We have just come back from staying here and found it a very satisfying stay. The rooms were clean, and although basic they cater for everything you could possibly need! There is a spa with indoor pool, sauna and gym on the resort so on the not so hot days there is something to do! Would totally recommend!

We stayed at the Duva for a week with the half board option with two small children.

On arrival we found the hotel staff to be very helpful and the reception area was nicely decorated. Our room was average size with facilities that more than met our needs.

We found the pool to be rather cold, the outdoor one was not heated and it was only on the last day we discovered the indoor pool! (Due to our own lack of exploring!)
But spa and indoor pool area was very nice for us adults!

The supermarket was good and quite cheap but being half board we didnt visit it much.
We didnt visit the evening entertainment with the children, they were quite okay sleeping through it though so it wasnt that loud!

All in all a good holiday, not absolutely first class but with the price that is not what you expect!

My husband & I returned at the beginning of the month from a pretty ropey holiday at the Duva. We booked it after reading the reviews & expected a quiet relaxing holiday. Wrong!!

We arrived on the Saturday evening & were given a ground floor apartment (having asked for a high floor when booking) right next to the main road. We didn't even unpack. We went straight back to reception to ask for another apartment on a higher floor away from the road & were given one overlooking the pool area which seemed quite nice. Wrong again! The noise was unbelievable! I spent the first night of my holiday sitting in the bathroom with the door shut trying to read a book but could still hear the bingo numbers being called through the PA system. We also discovered that the roof was partly open to the elements, so when we emerged next morning there were bird droppings all over the corridor. Nice!

Next morning we asked to moved to somewhere more quiet & the young man on reception was quite abrupt. Apparently we should have asked for a quiet apartment when we booked & it was all our fault anyway because we arrived late at night -8:45pm! Well excuse me but I don't organise the flight schedule & have never in my life had to ask for a quiet apartment when booking. I further incurred his wrath by mentioning the situation to the Thomson's rep & we were promised another apartment the following morning.

True to their word, next morning we were offered another apartment at the other end of the complex overlooking the garden. This was much quieter & we were much happier - apart from grotty shower & the resident ants! I might add that when we were at reception getting our new keys, there were 3 other couples there, also asking to be moved to quieter apartments. Need I say more?

We finally felt we were settling in & decided to spend some time quietly sunning ourselves by the pool. Wrong yet again! Come 12:30 the loud music started from the outside bar & it was time for the forced enjoyment, on this particular day, a killer pool competition. This was the final straw. Along with a number of other people we gathered up our towels & headed back to the apartment.

At this point, we fortunately discovered the exsistence of the "Premium" apartments across the road & ended up forking out extra cash & upgrading to one of these. We had a lovely large & airy apartment with a separate pool (not even a sniff of entertainment) & what joy - peace & quiet at last. Whilst spending some time at our "new pool" we met a party of 3 ladies who, interestingly, had had a similar experience to us & had also paid to upgrade. It made us feel much better that we weren't the only unhappy customers.

Believe me when I say that this place is seriously noisy. The PA system has 2 settings. Full blast or off. It can be heard from the end of the road as you approach the apartments & there is no getting away from it. It is impossible to have a quiet drink in the bar, & while I'm not averse to a bit of entertainment, we found what was on offer here to be pretty dire.

I also have to agree with the other reviews as regards the food. We tried it on a couple of occassions & it was pretty awful.

My husband & I travel a lot for both work & pleasure & this was one of the worst trips we've had. It certainly didn't live up to the many other 4 star places we have stayed in. We won't be returning!

My girlfriend and I chose this hotel as it seemed from the brochures to be a quieter hotel but close to the busier town centre of Puerto Pollensa. The hotel was absolutely perfect for a relaxing holiday by the pool and then only a 15 minute walk into the town centre and lovely beach. The staff were always very helpful and friendly, and the hotel, pool and room kept very clean.

We did self-catering and found the apartment to provide all the necessary items -much better than other self-catering holidays that we have been on before. There is a supermarket directly opposite the hotel but head 5 minutes down the road towards the town centre and there is a much much cheaper and bigger supermarket there!

Overall we loved the resort of Puerto Pollensa and the hotel. Perfect for a relaxing holiday but enough going on in the evenings with a vast array of restaurants and bars.

Highly recommend this hotel and resort to everyone.

Duva is clean and light. The balconies are nice, the rooms are spartan but fairly reasonable. The little lake area is fairly pleasant. However there are two big problems which you should be aware of before staying here:

1) not central. It is about a 20 minute walk to the outskirts of town. You really need a car if you stay here unless you want to walk along the busy road in the dark after dinner.

2) The big one. They have awful loud entertainment every night until around 1130pm. The first night there was a loud folk singer, relayed through the hotel's PA system. The next night a nothern Elvis relayed through the whole resort. Then bingo the next day. Really.... it was awful. Really felt like I was in butlins in the 80s. Impossible to sleep and for that reason I would urge anyone who isn't deaf to avoid Duva unless they like staged cheesy loud entertainment!

I booked to go to the Duva with Thomson after reading the reviews on trip advisor. Lots of good, but some bad.

After coming back from the Duva. I am wondering if the people who left the bad reviews, stayed in the same place as us.

Palma airport was very very busy. I don't know if the Thomson rep's knew what they are doing out there. but that is another story.

We arrived early Saturday afternoon. We came into a very pleasant reception. The receptionist was very friendly, we were checked in in minutes and shown to our room which was just above the reception, which was brilliant. The room certainly wasn't basic. It had a small kitchenette, a lounge, a nice size bedroom and a good size bathroom. The balcony was also a good size overlooking the apartments opposite and the tennis courts.

The pool was lovely in Duva, it was cold but not too cold. We didn't use the pool in the spa, so can't comment. The gardens were really pretty. A joy to walk around. There were entertainment staff there , 'Amy and Adam' Adam was a good, he was new, only been there 3 weeks. Amy was up in the clouds somewhere. There was a quiz every afternoon which entertained us. The night time was pretty good. It wasn't too loud, or if it was, you couldn't hear it because the double glazing was excellent. You had no noise in the morning like in some hotels, people shifting furniture, or outside noise. Heaven.

I can't see where one person said the place was 'tired'.

As I had read the reviews, I had a good idea where to walk to the harbour. We decided to walk along the main road the first time, then we tried walking along the side street, which takes you to the other end of the harbour area. The rest of the holiday then, we walked along the main road to the restaurants, then coming back to the hotel, we walked up the side streets. The main road was well lite, not pitch black like some people have reported. You had to walk on the cycle track, which wasn't a problem. I remember the first sight of the port, I thought it looked fabulous. We ate in 'Stay' that night which was pricey. There are some great restaurants along the front, but also in the square.

We didn't have a welcome pack with Thomson, so didn't go to the meeting or go on any excursions. We found 'no frills excursions' If anybody has a chance, make sure you go with them. We had 2 excellent trips to Marineland to see the dolphins and the Caves of Drach. The guides are second to none. They are much cheaper then Thomson and probably a better service.

We wouldn't hesitate to go back to Duva - its well worth its 4 star. And Majorca was fantastic.

My daughter and myself have just returned from a week at the Duva and are glad that for once we booked regardless of some of the less complimentary reviews on Tripadvisor. We booked direct with the hotel and asked for a top floor 1-bed premium room overlooking the mountains and got exactly that. All the furnishings and equipment appeared to be brand new and of excellent quality. The daily cleaning was also very thorough. This didn't only apply to our actual apartment, but I also saw the maids washing down every square inch around both swimming pools each morning and all the gardens and landscaping are also immaculately maintained.

We had a family holiday 14 years ago at the Habitat apartments when the children were teenagers, so knew the location of the complex. The site has matured very well with lots of mature trees, shrubs and hedges. We again picked up a hire car at the airport and self-catered or ate in local restaurants so we can't comment on the Duva restaurant.

We so enjoyed sitting on our balcony listening to the crickets and the bells of the sheep and goats, and watching the farmer harvesting figs in the field below. And there were no mozzies, so you could sit out even in the evenings with the light on!

We do agree that the entertainment is unnecessarily loud and that is one reason why we didn't want an apartment around the main pool. We watched on two evenings and the Kenyan Boys were good. Fortunately the entertainment does always finish at midnight and the double glazing is very effective and the air con quiet.

It was actually a bonus to have the locals using the Gym, Spa and tennis court, as it made us feel part of the community, especially with the children coming in for their tennis coaching after school. Do try the walks to Cala Boquet and to Cala Sant Vincenc (the latter direct from the hotel), both 1 and a half hours in each direction, but it is best to do them first thing or later in the afternoon when the sun is lower.

A final thank you to all the staff in reception who were always so helpful and obliging.
