the Main Street of Belmonte by means of a huge bay window. The owner, Roberto, speaks quite good English and his welcome was delightful and it was obvious he wanted to do all he could to make us welcome. The bedroom overlooked a small park area and Belmonte is quite a busy little town. The bar area of the hotel is used a lot by the locals but the restaurant is separate and clean. The food was excellent with Asturian specialities on the menu which had English translations - a benefit as the two waiters could not speak English but, again, could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was laid out buffet style and there was enough to feed a small army! We had only booked 2 nights but there was enough to do in the area for a longer stay. Only downside was the noise at night and there is no dedicated parking but plenty of street parking nearby.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have restricted headroom. Rooms at front a bit noisy.

Great little family run hotel. Rooms are clean and modern but also quite characteristic. Food was great. Concierge/owner Roberto was extremely helpful and friendly. The area around the hotel is great to explore and the town itself was friendly and charming. A great weekend away.

Located in the Cantabrian Mountains in NW Spain, the hotel is unexpectedly large and modern while maintaining a warm family run atmosphere.

The owner, Roberto provides a lovely warm welcome upon arrival, and speaks english quite well, and is always looking for practice to improve.

The rooms are large and functional, with bright clean bathrooms and free wi-fi throughout the hotel.

Breakfast is included and has a wide variety buffet.

I was working in the area, and Roberto arranged a lunch for me to take to the office each day, and ensured that I got my laundry done regularly.

The restaurant dining room, and the adjoining pub offer good food for very reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building might be quieter.

The small town of Belmonte de Miranda is a beautifully located, welcoming place and the Gran Hotel Rural Cela is the best place to stay there. The effusive, sincere and warm welcome from Roberto got things off to a great start. The room was fine and comfortable. The restaurant was good, and represented good value. I only stayed one night, but it would certainly be a place I would stay longer, and use as a base for exploring.
Roberto could not have worked harder to ensure that guests feel welcome and his commitment to guest hospitality is a welcome change from some of the other rural hotels.

The Gran Hotel Cela is a family-run hotel that has also the comforts that a demanding traveller expects. Rooms are clean and roomy with modern amenities. The Belmonte area is located within the Cantabrian Mountains a lush green rather rugged an untouched environment with hiking trails and fishing for trout and salmon. I spent 3 weeks in the hotel on a business trip and can only rave about the hospitality of the personnel. Roberto, the son of the owner and manager of the place is forever working on making the experience a better one. His concern for your well-being is truly exceptional. He will see to it that you enjoy your stay. Thanks Roberto!
I highly recommend this place for anyone who appreciates a quite relaxing place in a beautiful setting with excellent local food.
