Just spent a week at the Barcelo Formentor. Had a mountain view room which was a bit small and the shower was too low for my 6ft husband to fit under. Those 2 issues aside the hotel was great. Location stunning, staff incredibly helpful, pool area beautiful. Gardens were stunning. Thought breakfast was excellent as was the food and service in the El Pi restaurant. Eating out in Puerto Pollensa was superb. Prices were expensive. Had a great massage in the spa. Also hired good quality bike from hotel. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view if you can afford. Avoid room 126

I have just spent a week at the Barcelo Hotel, Formentor. My initial impression was very nice although when we checked in at 2pm we were told that our room was not ready it would hopefully be ready at 3.30pm. Off we went for lunch and my first impession was good the pool area and the gardens were lovely, however, I did find during my stay that the staff in the pool bar restaurant were rather snooty and on some occassions down right rude. On our second night we went back to our room and my daughter who takes daily medication found that two packets of tablets had varnished from the room we searched the whole room and could not find them, I called reception to explain what had happened and to be perfectly honest they really did not seem to bother. The following morming my husband went to reception to explain what had happened only to be told that they would check with housekeping - six hours later once again we asked reception had the medication been found - and not surprising the answer was no. I am extremely disappointed in the manner in which this was deal with at no time did anyone apologise or ask if there was anything that they could do. We definitely had the medication with us as my daughter took it on the first evening and I find it rather odd that it could have just have disappeared into thin air!! I would appreciate a response from the hotel.

The rooms were extremely cramped and dated and the sea view rooms that we paid for had no sea view! We stayed in a number of 5* hotels during our trip and this was the only one to disappoint and yet it was by far the most expensive. Service in the main hotel restaurant was generally poor apart from in El Pi. Over-priced, over-rated - such a disappointment.

We loved our one week stay at the hotel. If you are up for spending the money, this hotel is quite a lovely experience. We choose it because it has many lovely shaded outdoor areas. Including a tree lined beach. The ground are beautiful and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The staff was always friendly and very attentive. There is a large fee to rent chairs for the beach .We ended up buying c heap towels and using beach with out paying the fee for the chairs. We booked a fantastic sail trip with the hotel with a very nice captain Amador . I highly recommend him as well . I was quite sad to leave our lovely vacation. Also we rented a car and really got to know the island a bit . I advice that as well.

We stopped here for lunch and were very impressed by the charm of this old world hotel, with great food, excellent service and beautiful flowered grounds.
Waiting staff were real professionals and our salads were fresh, tasty and generous all washed down with an excellent inexpensive local Rose.
A delightful experience.
Set in a picturesque bay with sandy beaches the hotel is enough removed from the crowds that holiday here to be tranquil and refined.

To be honest, I was a bit reluctant to come to this hotel as it seemed a bit 'old fashioned' but I am so glad to have been persuaded. The setting is gorgeous - beautiful gardens and right on the beach (note it's a narrow one but there's recliners and a cafe at hand) and I could have stared at the view from our room forever more. We love to play tennis and the courts were superb. The food was excellent and I really liked the breakfast area - spacious and comfortable. The staff were all so helpful and friendly too. Go - don't be put off by the decor comments - it's not boutique
in style but nor is it dowdy in any way. And pay a visit to the lighthouse - amazing views en route....

Room Tip: Get a sea view room if you can - the view is beautiful....

Best Hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at (I'm 19) and went with my parents;

The hotel had Beautiful Views, Amazing Food, Wonderfully helpful Hotel Staff - The Beach and Pool was lovely in the 36'C heat we had (July), We stayed out every night with a drink or two enjoying the views.

Just a shame about the roads to the hotel, not for the faint-hearted - But well worth it !

Would Highly Recommend !
