Owner description: One of the best beaches in Chania prefecture, quite untouched and unexplored. Many travelers use the area around the beach as a free camping spot. It is actually a cedar forest next to the beach. It is also a favorite beach for naturists. The road up to Elafonisi is quite good and then you need to take a non asphalt road for about 10 minutes. Then you also need to take a walk path for another 15-20 minutes. No matter the time you will need to go there, it's sure that you will enjoy that unique beach.

At last one unexploited beach in Crete! The white sand and the colour of water make this place exotic. Not very easy to find, not very easy to climb, this may be the reason so few people visit this place. I wonder however, what is this dump on the top???

We've liked:
1. Extremely calm place to be, you can hear nothing but the sounds of nature!
2. The vegetation, kedros (the name of the forest trees) is a very beautiful tree.
3. Very clean and unspoiled waters.

We didn't like:
1. The root to the beach (do not go if your car isn't high enough for rough terrains)
2. The beach its self, it was very rocky for our taste (this of course could be a bonus for someone who like fishing for example)

Some more tips:
There are also some free campers in the woods which seemed very happy of the place.
We didn't see any water supply or anything to eat or drink near by so you probably need to
be prepared and have all the supplies you need especially if you intend to stay there for a long period of time.
Finally, the pathway from were you leave the car to the beach isn't that difficult.

You need to drive about an hour from Chania main city towards to famous and tourist Elafonisi. Just before arrive there you need to turn left, I think you should ask. There are no sign anything. After you park your car in the middle of nowhere you need to walk about 15 minutes down the path to the beach. This is a unique place known mostly by locals and naturists. The beach is away from all and offer nice sand and crystal blue water. To me one of the best beaches all around Crete. On the back there is a cedar forest (that's the Greek name - Kedrodasos) for those who want to stay for one or even more nights at the beach. The shadows are all around the place but please respect the nature and the beach. Do not throw away your garbage and clean your spot before you leave, let's keep the place untouched.

PS.: Don't forget to get food, water and anything else you may need, if you want to stay in front of the beach a kind of beach umbrella should do the trick.
