We stayed in cave 15 in April 2014. The place is absolutely amazing! The cave was fitted with all modern fittings, including an iron and board. The decoration was of a high standard. We had two rooms (each with en suite) and there was plenty of room. There was a wardrobe in each room and plenty of drawers. The kitchen had a full size fridge and a freezer compartment at the top. Plenty of kitchen items. The cave was quiet and comfy and had central heating. There was a fire too (although we didn't need to use it). There was also a barbecue and shaded patio with table and chairs. There was a children's playground and playroom and a garden area with a view point. Plenty of space for children to play and run around. There was also a pool. It is easily accessible just a few minutes of the A92 and it was a suitable base to explore the area.

The cave was spotlessly clean and the whole complex was clean and tidy too. The gardens and pool area are well presented The restaurant was great. The ladies who run the complex were extremely helpful and talked to us about what to do in the local area. We were given the choice of two caves when we arrived and we chose the one we liked! The cave and the whole complex was a perfect place to relax after busy days out and about!

I would highly recommend this place, it's quirky and different to stop in a cave, and am so pleased we stopped here.

My wife and I were travelling through the area of Gaudix and found the Cuevas La Granja. And what a great find. It's an extensive complex with most of the rooms built into a hill, ie the rooms are caves. Our was large, a front large patio, a kitchen, a sitting room a large bedroom and a large bathroom. All furnished with well used but comfortable furniture.

The Manager, Silvia, is a ball of fun, speaks English very well is a font of knowledge about the area. We stayed 2 nights and were sorry that we had per booked elsewhere or we would have stayed another night.

The complex has a restaurant, and whilst the food was good, and quite reasonable, the menu was restricted so on the second night we opted to cook our own. The breakfasts were good with the chef willing to cook most dishes.

Firstly you will never get a couple of more helpful hosts than Maribel and Sylvia who helped us endlessly before our trip sending train times and organising taxis.
Cuevas La Granga is in the heart of the Troglodyte region and is accessible by train (short taxi ride from Guadix and can be walked from Benlua but takes approx 25mins) The cave houses are very quirky with a mix of traditional furniture and modern touches. They are pretty big too - ours had a large lounge/kitchen/diner, big double bedroom and a huge bathroom with whirlpool bath. Kitchen is equipped with hob, microwave, toaster and fridge freezer, there is a large flat screen TV in the lounge (also dvd player), complete with lazy boy. The bathroom has a large vanity unit and professional hairdryer and the bedroom a full length mirror and safe. Outside there is a small terrace with patio table, chairs and a sun lounger.
One really great thing about the cave houses is that they are very cool even when it is 40 degrees outside meaning you get great sleeping conditions.
Cuevas has a pool and a restaurant where the staff are really nice and the food decent, they also have a laundry room that offers service washes. If you want to go into town you can walk there in about 10 mins and there are a handful of shops and cafes.
This is a great place to go and experience something a little different - Maribel and Sylvia are great hosts and really try and think of everything to make your stay a pleasure - they even included a bottle of Cava.... just what we needed after a relaxing days sunbathing!

We stayed in cave 17 Mamabel for 2 nights as part of a guided cycling holiday.
First impression of the whole place was amazement. My wife & I shared this 2 bedroom cave with two others in our group. Both bedrooms had their own bathroom and a shared kitchen & living area. The kitchen would have graced a reasonable sized house with dining table & soft seating in the lounge area with TV. Each cave has its own WiFi.
We ate in the restaurant La Cueva Del Parador at the hotel both nights, see separate review.
The manager showed us around various cave rooms & I would have stayed in any. All were amazing. Its difficult to convey the wow factor this place has. Really unique in my travels.
They took great trouble to state that their were three stages to the restoration. The oldest part was the original farm caves. The second stage was slightly newer & we wer in the most recent renovations. The oldest semed to have the most character
We had the upstairs bedroom in our cave but the second best bathroom, please view the photos, it was fantastic.
If we are ever in that area again we would definitely revisit.
Being March the swimming pool had not been filled, that was due June.

Room Tip: Every one was unique, ask to look around they would be pleased to show you.

I am an American living abroad in the south of Spain. I booked this mini-vacation at Cuevas La Granja for my girlfriend and me to relax during the winter break. I booked the travel through the site lastminute.com and I purchased the two nights relaxing romance package. I called the Cuevas right after I had booked the travel to confirm and also to tell them that I wanted it to be a special occasion. I spoke with Silvia from Cuevas La Granja who was absolutely amazing (she speaks English and Spanish) and she assured me to leave it in her hands. When we arrived they had everything set up and ready to go. The only thing that we needed to do was to tell them when we wanted to tour the Winery (Pago de Almareas) and when we wanted our massages. Silvia then led us to our cave (Almareas Suite) which was prepared with candles, a warm fire and a bubble bath (amazing). This was one of the best travel experiences I have ever had, truly amazing and beautiful. They recommended some great restaurants and even a nice running trail for me to run on the following morning. The only bad thing I can say about this is that the bed was hard but then again most of the beds in Spain are that way. Great place, great customer service, intimate, secluded and a truly exceptional experience.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Suite Almareas. I would recommend it because it has a big bath tub with jets. I have b...

Hey everyone,

Do you want to have a new experience? C'mon! I'm talking about accommodation.
Well, my boyfriend and I together with some other friends were doing this amazing trip around Andalucia (no andalusia!). We were in our way betwenn Almeria (amazing seaside, especially in "Cabo de gata" Natural Park) and Malaga and we needed some where to stay. In Guadix tourist office got all the information about accommodation when they suggested to stay in a cave...now you know our reaction but let me tell you, eventually we chose Cuevas La Granja (they speak english and the two receptionist were very helpful, not pushy or anything like that!. Very friendly) and believe me, this is what we needed, very confortable, well equipped, big and spacious, with lovely kitchen and beautiful bathroom (they're bulding an spa near by as well!!).
We were going to stay one night but decide to do three, sleeping there is like getting real beauty sleep, I felt new the following day.
So well, if you want something new, I give Cuevas La Granja.
See you around :)
