We have just returned from a week at the Formentor hotel with our twenty month old daughter. The setting is magical and the extensive gardens are absolutely beautiful - even with full occupancy the grounds seemed empty and quiet.
We booked a mountain view room and were given one of the larger ones away from the car park below. It was not huge, but more than adequate for the three of us. The smaller rooms would have felt rather cramped. The garden view was pretty but not comparable to the fantastic views from the sea view rooms.
The buffet breakfast was excellent - views from the restaurant are exceptional. The food at dinner was good but not outstanding. The waiters were more than happy to accomodate our daughter and she was able to eat her supper early - we then took her down to dinner with us at 8pm. Dining was formal and for us it was a slight drawback that the restaurant wasn't open slightly earlier so that we could have eaten together.
The beach is very pretty and quite narrow. Guests are charged for sunbeds which were greatly over priced. Lovely seating areas are available just above the beach.
We would definitely go back again, probably when our daughter is a little older.More
