What a holiday, where do I start. We booked for 10 days through Travel Republic over 12 months in advance and got a fantastic price actually saving over £2000 for our family of 4 although we were in a family group of 13. As a taxi transfer from Palma airport to hotel Duva would be in the region of £70 to £80 each way for 4 people we decided to contact the hotel and ask them to arrange it, this was done and cost of just €135 each way for the entire group. A 21 seater coach arrived and just less than an hour later we were at the hotel, there was no messing about dropping other passengers. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by Miguel who was nothing less than amazing, his English was fantastic and he explained everything in perfect detail, he took his time and even had a laugh with the children. We were given hotel and local information and an access key for the room and directed to the lift.

We were given 3 adjacent rooms and 1 five doors away on the first floor directly above reception facing the mountains to the rear of the hotel. I do not believe we could have been in better rooms anywhere in the hotel. The rooms are not overly extravagant but are more than suitable with a lovely bathroom consisting of all the usual including a bidet and hair dryer. There was a large separate bedroom with its own air conditioning, two single beds and a safe in the wardrobe. In the main area was the quite well equipped kitchen with toaster, microwave, double hob, kettle, sink, various pots, and cutlery. Also in this area were two single beds, a wardrobe, full size cupboard, display cabinet, television, numerous drawers and cupboards. In the apartment there was more than enough storage for all the families clothing. At the far side of the room was the patio door leading to the balcony which was approximately 8ft by 4ft with a table and two chairs. It is advisable to take a length of washing line and pegs as the hotel don’t really like towels and clothing hanging over the balcony rail as it can quite easily blow down with a breeze. The maid service operates from Monday to Saturday and you get new towels every other day and new bedding every third day. They do an excellent job and you can definitely see when they've been.

Duva is in three sections, each with its own pool, the main pool is a decent size and starts at a depth of 1.3m with a smaller childrens pool adjacent at a level depth of 0.9m. There is a solid railing between the two pools for safety. Both pools are kept perfectly clean and are available for use from 8am to 9pm. There are at a guess 60 to 80 sun loungers which start getting reserved from about 8am. There are also in the region of 30 tables leading from the pool towards the bar.

The bar opens at 10am and remains open till midnight every day. Between the hours of noon and 2.45pm the bar also serves excellent quality snacks and light meals such as salads, burgers, sandwiches and omelettes, all at reasonable prices. There is a vast amount of drinks available including slush, juice, cordials, beer, spirits and sangria. The staff are all extremely friendly and definitely go out of their way to make you happy. One lovely touch is that while the entertainment is on the bar staff takes your drink orders from your seat so that you don’t need to go to the bar and miss any of the show.

The entertainment on offer mainly centres on the stage area and is available from 10am to 11pm every day except Saturday. There are two members of entertainment staff, Miguel and Angie, I can honestly say they were born entertainers, they give 100% all of the time and are still smiling last thing at night even after a full day. There was a huge range of daytime activities for the children including arts and crafts, pony riding, bouncy castle, archery, face painting, zorbs, water polo, and every day at noon there is the cocktail game which was a random simple catching game where the winner receives an alcohol free drink. Adults are definitely not left out and were also offered daytime activities including archery, water polo, darts and pool competitions and an alcoholic version of the cocktail game. The evening entertainment started at 8.30pm with the childrens disco for an hour where the entertainment staff dance around and teach the children the moves this is followed by 30 minutes of bingo with the prize for a full house of between €120 and €180 during my stay, the bingo cards are €1 each or 6 for €5. At 10pm the main entertainment started, this gets quite busy and the show can be anything from Lady Gaga and Rihanna to a hypnotist or Michael Jackson tribute. The shows are the quite good for hotel standard, very entertaining and most give you the chance to go up on stage if you want. If the children are not interested in the nightly show then they can spend their time playing pool, table tennis, or there is a slide for the younger ones and two rides next to the bar.

Although the hotel isn’t in the centre of Pollença it is only 850m from the beach which is about a 15 minute walk, although it does seem further in the hot sun. The reception staff is more than happy to order you a taxi which costs in the region of €5 to the beach or taxi rank which is the centre of the port. Most taxis arrive within 5 to 10 minutes but be warned that Sunday is market day in Pollença and getting taxis is near impossible during the market hours of 8am and 1pm, even the public buses run at capacity. Within a three minute walk there are three restaurants/bars and a supermarket which is crammed full of the basics and even stocks beach accessories.

All in all, Aparthotel Duva is a wonderful place to stay, I’ve been twice and I'm already planning a third visit. What makes it special is excellent staff, great food and entertainment and a gorgeous view of the mountains. I appreciate that there are plenty of hotels closer to the centre of Pollença and less of a walk but I’d trade that for Duva ant day of the week.

Room Tip: Take a washing line and pegs to avoid towels and clothing falling to ground. The nearest cash mac...

We have just got back from the Duva Suites and are booking for next year!!! What can we say, think this says it all. Biel, Toni, Miguel and all the other reception staff are so friendly, we had a lovely welcome back from Biel and Toni, thank you. The entertainment team go out their way to make you feel welcome, especially Miguel, there is lots of activities to do throughout the day and evening, you never feel bored! All the staff in the Duva make you feel looked after, from the bar staff to the restaurant staff to the cleaners, this is such a lovely place to stay, you wont be disappointed.
We have met some lovely families during our stays and have made some lovely friends at the Duva. All these people return year after year, think this says a lot. This makes this hotel.
The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes and when you walk down you can see the sea in the distance and feel the breeze, its fabulous, the sea is warm and its surrounded by the mountains, stunning!!!.
Cant wait for 2015 for our next visit.
A big thank you to you all at the Duva Suites, see you soon, adios!

Room Tip: All rooms have good views, either pool or pond views, or mountain views.

We stayed in June in a 1 bedroom apt, clean, basic furniture, serviced every day except sunday. The location is quiet, and we were glad we hired a car at the airport for all the 10 days we spent there. The beach is not a walking distance, the supermarket is closer, maybe 3 blocks away, the nice waterfront restaurants are a good 30 minute walk away. Taxis can be an option, but only for local rides. The island is big with many great places, towns and beaches to explore. Roads and signs are excellent, so it is very easy to find your way everywhere, even without a GPS. Wifi is 30 Euros per week.
Overall, a good experience, I would stay at Duva again, but only if I hire a a car.

From Aparthotel Duva & Spa we would like to thank for your time spent in reviewing and adding these comments that make encourages us to further improve and we respect your advise to hire a car but the distance to the resort is only 500 meters and 800 meters to the beach. We do also order taxis in less than 5 minutes ( for 5.50 € to the resort or beach) and there's a bus stop 100 meters aways from the hotel. We look forward to see you in the future again. Biel

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our holiday in Majorca. We had an apartment which looked out over the road onto the tennis courts. The bed was comfy, though a little disappointing it wasn't a proper double. It was nice to have a separate living space and balcony.

The reception staff are wonderful, very helpful and speak perfect English. This is definitely a hotel aimed at the Brits and many people return each year.

We were on bed and breakfast and found the breakfast really nice, lots of choice and it was always hot. We had a little blip on the last day when our names weren't on the list but was eventually sorted out.

Having spent the rest of our holiday in places on our own we enjoyed the entertainment each night, but were disappointed it ended so abruptly. It would have been nice to have a disco or music playing after the entertainment team finished as the place was deserted by midnight.

The hotel is located out of the town, but is definitely walkable in about 15mins. Taxis weren't that expensive and arrived quickly, there were always plenty in the town to get back too.

We booked a boat trip one day and thought it would be easiest to get the beach bus to the town. This wasn't the case, we got dropped at the other end of the beach to the marina and ended up with just as long walk! This was due to our naivety of not asking before we left or realising how big the beach was.

I'm not sure I'd return to Port de Pollenca again, it was a bit too commercialised for me but the Duva was a nice place to stay.

Just came back from Duva last night, and already planning on going back again! This has to be one of the best hotels/apartments around in Spain and many other people agreed as some families come 2/3 times in a year!
The moment we got there, we were greeted by the hotel staff who told us all that we needed to know, and even showed us to the apartment. We stayed in apartment '2011' which was the top level in the block. We had requested an overview of the mountains and this was exactly what we got. One aside of the apartment were the mountains and the other side was the balcony overlooking the gorgeous pool. The balcony was a particularly nice place to have snacks and lunch with the table, chairs and sofa to perch at. We stayed at a one bedroomed premium apartment so this included 2 sofa beds. The sofa beds were extremely comfy with much needed air conditioning in the room. The kitchen was a splendid size, although we didn't really use it as we were half board and went out for dinner. In the living room, you have 2 sofas, and adequate sized TV, and a dining table. The bathroom was always stocked up with towels and toilet paper and remained very well cleaned throughout our stay, as well as the whole apartment. The bedroom was a nice size with two single beds pushed together making a king sized. There was a wardrobe with a safe (5 euros deposit) and a dressing table added with a set wing kit and shoe polish. The maids cleaned everyday except Sunday keeping it very well maintained. Overall, we all couldn't expect anything better of the apartment.

We had a choice of three pools depending on how busy each was. We mainly went in the one near the mini supermarket as it was our nearest and didn't get busy at all. Sun beds were taken about 8-9 in the morning but everyday, you would manage to get one at least at one part of the day. The pool was cleaned everyday and you could use the pool 8 in the morning till 9 at night.

The facilities on site were absolutely astonishing, with a gym, sauna, Turkish bath, indoor swimming pool, and a jacuzzi. The gym was massive with all the machines you could possibly want with the gym staff always there when you needed help with the machines. The sauna and the Turkish bath was a great way to relax, especially for a bit of mother and daughter bonding time! Although the indoor pool was cold to start with, you easily could do lengths in the pool. The jacuzzi was a excellent change from home life, and you had unlimited use to all the facilities. Just remember to bring your own towels when using the gym and to purchase flip flops and a swimming hat to go into the indoor pool. The swimming hat is €3 as well as the flip flops which are purchased down near the gym entrance.

The food was exceptional! We were only half board, so this included our drinks with meals, breakfast and dinner. Carlos always greeted us on a morning with our table already set. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fresh fruit, toast, and you could even go all out with the cooked breakfast. This included bacon, beans, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, egg, omelettes etc. You could go back however many times you wanted which was a bonus. Breakfast was a bit repetitive but you couldn't wish of anything more. There was always a large choice of drinks, with both hot, cold and alcoholic. The glasses were a little on the small side so you needed to keep getting up and refilling. At dinner, there was always a soup on offer, with salads, pasta, chips, and a wide selection of meats to follow. We all especially loved the mashed potato! There was always something even for the fussiest of eaters! Desserts changed every night although ice cream was always on offer.

Entertainment was great with activities throughout the day with a certificate presented on the nights entertainment if you were a winner. Night entertainment was thoroughly enjoyable with tributes of Rihanna, and a very clever Hypnotist! There was always a mini disco for the children before which Miguel and Angie were brilliant at. This was followed by bingo which unfortunately wasn't a winner for us but there was prizes of over €130 euros!!

There was plenty to do with a bus to the beach every 20 minutes, a water park in Alcudia in which you can arrange transport from the no frills excursions on the sea front. The tennis courts were onsite, you just needed to book. If you're going to do tennis, I would recommend the 9-10 slot at night as it is far too hot in the afternoon! The beach was so picturesque with an inflatable for everyone, a banana boat, and rings pulled by a boat. Sun beds were always available at reasonable prices. Just be careful as the water was extremely salty! Bikes were onsite to hire and there was three supermarkets nearby. Every Wednesday, there is a market nearby which we were able to buy all our presents on the first day of our holiday, that never happens!

Overall, it was an extremely perfect 7 days at Duva with 2 adults and 2 teenagers with us making plenty of new friends. Thank you to Magda and the staff for being so professional and helpful, making us feel so welcome, even helping my brother learn some spanish! Look forward to returning later on!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the mountains - peaceful If you want entertainment every night, maybe ch...

This was our second stay at the Duva in the last three years. We travelled as a family of 4 with two teenage kids. The Duva remains as brilliant as ever and we now consider it as the best hotel we have visited in many years of travelling abroad. The hotel is all about families and it attracts decent people year in year out. Again, we didn't hear a single swear word in the two weeks that we re there. We didn't seen any drunken or yobbish behaviour, just loads of lovely families enjoying themselves and having fun. If you're looking to let your kids run riot whilst you sit around getting drunk then go elsewhere instead, this is not the place for you.
The staff at the Duva are simply excellent. From the managers to the bars staff to the cleaners everyone is polite, helpful and friendly. We were shown almost all the way to our room on the day we booked in. How many hotels do that nowadays? The apartment was spacious, well furnished and had a great pool view from the balcony. Indeed, on some nights we watched the evening entertainment from the balcony. Any room at the Duva would offer an excellent view , be it of the pool, the gardens or the mountains. The room was cleaned on a daily basis except on Sunday. Towels were also changed on a daily basis.
The main pool area was lovely and had a great atmosphere. We met up with people who had stayed in previous years and everyone commented on how good the Duva was. People new to the Duva also said that they would return soon in the future. We found plenty of sun loungers to go around and we wouldn't get to the pool until around 8:15 ish. Anyone hogging a sun lounger got a rude awakening as management actively remove towels before 9:30 if no one was sitting with them. I praise the staff for taking this stance. The faces of people returning after leaving their towels down at 7 a.m in the hope that they would still be there at 11 a.m. were hilarious!!!! The pool area was exceptionally clean. Beware though as it is difficult to touch the bottom of the main pool even in the shallow end. There is a kids section of the pool though and there is a smaller and shallower pool near the tennis courts. The pool bar was well stocked and the staff exceptional. A large larger was €3.80 but the spirits were better value! I would also for a double gin and tonic and because there was no optic system I would literally get what could only amount to a quintuple serving for only €5!
There was plenty of entertainment during the day courtesy of the very hardworking Miguel and Angie- killer pool, killer darts, ping pong, pony riding, rifle shooting, archery, French bowls, water basket, water polo, hand crafts, walking to the market, tennis......the list goes on! My son and I took partion almost all the day activities and we met a lot of great people doing this. If you "won" your activity then you would be presented with a certificate during the night entertainment. We particularly enjoyed the water polo and water basket which quickly turned into under water versions of rugby at times!
The Duva caters for all sorts of holiday makers from sun lovers to sporty types. There are 4 large tennis courts here, a well equipped gym ( cardio and weights) , a spa pool and a bike hiring facility.
Evening entertainment consisted of a disco, bingo, quizzes and shows. Now lets be honest here, you don't travel to Majorca expecting a West End show in the evening! Some of the shows were so bad they were absolutely brilliant! You need an open mind and a sense of humour I guess! The "Michael Jackson" tribute being a prime example of this! A guy ( who could not even moonwalk!) dressed up as Michael Jackson but basically miming to his songs! "let me hear your love for me people" was so cringeworthy it left everyone in stitches! Evening entertainment stopped around 11 p.m. every night ( no ents on a Saturday) with the bar closing at 12 p.m. As a consequence everything was quiet after 11 p.m. so it would be great for families with young children who would want a good night sleep.
Many people have commented on the location of the Duva. It is a good 15 minute walk into the resort. However we were self catering and the walk in always gave us an appetite and the walk back burned off a few calories. There are two walks in. The first one is on the left of the roundabout along the main road. The other is straight across the roundabout. This walk was a lot quieter and was more wooded with beautiful houses on the right hand side. Either way, we enjoyed both routes and the goat bells and chirruping were lovely sounds to hear in the evening.
Puerta Pollensa is a beautiful resort with a blue flag beach. It's not commercialised and whilst there are thousands of people there, it never feels busy at all. We recommend the beach and some of the activities there- the Total Wipeout and Sofa Ride were brilliant!
All in all as I said at the beginning, the Duva is the best hotel we have stayed in abroad. It caters superbly for families and has a reputation for doing this. People go back there year in year out and this is testament to the hard working and brilliant staff there. They even helped me out on several occasions as a Spanish leaner! Muchas gracias por una vaccacion exelente. Este hotel es el mejor por cierto!

Room Tip: Any room would have a great view
