A brilliant family hotel in every respect. Rooms superbly equipped and maintained. Cleaned and towels changes daily. Outstandingly varied food in the resaurant and poolside bar. There is a state of the art spa where exhausted parents can recharge the batteries in tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the pool. Excellent entertainment.for children and adults throughout the day and in the evenings. Entertainments and Kids Club staff put in tremendous effort. Our grandchildren particularly loved Markusaurus and Chloeoke who seemed to have boundless energy and a kind word for all the children. The stand out feature of this hotel is its staff. Everyone - housekeeping, reception, restaurant, bar, entertainments - without exception was so cheerful and helpful. They were the key to making our holiday one to remember. We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Rooms furthest from the pool, entertainments area and play park are quieter.

The hotel was excellent. Our room was cleaned every day and clean towels every day. The pools are excellent and cater for all ages. We travelled with a 2 1/2 year old. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were self catering but ate in the hotel a couple of times and the food was nice (buffet style in restaurant and bar food on offer for lunch). Yes, the hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the main restaurants in town but that didn't bother us as we enjoy walking and Pine Walk is stunning. I would recommend a walk along there on a Saturday night. If you have a toddler then worth taking the buggy. Only downside with the hotel for us was that our son was too young for the kids club as its strictly aged 3 and up and the creche was more geared towards up to 2 year olds so not much to keep him amused so we didn't use it. We went in September so the hotel was busy but mostly with families with young children so it was quiet at night. The night time entertainment is provided by Thomson reps so is geared up for the kids. Not particularly our style but as long as our son enjoyed it then thats the main thing. All in all, I would recommend this hotel. Puerto Pollensa is a relaxing holiday for couples and families so if you are looking for a wild holiday then this isn't for you.

Room Tip: If you want it quiet at night, request a room facing away from the pool - we heard no noise at all f...

Puerto pollensa is very nice area, the only downside where the hotel was situated is that we had to walk about 20mins to get anywhere near shops and restaurants,(bearing in mind we had a small toddler so would take twice as long).

When we arrived at our hotel we thought it looked really nice, and the reception staff was very helpful. We got to our room in block 1 and was bit disappointed, we expected it to be much bigger there was hardly any space for suitcases. We was greeted by ants (but what do u expect on ground floor in a hot country) When we walked in the bathroom I was really shocked there was mould on the walls and stains down the toilet!! When the cleaners come in the room daily they don't even go near the bathroom! Bathroom never got cleaned for the whole two wks of our stay!!! I definately wouldn't call it a 4 star hotel more like 3 star!!

My main complaint was the fact I had to listen to the music from the entertainment area until at least 11pm every night, I had a 21 month old toddler trying to sleep! By time the guests got back to there rooms and settled down it was gone midnight. I don't think this hotel is ideal for young children who need there sleep. Getting to the stage where just wanted to go home to get some peace. Don't get me wrong it has plenty for children to do like a playground, swimming pool slides and soft play area but when your kids are tired they don't want to play!!

I just felt sorry for all the babies and toddlers trying to sleep but basically if you want a nightclub themed holiday this is the hotel for u !!

loved hotel went with family including 2 grandsons age 1 and 3,returned to uk yesterday .yes the pine walk is a lovely walk into town but if you are at the beach and then eat in town you can do that trip 4 times which can then be hard on the feet.as we are pensioners we cheated by getting a taxi to the square where there is a great selection of reasonably priced restaurants, and then walked back to hotel by the main road cost 5euros .kids loved the square as lots of activity also a kiddy park on square whichwas always very busy with locals.cant really fault hotel ,had no trouble getting beds but struggled with parasol cant understand why a family hotel ,with hardly any shade around pool doesnt have more umbrellas especially as there were a lot of toddlers and babies when we were there.what can i say about reps they all worked really hard but i must say my favourite was marcus ,what a guy ,he really was a genuine nice person and the kids all loved him,he really deserves a mention.hope he gets his wish and thomsons send him to lapland. for his next stint .we had a back room overlooking the military base and at 8am every morning the bugle went off ,.found the entertainment area very hot inside, but thats only complaint, loved the hotel and hope to visit again.

Room Tip: we were in block 4 at the back and very quiet but had a corner room so very cool with window at side...

Have just returned from a one week stay at the Playa Mar commencing 13th September and have had a wonderful holiday. On arrival at the complex we were met with cava, fruit juice and fresh fruit and were made to feel very special by the reception staff. We took our 7 year old grandaughter with us and she was very impressed with the pool area and especially the water slides down the giant crab. We had so much enjoyment watching her and other children sliding down especially when Marcus, part of the Thomson entertainment team, joined in the fun, he was a real star as were all the team including Chloe, Rachel and all the other members who really put themselves out to entertain the children. There is a childrens club running throughout the day for staggered ages and we took adventage of this. We were able to have enjoyable walks down to the sea front and enjoy a quiet drink in this beautiful and tranquil part of Majorca.
Now to the food on offer in the restaurant, we went half board and found no fault whatsoever, lovely breakfasts and for those of you who enjoy the full english the bacon and sausage will certainly pass the test, also glasses of cava were available every morning. The evening meals were very good with some fantastic salad dishes, main meal dishes, lovely deserts and a jug of iced water was always available and at NO COST - first time we have ever had this offered anywhere we have visited previously. Restaurant staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them and they really try hard to make you feel welcome. No problem with the room, nice lounge area with flat screen TV, seperate bedroom and small kitchen area. All in all a very enjoyable holiday and one that we would recommend.

Room Tip: Outward facing rooms are quieter due to outside evening entertainment

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2012

My wife, 1 yr old son and I stayed at the Playa Mar at the start of Sept 2012.

This was our first family trip so it was important to us that it was memorable, and it was. From the cleaners to the management, we were treated to smiles, greetings and bundles of attention for our son. Every person who worked there seemed to be a "people person" and loved kids.

Our room was good without going into the luxury bracket. It had what was needed and nothing more. We loved the fact it was an apartment style layout as it meant our son could be asleep in his cot in the bedroom and my wife and I could be relaxing on the balcony or in the living room area without fear of waking him. It was also nice to have a fridge, microwave and kitchen area to prepare food for him if needed. One downside was the noise from the pathway where the cleaners would pull their carts up and down. Lukily for us our son is a deep sleeper however it could be an issue if they are easily disturbed. To be fair this would not impact most people as this often was worst between 10am-12noon when our son would have a nap however most kids would by then be in the pool.

The pool was great fun for kids and adults alike. As we went in early Sept (when most older kids were back at school, thus quieter) we didn't have any of the lounger/parasol hogging that others have mentioned. Again, bar staff were a pleasure to deal with and the reps were encouraging without being overbearing when looking for participants to partake in activities like pool, water polo, etc.

The location of the hotel was ideal for us. It is far enough away from the centre of town that it was quiet and peaceful for evening walks along the stunning Pine Walk. We often took the 15-20 min walk into town to look around (especially at the brilliant yachts/boats in the harbour). I can understand the issue of pushing the pushchair over the cobble-like path however again this was a small inconvenience.

The restaurant was amazing. Each day there was a huge selection of meals and it always tasted fresh and hot. The outstanding part of our holiday and the most memorable were the restaurant staff. These were the jewel in the crown of the Playa Mar. All the staff were friendly and interacted with the kids. This was a great help to parents, ourselves included, as it was a brilliant distraction for kids and allowed parents that extra time to actually enjoy their meals. Two individuals are worthy of a special mention. Tollo (restaurant manager) was amazing in every way. He always catered for special circumstances and nothing was ever too much trouble. We often were unable to go for our evening meal as our son was in bed so Tollo ensured that were able to select our food and take it back to the room without any fuss. There is a fish pond outside the restaurant and Tollo noticed that our son loved looking at the fish so he made it his aim that each time our son was there he would feed the fish to bring them all in front of him. Needless to say this made his day each time. The other person was Salud. Out of all the staff she was most at ease with all the kids and she had a genuine smile that spread throughout the restaurant. She was so attentative and helpful and our son absolutely loved her and her bright yellow watch.

Overall a great holiday made amazing by the staff.

We had a lovely week at the playa mar. The hotel is completely geared towards families which was ideal for us with a 2 year old. We didn't use the creche but my son loved the cow water slides, swimming pool, play ground and of course Thomson the Dog. Thought the food was very good, we did half board and was never bored of the changing buffet selection. My only criticism would be the cleaning, the communal areas were pretty clean but thought the daily room cleaning could have been better and the bathrooms could do with a bit of an updated. Overall I would recommend it
