“Brilliant holiday!!!”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Playa Mar- amazing!! We were travelling with our sons aged 8 and 4 and grandparents. We were staying on a self catering basis. When we arrived at the hotel we got wine or apple juice and fruit or biscuits. We had 2 apartments and both were immaculate and cleaned, beds made etc every day. All staff in the hotel were so friendly and helpful. We ate from the snack bar at the pool most days - food and service was great. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and again the food was really nice with a great selevtion. The hotel is very clean throughout and well maintained. The manager was excellent and helped us take our cases to the bus on our departure. The pools were great for our boys and we always managed to get a sun lounger. The location of the hotel is great - about a 20 minute walk along the pine walk to the main shops/restaurants of Puerto Pollensa. We walked this most nights, it is beautiful. We will definetly be back, hopefully next time for longer.

We have just returned from staying as a family of 4 at this hotel (6 yr old & 6 month old) All of the hotel staff were very friendly & very accommodating. We had to move rooms as we were overlooking the bins with no sunshine whatsoever. The reception staff immediately saw to it. What was disappointing was how the other guests in the hotel overtook the swimming pool. If you didn't reserve a bed before 7.30 in the morning then forget it. It was very frustrating as it wasn't a little pool. I love kids but some of them running around with water guns was an accident waiting to happen. The lifeguard & parents just seemed to let them keep doing it. I have no criticisms of the food it was delicious & our Daughter loved the kids disco. Thompson could spend a bit more on entertainment though considering what us families pay. It was ok but nothing amazing. The reps were nice but young & inexperienced. We chose to hire a car from the airport as didn't fancy sitting with a six month year old on my lap for an hour & a half with no seat belt. It was good as we were able to explore the local beaches which were beautiful & then venture back at 5 ish in the hope of battling to find a sunbed. We still had an amazing holiday just gutted about the pool situation as it definately felt like sardines all rammed in & quite noisy although you expect that with kids. I wouldn't of picked this hotel of I didn't have kids.

Just arrived home from a 2 week stay yesterday. We travelled in a party of 3 adults and 4 children ranging in ages from 10 months to 12yrs. One party were on a self catering basis and the other on all-inclusive so I definitely think we covered all bases and can leave an honest review. The hotel itself is gorgeous, set in a lovely area 2 minutes from small beaches and only a 15-20min stroll to the busier beaches and all the restaurants. All the staff were friendly and offered a very high quality of service. The staff work very hard and long hours yet always have a smile on their faces. It was lovely to chat with the Manager Daniel who always took the time to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and we were really impressed when they set up a big table and birthday cake for us when we mentioned we were celebrating a special birthday and had other family members who were staying elsewhere in Puerto Pollensa joining us for a meal. Tolo and Donna were both excellent and made us feel very welcome as did all the staff and they should all be credited for the fantastic job they all do. The thomsons reps are all very helpful and knowledgeable, their energy and enthusiasm with the kids is great. Mark was also a great help to us when our son took ill and required a doctor and then a visit to hospital which he arranged and then enquired on his well-being throughout the holiday which was appreciated.
Overall we all thought the Playa Mar was fab, yes it can get a little noisy around the pool, but happy, laughing kids surely is the sound that every family wants to hear! if not, don't go to a family hotel!

We stayed here the 1st week of june and what a fabulous time we all had, we traveled as a family of four, and can not wait to return, especially our 5 year old twin girls who took full advantage of the kids club and pools. They especially enjoyed the crab slide and splash pool as well as the day time games we even joined In with the pool side activities. We were given an appartment in block 4 which was ground floor and very handy for us. The rooms although basic if you go self catering are useful as a microwave is provided as well as a 2 ring hob, kettle and toaster also well stocked cupboards however dont forget your tea and coffee as these are not provide in the rooms which at 6.30 in the morning having to walk to the dinning room to retrieve your morning cupper is a disapointment. We were based as all inclusive which was very handy indeed as prices are rather steep for drinks etc, the food served was amazing however by the time we were into our second week it came a bit repetitive, however for a small charge bar meals can be had which did look very nice.the snacks that were provided were very poor and did not change the whole time we were there, the same sandwiches everyday not very nice either.
We can not praise the entertainment team enough they a a real credit to thomson, always eager to help full of energy and work extremely hard well done Ali G, Heavenly Hev and Asha Boo, the team in the kids club out of this world they were outstanding and our twins couldnt wait to be in there with the lovely zoe, mitch the man, emma and the rest of the team the girls were always making something and had loads of fun. The hotel staff also need praising as they to were fantasic, they really make the effort and go out their way to help Tolo, joes, george, david just a few to mention as these guys really stood out with their friendliness and teaching our girls a few words of spanish ???? I think it was spanish.

So if you are after a great family holiday were you can relax and enjoy and the kids are well catered for this is the place to go. One last little note is if you are taking kids stock up on the water toys be for you go as you can expect to pay at least 10 euros for a small boat. And if you get the chanve check out the trip to marine land ypu will not be disappointed.

Just come back from excellent two weeks holiday , hotel was great, all the staff were sooo friendly and great with the kids , my daughter loved Ashley ( your a star ) and Jorge ( v.funny) and the girls in the resteraunt who always took time out to see what Spanish my 4 yr old had Learnt that day, but they all deserve a mention as they were all brilliant, food was great although I must have put about a stone on so make room before u go, all inclusive is defo the best idea well worth the money, as my daughter wanted to stay up and dance on the stage every night she never got up till 10 the next ( which the wife loved the lie in) and we still managed to get beds around the pool every day, it's a pure myth they are all full before 9 as is the comments about kids running wild after hours , must not forget the hotel manager superb customer care was even there at the end helping lift our suit cases onto the bus and shaking our hands thanking us for staying (brilliant ) listen we all have different expectations but if you go here with the mind set its a family resort in a quite area with friendly staff and some cheesy but enjoyable entertainment you will love the place like we did defo going back my daughter did not want to leave which says it all for me , got a great tan as well red hit every day!!! Thank you all for making our holiday great

Came home yesterday (2 july) what a brilliant place to go! When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and some bubbly and the kids had juice and fruit after being on the bus for an hour. It was really nice. The room we had was by the crab slide - room 3113 (ground floor) was amazing, and we were close to the entertainment area. The pool was great - we sat by the pool a couple of times which we don't do normally, but it was so relaxing. The spa was amazing it was free to use (only take a swimming cap as you will need one or pay 2 euros for one). You can buy a bottle of wine in the hotel bar as its only 4 euros. The staff at the playa mar were brilliant - if you wanted anything they were there to help 24 hrs a day even the Thomson reps were really good. My daughter went to kids' club(never been before )she meet the staff and wanted to go everyday - Magic Meg thank you Holly loved it xxxx .The pine walk was brilliant, and the views was wow .. it takes about 20 - 25 mins walk to restaraunts Dakota amazing food and The Joker. Little Italys you will need to book a table as it was very busy but you might be lucky the pizzas were bigger than the plates but there isn't any kids menu at this place x AMAZING the holiday itself was brilliant go there and try it, would go back there definitely. Playa mar was great thank you xxx

I visited the Playa Mar the last week in May /June for the fourth time. On arrival we had a short wait for our room however we enjoyed the complimentary champagne and fresh fruit, When we got to the room it was facing the back onto the road, i went down to reception and explained that although the room was fine i was travelling with my elderly Mum and as she would be going back to the room after lunch i felt she would have been cut off from everyone whilst i and my two children were at the pool, i approached reception to request a move but with not much hope as i knew it was full but after explaining to the receptionist she spoke to the manager and within 30 min we had a fabulous room overlooking the pool so my Mum could watch us from the balcony, a little thing to the hotel however a HUGE help to us and the kids loved Grandma watching them and she was also happy. The restaurant food was even better than previous years and it was great to see Donna and Tolo who always have time for each and every person and the children loved the fuss, thank you. Breakfasts and Evening meals were lovely plenty of choice, unfortunately we did not have the best of the weather however the spa area was great and the children loved it and the sun did eventually come out. The review that states that "reception staff are all new and there is a severe lack of training and that they are all over you like a rash on arrival but should you need any help are useless" is amazing as every review i have read and my experience proved that every member of reception gave 100% even to the point of arranging a taxi to bring back my daughters bag with some toys in she had left in it one night to sending champagne when my key card broke, however i believe you are treated the way you speak and conduct yourselves to others. The room was cleaned EVERY day, one day i asked them not to come in as it was clean so they just changed the towels, the floor was mopped and cleaned also and i even observed a maid one day spend an hour cleaning each and every stair spindle in the communal areas. Also re children running riot that is down to the parents and nothing the hotel staff can do the music stopped relatively early so past 11:30pm it was quiet and i think for a hotel that is respectful. Pollensa itself is lovely and 5 euro's in a taxi (difficult for the elderly on pebbles ) market on a tue in the square is fab and little Italy serve the best pizza.
