“Perfect hotel for the more mature”

An excellent experience - the staff were particularly good and attentive. The quality (and quantity!!) of the breakfast meant we didn't need to eat again until dinner! Sea bathing is safe and easy - several access places within yards of hotel. The memory of evening drinks overlooking the bay will long be remembered.

Room Tip: 1st and 2nd floor sea views particularly good.

Stayed here for 5 nights in June 2013. The looks of envy of the passers by was consistent throughout our stay. This is a very nice hotel in a great location at the end of the bay (15 minute walk to the Marina). The room was clean and spacious and our room (220) overlooked the pool with a side view to the bay. Breakfast was excellent - the highlight being able to sit right beside the sea while eating. We also had a couple of lunches which were very good, but we did not eat here in the evening, preferring to walk into the centre.
Why I am not giving this hotel a 5 star rating is because I booked a sea view room and in my opinion I got a side sea view. Overall a great place to stay, but make sure you know what you are getting (when booked independently).

We have just returned from our second visit to the Illa d'Or and this time we stayed in one of the refurbished rooms on the 3rd floor. We missed not having a balcony but the rooms have been really well done - very bright and modern. They said the 1st and 2nd floors will be refurbised winter 2013, so we will probably return in 2014 and request a 2nd floor room with a balcony. We love the sea view - well it's really a bay view - looking across towards Alcudia - it's a beautiful location and the light changes at different times of day. We booked bed and breakfast this time as it's easy to walk into town along the pine walk where there is a very good range of restaurants and bars. We book independantly - the hotel responds very quickly and effeciently to emails. They will arrange taxi collection from Palma airport (about 45 minutes drive) but we booked a hire car (don't use Goldcar - we did last time and they will charge you for a full tank of fuel no matter how much you use - we booked Hertz this time as you can trust them!). The hotel is not designed for children - and the guests are mainly in the 50+ age group when we have stayed in June/early July. An evening drink in the bar overlooking the bay is a very pleasant way to relax and we found the service excellent.

Room Tip: It is worth upgrading to their larger rooms - the standard rooms are a bit on the small side

I booked the Illa d'Or with Cosmos for my mums 70th birthday ( I had holidayed in P Pollensa 10 yrs ago when my children were babies and promised myself a trip to the hotel when my children were older)
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty - the staff are exceptionally welcoming, courteous and helpful - nothing was too much trouble - our room was perfect - we had a newly refurbished 4th floor side sea room with a balcony that overlooked the swimming pool and the sea - the sun was on the balcony all afternoon/evening and the views over the Pine Walk were spectacular
We were on a half board basis, and although we were seated indoors for dinner we were able to take breakfast on the Terrace and dinner was a 3 course meal, served at our table ( not the usual buffet style)- the food was excellent, with several choices for each course.
We chose to dine al fresco on the Terrace in the Al a Carte restaurant on our last evening and were given a 12.50 Euro discount pp on our bill - this was the highlight or our stay as the food and the service was exceptional and the view over the bay watching the sun go down was stunning
The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were as soft as a cloud - the hotel was very quiet despite being full to capacity
We met many lovely people who were returning time and time again - one couple we met had stayed 25 times at the hotel which speaks volumes! - will definitely be returning next year - it was paradise!

this was the first time we stayed at this hotel and we found it to be one of the most pleasant we have stayed at. the location is superb with the beach literally across the path outside which is the beautiful pine walk wi great views across the bay. our room had a sea view balcony and was very well appointed. the breakfast buffet was probably the best I have seen in any hotel I have stayed in with a great selection of fresh fruit, cooked breakfasts and a wide selection of cereals, cheeses and just local delicacies. we had half board and the food in the evening again was of a very high standard with five choices on each course and a strong Spanish flavour. One night there was a Mallorcan themed dinner and flamenco dancing outside. The drinks in the bar which is outside on a terrace right next to the sea were reasonable but the greatest strength of this hotel was the staff who were totally professional but also just very kind and friendly. We stayed for a week in June and it was fair to say that the clientele were almost entirely middle aged and elderly British couples. The evening meal had a really good atmosphere and there is a dress code of no shorts or t shirts which everyone observed but this was not a stuffy place.

Room Tip: best to try and get a sea view balcony

When we were younger and taking family holidays we used to yearn for the day we would be able to afford to stay in the Illa D'Or. In June 2013 the perfect opportunity arose and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. Although we arrived early we were met at reception, our room was ready and we were in the terrace bar for a lunch time drink before noon. To my surprise the waiter would not allow me to add service to the bill, he just wanted the room number and signature. The room was lovely, with a sea view, very quiet, and the breakfast was overwhelming - what a choice! It is a perfect location for ambling into the town, parking is very easy and the standards of the hotel are high - very high.
This will not be our last visit, as we discovered it was nothing like as expensive as we had expected - bed and breakfast was a really good deal.

Room Tip: We had a sea facing room so cannot comment on any others, and you do pay a little more for the front...

this is our second visit to the hotel and it didn`t disappoint. we were travelling with an elderly relative and a wheelchair and the hotel could not do enough for us to make the stay comfortable. our rooms were allocated so as not to involve any extra steps within the hotel, so we were given lovely sea facing rooms with balconies facing the sea. bed and breakfast proved a good choice as there are several very good restaurants in the town and beyond. the staff were always happy to make recommendations and reservations for us. breakfast was very varied and catered for all tastes. this hotel is now on our list of places to return to on a regular basis.
