We chose the Molos Bay Hotel as it looked the best of the few we could find in the West of Crete which had rooms big enough for a family of four (mum, dad, kids 11 & 8). We were not sure what to expect as the reviews we had read varied from excellent to awful. However we were very pleasantly surprised at what we found. We had booked a Junior Suite to accommodate the four of us and were impressed how spacious and clean it was. It had a big double bedroom with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space and big sliding doors onto the balcony (and a flat screen TV). The full bathroom was smallish but perfectly adequate and the living area was huge with two double sofa beds, coffee table and table and chairs and another big sliding door onto the balcony ( and another flat screen TV!). A useful addition to the living area was a 'kitchenette cupboard' with a roll up door that revealed a kitchen sink, small worktop and kettle and full size under-counter fridge with freezer compartment. This was vey helpful for making picnic lunches as the hotel was half-board.
The Balcony was over 10 meters long and ran the full length of the suite, looking over the pool and the sea, so plenty of room for sitting out, storing lilos and drying towels and swimsuits.
The suite was cleaned every day, usually whilst we were at breakfast, so no inconvenience and plenty of fresh towels provided. Half-board provided us with breakfast and dinner, both buffet style but there was always a good choice of quality food and plenty of it. Only issue we had was that dinner did not start until 8.00pm which was a bit later than the kids would normally eat but we quickly adapted.
The public areas of the hotel were spotless and the staff always friendly and helpful, particularly the receptionist with her advice about travelling to local attractions. The pool was very clean although could do with a few more sunbeds but the there were always enough well maintained sun beds and sunbrellas on the beach which was just a gently slope away at the end of the lawn. The beach itself was perfect in that it had clean sand, a shallow lagoon for tiddlers, some wave actions for stronger swimmers and some interesting rocks for snorklers. If there was any restrictions to use of the sun beds by non residents it was handled very discreetly and credit to the hotel bar staff who trudged up and down to the beach all day serving drinks from the bar.
The hotel has no programme of integral entertainment although the manager did organize a Cretan night on our first weekend with a Cretan BBQ, traditionally dancers and a band which was a nice surprise. However the hotel is just a short walk from the main highway and slightly longer stroll into central Kissamos but definitely at the nicer end of the town and beach.
For us it was just right - very well situated, clean, quiet and comfortable base from which to explore the west of Crete and I would not hesitate to return to the Molos Bay. Our thanks to the manager and staff for making our stay so pleasant.

Molos Bay Hotel Kissamos - Crete: The hotel is a real 4 stars and even better. All was above expectations. Rooms are big, clean comfortable, quiet. The beach is in front of the hotel. The water is clean. For the first meters is shallow and is safe for children. The facilities at the beach (umbrella, beds and towel) are included in the room price like many other services like the safe, satellite TV and wifi. The swimming pool is also very nice. All you need is available to make your vacation excellent for the best relax and comfort without unexpected hidden costs. The food is also excellent with a large and quality choice both for cold and warm dishes and dessert. Most of the food is typical of Crete/Greece, but you find also more continental/international type of dishes. Large is the choice also for breakfast. The yogurt is really unforgettable. All product are really fresh and cooked by experienced cooks. The hospitality is above any other hotel/resort I have visited in more than 30 years. The personnel is always available to make your vacation the best. The Hotel Manager is indeed doing an excellent work. Special evenings are organized like the Cretan evening that was a very nice opportunity to taste Cretan food and experience typical music and dances. The hotel is also very nice located to 5 min walking distance to the center Kissamos village with its shops and restaurants. It is also favorably located to reach in 20 min by car the beautiful Falasarna beach and within an hour the Balos beach (one of the most beautiful pristine in all Greece). Elafonisi beach (also one of the most beautiful) is a perfect destination for a day trip. Highly recommended to everybody for a perfect relaxing comfortable vacation or also for team building.

Room Tip: Take direct contact with the hotel or better with the Hotel Manager to find together the solution that best fit your wishes.

There is no doubt that money has been spent onto this property. New hotel with large rooms, nicely decorated with enough space to easily accommodate a family of four. Small kitchenette, conveniently hidden in a cupboard, AC, TV, nice pool, on the beach of Kissamos bay.
This hotel could be a great place to stay in an otherwise "not so much to talk about" town. A gateway for the gorgeous beaches of Falassarna and Balos.
Unfortunately, it seems that Molos Bay hotel is not managed as a four star hotel. In this philosophy towels and ...bath mats! are changed every three days! Beach towels are provided with 20! euro deposit fee, only to be changed again every three days!
Worst scenario, what is called a sea view room. It is being defined according to rules conceivable only to hotel's personnel. How more honest would it be to accurately inform guests on what to expect rather than say just half the truth?
Breakfast and buffet dinner OK, not in the high end. Coffee from machine, anything else with a charge. Special room offers vary dramatically with additional persons, even if it is a child past 12 yrs.
All in all, Molos Bay holel can be a good hotel if managed better. It has cost the owners a good amount of money and shouldn't be cheap on guests' treatment.

Room Tip: Do not rely on receptionist. Try to obtain very accurate description, or you will be surprised. Very few rooms have really sea views.

Very clean: Every day cleaning, every three days changing of sheets & towels,
Enviroment: Large Rooms, Newely redecorated, large Balcony. Most of the Rooms have Sea view. Very very small surrounding area, actually none at all, except from the beach in front of the hotel and the Pool
Staff: a Very big thanks to katerina & Alexia from the Reception. The Cleanning ladies were also very nice, and tryied there best with the mesh our 2 babies left behind. the restaurant & bar staff were just clueless of anything....
One of the smallest buffet services but at least good food most of the times

Nice building, nice room, however not very clean, terrible restaurant and ignorant and clueless staff. We had booked a room for two days but only stayed one. They asked to pay a penalty but after complaining to the manger for the terrible service they offered she agreed to only pay for one.
