We stayed here the 1st week of june and what a fabulous time we all had, we traveled as a family of four, and can not wait to return, especially our 5 year old twin girls who took full advantage of the kids club and pools. They especially enjoyed the crab slide and splash pool as well as the day time games we even joined In with the pool side activities. We were given an appartment in block 4 which was ground floor and very handy for us. The rooms although basic if you go self catering are useful as a microwave is provided as well as a 2 ring hob, kettle and toaster also well stocked cupboards however dont forget your tea and coffee as these are not provide in the rooms which at 6.30 in the morning having to walk to the dinning room to retrieve your morning cupper is a disapointment. We were based as all inclusive which was very handy indeed as prices are rather steep for drinks etc, the food served was amazing however by the time we were into our second week it came a bit repetitive, however for a small charge bar meals can be had which did look very nice.the snacks that were provided were very poor and did not change the whole time we were there, the same sandwiches everyday not very nice either.
We can not praise the entertainment team enough they a a real credit to thomson, always eager to help full of energy and work extremely hard well done Ali G, Heavenly Hev and Asha Boo, the team in the kids club out of this world they were outstanding and our twins couldnt wait to be in there with the lovely zoe, mitch the man, emma and the rest of the team the girls were always making something and had loads of fun. The hotel staff also need praising as they to were fantasic, they really make the effort and go out their way to help Tolo, joes, george, david just a few to mention as these guys really stood out with their friendliness and teaching our girls a few words of spanish ???? I think it was spanish.

So if you are after a great family holiday were you can relax and enjoy and the kids are well catered for this is the place to go. One last little note is if you are taking kids stock up on the water toys be for you go as you can expect to pay at least 10 euros for a small boat. And if you get the chanve check out the trip to marine land ypu will not be disappointed.

Just come back from excellent two weeks holiday , hotel was great, all the staff were sooo friendly and great with the kids , my daughter loved Ashley ( your a star ) and Jorge ( v.funny) and the girls in the resteraunt who always took time out to see what Spanish my 4 yr old had Learnt that day, but they all deserve a mention as they were all brilliant, food was great although I must have put about a stone on so make room before u go, all inclusive is defo the best idea well worth the money, as my daughter wanted to stay up and dance on the stage every night she never got up till 10 the next ( which the wife loved the lie in) and we still managed to get beds around the pool every day, it's a pure myth they are all full before 9 as is the comments about kids running wild after hours , must not forget the hotel manager superb customer care was even there at the end helping lift our suit cases onto the bus and shaking our hands thanking us for staying (brilliant ) listen we all have different expectations but if you go here with the mind set its a family resort in a quite area with friendly staff and some cheesy but enjoyable entertainment you will love the place like we did defo going back my daughter did not want to leave which says it all for me , got a great tan as well red hit every day!!! Thank you all for making our holiday great

Came home yesterday (2 july) what a brilliant place to go! When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and some bubbly and the kids had juice and fruit after being on the bus for an hour. It was really nice. The room we had was by the crab slide - room 3113 (ground floor) was amazing, and we were close to the entertainment area. The pool was great - we sat by the pool a couple of times which we don't do normally, but it was so relaxing. The spa was amazing it was free to use (only take a swimming cap as you will need one or pay 2 euros for one). You can buy a bottle of wine in the hotel bar as its only 4 euros. The staff at the playa mar were brilliant - if you wanted anything they were there to help 24 hrs a day even the Thomson reps were really good. My daughter went to kids' club(never been before )she meet the staff and wanted to go everyday - Magic Meg thank you Holly loved it xxxx .The pine walk was brilliant, and the views was wow .. it takes about 20 - 25 mins walk to restaraunts Dakota amazing food and The Joker. Little Italys you will need to book a table as it was very busy but you might be lucky the pizzas were bigger than the plates but there isn't any kids menu at this place x AMAZING the holiday itself was brilliant go there and try it, would go back there definitely. Playa mar was great thank you xxx

I visited the Playa Mar the last week in May /June for the fourth time. On arrival we had a short wait for our room however we enjoyed the complimentary champagne and fresh fruit, When we got to the room it was facing the back onto the road, i went down to reception and explained that although the room was fine i was travelling with my elderly Mum and as she would be going back to the room after lunch i felt she would have been cut off from everyone whilst i and my two children were at the pool, i approached reception to request a move but with not much hope as i knew it was full but after explaining to the receptionist she spoke to the manager and within 30 min we had a fabulous room overlooking the pool so my Mum could watch us from the balcony, a little thing to the hotel however a HUGE help to us and the kids loved Grandma watching them and she was also happy. The restaurant food was even better than previous years and it was great to see Donna and Tolo who always have time for each and every person and the children loved the fuss, thank you. Breakfasts and Evening meals were lovely plenty of choice, unfortunately we did not have the best of the weather however the spa area was great and the children loved it and the sun did eventually come out. The review that states that "reception staff are all new and there is a severe lack of training and that they are all over you like a rash on arrival but should you need any help are useless" is amazing as every review i have read and my experience proved that every member of reception gave 100% even to the point of arranging a taxi to bring back my daughters bag with some toys in she had left in it one night to sending champagne when my key card broke, however i believe you are treated the way you speak and conduct yourselves to others. The room was cleaned EVERY day, one day i asked them not to come in as it was clean so they just changed the towels, the floor was mopped and cleaned also and i even observed a maid one day spend an hour cleaning each and every stair spindle in the communal areas. Also re children running riot that is down to the parents and nothing the hotel staff can do the music stopped relatively early so past 11:30pm it was quiet and i think for a hotel that is respectful. Pollensa itself is lovely and 5 euro's in a taxi (difficult for the elderly on pebbles ) market on a tue in the square is fab and little Italy serve the best pizza.

My family and I have recently returned home on the 29th of June 2013, having stayed at the Playa Mar for 11 nights.
Firstly 11 nights was not long enough as the days simply disappear when you are there, would definately do 14 nights next time.
The transfer is about 50 mins - 1hr, not the 1hr 30 mins Thomson state.
Arrived at hotel and the staff were waiting in reception with fresh fruit, and a glass of bubbly which was a lovely start to our stay.
Prior to going on hols I contacted the Playa Mar by email to request 2 ground floor rooms, they got in touch with me asap and assured me that if this was possible then they would accomodate us.
We were given 2 rooms next to each other, at the side of the bar and theatre, ground floor.
Rooms:
I would agree that the rooms were a little dated, but were comfortable, plenty of storage. There is a very small kitchen which we did not use as we were thankfully all inclusive. Air conditioning was on but not the most effective system Ive used. we did have a couple of problems with our room, but once reported to reception these issues were resolved in no time by the wonderful staff. Tidy size balcony. I do think that the hotel should remove the table and chairs from all inc guests room as it takes up ample room that could be used.
Although we were literally next to where the shows were held, I wouldnt say the volume was overly loud, and with the door closed we could hardly hear anything. Our kids certainly didnt as they slept like logs. Cot that was requested was in room ready for our lttle one.
Room were cleaned every day during the week and we seemed to have towels every day.
Pool:
Pools were a little cold and needed getting used to, but after a few times down the crab slide we were fine. I had to drag my little boy out of the pool at the end of the day. My children loved the pools, with the crab and cow slides, and the non stop water pistol fights between all the children, and the odd adult. A couple of the steps going up the crab slide were damaged and need repairing. Still amazes me how people whinge about being splashed in pools where there are kids playing and running round (as youd expect in a family resort aimed at children).
Plenty of sun beds available, we never failed to get a bed.
Lifeguard at pool throughout the day.
As another review stated, there are plenty of kids around the pool, and yes its a little noisy, but isnt that what happens when we take our children on holidays.......they enjoy around the pool!!!
Food:
Simply fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were always outstanding, how anyone can complain is beyond me and my family!!!! Loads of choice, tasting beautiful. We also had lunch once by the pool, which again was fantatstic. (Do feel that this food should have been included in the all inclusive).
Restaraunt was always very clean indeed.
All Inc
We stayed all inclusive and I am so glad we did. The sheer amount of ice cream my children ate would have cost me a small fortune. Very good choice and always in stock. Plenty of choice of drinks. Larger was lovely, will say that the cocktails did lack in the alcohol element, unless made by a certain member of staff.
I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER STAYING HERE WITHOUT BEING ALL INCLUSIVE!!!!!!
Staff:
The staff are absolutely brilliant. From the cleaners, waiters, bar staff, reception, maintenance etc etc they are all wonderful. Yes you have the odd grumpy one but 99% are fantastic, and they cant do enough for you. Always giving a lollipop to the little ones, or making a fuss of them, whilst having a good laugh with the adults.
Thomson Reps were great too. There were 2 in particular who were the stand out reps, Heather and her blonde side kick. Always happy and loved having you take part or just a chat. We didnt use the kids club, but the kids appeared to be enjoying. There was always an activity for the kids to play in, and when collecting his certificate in the night he was made a real fuss of and loved it. TTD - THOMSON THE DOG made his daily appearances and the kide went nuts for him, always on hand for a photo or a cwtch.
Park:
The park is great, but does have a raised step around the actual attractions, which my little girl tripped on every time, but was very clean and they loved it. Only problem with it is that some parents use it to dump their children in and dont supervise them.
My kids had plenty of fun in there.
Puerto Pollenca
Beautiful place, with many many stunning restaraunts. The pine walk is lovely day or night, it is very bumpy so women take your flats on the advice of my wife. We thankfully had taken our 2 buggy's for our children as the walk would have been a bit much for them (3 1/2 yrs and 19months).
We ate out twice and the food was amazing, spoilt for choice, especially if you like sea food!!!
The harbour area is stunning and thankfully there are no british bars offering british beakfasts or sunday dinner, finally a place not consumed by trashy bars and restaraunts. The ice cream stall at the end of the pine walk is AMAZING!!! A must!!!

All in all my family had a wonderful holiday and yes there are a few things that need rectifying at the hotel, but I would return tomorrow.

Room Tip: We stayed in 2110 and it was a great location for the pool/bar if little ones need the toilet etc et...

We went to the Playa Mar for our first holiday abroad with our 4 year old. This hotel and Puerto Pollensa is an excellent first choice destination for that purpose. I'm not sure if this hotel would be the same once the school holidays start and the larger kids arrive but with toddlers and preschoolers it was great. We went self-catering as we like to get out and about - the facilities for this are fairly adequate for preparing drinks and snacks and there is a large table if you want to sit down and eat. The restaurants on the front are very expensive though so be warned! Our room was cleaned to an excellent standard EVERY day and our towels changed a the same time. The Thomson staff presence was excellent and all the staff were lovely and very helpful. The pool area and water slides are excellent for children although it is very loud around the pool area so not relaxing for adults (not that you get much chance of this with children anyway!!!). The usual sunbed reserving goes on (at 5:50am on the day of leaving I saw at least 3 women securing "their" beds but there are ample beds for everyone if you can't be bothered to join the race! The only grumble about that is that the sunbeds are really crammed in next to each other so not much breathing space! The inside spa is a fab retreat for parents with some great treatments available. There is a lovely little beach just a stroll away from the hotel which was a pleasant break away from the pool! It is a bit of trek to the nearest restaurants but one of the best ones is at the Laguna Pool & Bar round the corner and this is a lovely place with reasonable prices. We stayed on the top floor in block 3 room 3310 which I would definitely recommend if you want a quiet room with a nice view (partial sea and mountains). I will definitely be returning to Pollensa but probably to a quieter hotel next time!!

Room Tip: All blocks have positive aspects to them (3 and 4 at the back are out of the sun in the afternoon/ev...

Thompson child care team were brilliant, kids club was great in particular my 4 year old son took a shine to Zoe and Charlotte in the creche formed a great bond with my 2 year old. Bar staff amazing will miss Jorge, David, Martha etc. Food amazing with the themed night being very special, restaurant staff so friendly.
Shame you couldn't see any Thompson staff on arrival at the airport as all the other reps were visible . The procedure for getting into kids club could be better as you waited in a hot spot and the time of year we went was full of tots (3-5 year olds) so it took some time to get signed in. We enjoyed the pool areas including the water slides however it could become very busy around the baby pool and getting a sun bed around there was hard.
