What a fantastic family run hotel!
I've just returned from a fab weeks yoga holiday staying at this hotel and it was just brilliant. The hotel gives excellent service, the rooms are great and spotlessly clean and were cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding during the week.

Absolutely everything was catered for, from fridges and air con in the rooms to the wonderful breakfast after the yoga, with fresh fruit from the garden and home made jams and Cretan delights, to the lovely hotel pool! The beach is less than a minute's walk and just gorgeous and so relaxing. There are some shops just opposite the hotel for anything you might need - there's a supermarket a few mins walk away and the main town is prob a lovely 5-10 min stroll away where you'll find plenty shops, pharmacies and tavernas! Make sure you visit the lovely Chocolate shop...!

If you're going for yoga, there's a new outside yoga studio which is just amazing, and so wonderful to practice yoga in.

For evenngs, there are local tavernas close by but some more along the promenade which is maybe a 10 minute walk from the hotel - loved The Cellar and Papadakis and of course Maria Beach which is just across from the hotel. Make sure you try the local Cretan dishes, the food is all grown locally and is so fresh, just delicious!

Don't go to Kissamos/Kastelli if you're looking for a lively holiday with lots of nightlife and very touristy, this is a working Cretan town with no themed bars etc but plenty of local cuisine and perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday.

I will definitely be back to Hotel Peli and would highly recommend it, you will not be diasappointed.

Altough the hotel is around 50mins taxi ride from Chania airport, it is absolutely worth it. The location is quiet and friendly with a beautiful beach 30seconds from hotel with gorgeous sands and clear seas. We took our babymoon here!
The hotel itself is family run and exceptionally friendly. We had the most relaxing stay.
Room was clean, and air conditioned with a nice balcony.
Pool area well set out and plenty of loungers. Pool itself was lovely, and you can enjoy gorgeous homemade salads, dips and cakes by the pool!
It's a quiet location, but there are some nice restaurants for evening meals.

Great place if you're looking for a relaxing seaside/pool holiday, but there are options to take the bus/hire a car to go further afield.

I was one week and cried leaving this place. The beautiful family, cosy environment, quite and comfortable place to stay and have a real relax. Exquisite Greek salat at the Pool-bar, served the way you only want. People always ready to help you and to talk in the evenings, play tavli.
Unforgettable moments! I love you all!

We stayed here in autumn 2012 and have just booked for this year. I NEVER stay in hotels but this one is very special. I stayed because of a yoga course, but highly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting to experience the real Crete. Facilities were always clean, comfortable, lovely pool area and very friendly staff/owners.

Kissamos is a lovely town, with sandy beach and sea is lovely for swimming. Lots of great walking in the hills.

Have been to Crete many times and this is definitely a new favourite.

Last year (2012) stayed a week in Kissamos and it was a great experience. We were looking for a quiet, pleasant place to stay and that's exactly what we got!

The service is excellent - the hotel is run by a very friendly family, they were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were kept clean and tidy. The beach is as close as it can be :) The hotel itself is small and peaceful, a great place to relax. The swimming pool was big enough for me, also kept very clean - actually, much better than I've seen in some hotels with many stars. You can get amazing home food and snack at the bar, and in case you need any advice or help - the owners are always there for you.

We have wonderful memories of our stay and would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't like loud nightclubs or too many activities and prefers a calm, relaxing time.

Kissamos/Kasteli is a rather small town in western Crete. The bus ride from Chania took quite a while. This was not the town for shopping, high-life and night life, but it was the town for exploring Cretian culture, Cretian, tourist development and engagement. Excellent base for exploring cycling, hiking, walking, new and ancient Crete, as well as ordinary swimming, beach life, bar/café-life.

Earlier I had drowen through Kissamos on my way to Balos and to my way to Fallasarna, Topolia, Polynarya, Elafonisi, Imbros and several other Cretian wonderful places.During former holidays I stayed in Ag.Marina, Platanias, Kalives and Almyrida. Kissamos is so farth the best place I've been to in Crete. (Though Paleochora and Georgiopouli also may be the next destinations for my visits to Crete)

Hotell Peli was ranked as 2-stars+ hotel. I was very sceptical in ordering a room in such a
hotel. Summer 2011 I stayed in Hotell Porto Di Plaza Platanias, 5-stars hotel and it was very ok.

Hotel Peli has a very personal atmosphere, family driven by an extremely nice, polite and friendly, engaged family. My son (16 years) and I (his mother) felt so well taken care of. At our arrival, my son exclaimed: "This is a nice place, mother. I whish to go here again, When I'm older. It's a perfect place for bringing a girlfriend and a friend and his girlfriend".

My son and I have mostly travelled and lived in 5-starred hotels, but they can get very impersonal and we rarely use all their X-tras or need their fantastic meals. We want and we need nice, simple, clean and comfortable hotels like Peli.

The rooms were clean and simple, but had all we needed, like TV, 2 single beds, a balcony, wardrobe. Breakfast was buffet, not extravagant, but with bread, butter, fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, honey, ham, cheese, juice, milk, coffee, tea, water.

Peli has a nice pool area with a small bar, where one can order very tasty, small dishes. as well as good drinks, alchoholic and non-alchoholic.

I also noticed that Peli offered courses in yoga on thursdays and sundays. Peli also sells home maid extra virgin oil and raki.

My teenage son and I have had a wonderful holiday for one week, thanks to the hosts of Hotel Peli - Kissamos/Kasteli - Crete.

I recommend this hotel and also the town of Kissamos to other tourists that seek a relaxing holiday, connected to a beautiful, sandy beach whithin 2 min. walk, nice welcomming hosts, shop-assistants, and reastaurantworkers. 5 - 10 min. walk from the hotel areas to a real, functioning, minimal touristical town. We've had a wonderful week in the sun, swimming in the beautiful, blue Mediterranian ocean. We've met so many beautiful, friendly Cretians of all occupations, ages and genders.

Thanks to the hosts of Hotel Peli. Kissamos - Kasteli - Crete.

we stayed 5 days in hotel peli in kissamos (or kastelli as the locals call the area) 30 min from the center of Chania (souda port).Near the beach with beautiful sand where you can play volleyball-it has contests too!, run across the beach for workouts, eat and drink at the close tavernas near it and swim at the fascinating sea.If you are luchy enough you can jump on its waves and experience moments of fun with your family /friends.the hotel has its own pool and yoga classroom where you exercise and also relax clearing your mind from external noisy thoughts. Moreover to that, you can drink your coctail at the pool and eat homemade dishes like dakos, greek salad with homemade vegetables.Contact me for more info..

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Peli is located in the beautiful town of Kissamos in the prefecture of Chania. It was here where brothers Kostis and Manolis Pateromichelakis believed in and envisioned to create one of the first hotels of the area, motivated by the need to offer a friendly and familiar ambience. Hotel Peli has operated since 1987 and has accommodated visitors from Greece and all over the world, many of whom come back every year not only to feel the owners' warmth and hospitality but also to enjoy the natural beauties of Kissamos. The time has come now for the new generation of the family to start engaging more in the hotel’s growth and thinking creatively about the future, expanding the hotel offers among others to the yoga holidays (last year we invested our time in building the spacious open area dedicated exclusively to yoga groups to be ready yet before the season began). At the same time maintaining the entirely family character of this place that draws many people to us. The arrangement and decoration of the hotel is based on simple, austere lines that leave its architectural stigma invariable through the passing of time; lines that relax relieve and revitalize the visitor. You can feel that sense of well-being by staying in one of the 29 rooms which meet the requirements of all modern amenities and by choosing a book from the library situated in the living room on the first floor. You will enjoy your tasteful breakfast (buffet) from local products, organic fruits and homemade marmalade on the spacious veranda surrounded by bougainvilleas with a sea view. You can also enjoy your postmeridian coffee or tea , your cocktail in the breeze of the garden around the swimming pool or try a salad prepared from organic vegetable from our house's garden at our snack bar. Hotel Peli is a two-star hotel that consists of a ground and first floor, having a sea view from one side. It is located in Mavros Molos area, 30m from the public, sandy and gently shelving beach, certified with the Blue Flag. Within the walking distance (50m) you can find a restaurant, tavern, mini market and super market. There is a bus station on the opposite side of the street, from where you can explore the nearby natural beauty of this part of Crete: FALASSARNA BEACH (15KM), BALOS LAGOON (8KM), ELAFONISSI (45KM), KISSAMOS PORT, CHANIA etc. The centre of the town itself is reachable easily on foot within 10 minutes. ... more   less
