Eleven days in this fabulous hotel. Our first stay, other guests it seemed had been returning for years, one couple for twenty. It has an old grandeur about it, even though it seems is constantly updated. Our room with a balcony overlooking the sea was very chic, classy, just like the brochure shows. Particularly interesting are the photos of the original lady who started it all. The young lady was being given a wedding present from her father, offered a car: she said she didn't want a car (although in the early part of the 1900s a car must have been an amazing offer for a wedding present). The bride opted for a plot of land.... Then built the hotel. There are some rocking chairs facing the sea and look as if they belong there. I sat in one wondering if Agatha Christie rocked in a similar one when she stayed. All in all, we shall return. Xxxx

Room Tip: Pay extra for a large balcony

Stylish, relaxed, with a perfect location. The hotel is set in a beautiful part of Port. De Pollensa, along a shady pine walk with views of the bay and marina and the mountains beyond. It is lovely to have breakfast on the terrace - so peaceful and with such a charming setting. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and the rooms are stylish and comfortable with everything you need: our room is 230 with a flat screen TV, lovely bathroom ( bath and shower), plenty of storage and excellent lighting.this room also has a terrace with loungers overlooking the hills. Breakfasts are in the pretty dining room or on the terrace. All tastes are catered for, no matter how fussy you are! Fresh fruit, cereals, hot dishes, a wide range of breads. Freshly- squeezed orange juice every morning without the fuss of squeezing it yourself is a luxury.Staff are helpful and courteous to everyone and seems to cater very well for older guests.
All in all, I have been very impressed with Illa D'Or and would certainly return, especially as it is
so easy to get to from Southend Airport for a short break. Port de Pollensa is a beautiful place with plenty of places to eat and drink and an easy drive from Palma. Looking forward to booking our next visit.

Room Tip: We had one of the most recently refurbished rooms - it had everything we needed and was very quiet a...

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary back at this fabulous hotel where we got married last year! As always everything was to a very high standard, the staff polite and very helpful. We did the cruise from the hotel and it was wonderful! Thank you all for making our trip so special.

Just returned from a lovely one weeks holiday at this hotel and resort. Firstly we would like to say we don't understand some of the negative comments on this hotel. This was our first visit to Port de Pollenca and the hotel, even though we have visited Majorca many times. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Emilio (reception) and shown to our room by Juan (hotel porter) who was extremely kind and helpful.

Our room 208 even though slightly small was very clean and the picturesque view from our balcony was stunning. The food, breakfast was excellent with a lovely choice of fruit, cooked food and breads and choices for people who required gluten free options. The evening meals were also excellent with a varied selection on three courses of your choice. This menu was changed every three days. No complaints at all and the waiter/waitress staff were friendly, efficient especially Ana Maria and Esteban, nothing seemed too much trouble.

It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and the management sent a bottle of wine and fruit to our room with their compliments which we thought was a lovely gesture. Reception staff at all times were very helpful and polite.

We did witness some guests being unnecessarily quite rude to some of the staff and we think there is a way of expressing any criticism you may have without being rude. Personally we think the staff work very hard and try to accommodate your every requirement.

Will definitely visit again to this lovely resort and hotel, hopefully next year.

Well done Illa d'Or.

My friend and I stayed at the Illa d'Or Hotel for a week. We had a beautiful room, slightly small but with a balcony and with the most amazing view of the sea, marina and Puerto Pollensa. The staff, albeit one, Miguel, were lovely, friendly and always very helpful. One day into our stay and we were told in no uncertain terms by Miguel in the restaurant that the coffee machine was not to be used by guests in the evenings. Who knew? Especially as the machine was on, coffee cups ready to go ... or so we thought. We were spoken to like naughty children with the coffee cup whipped out of my friend's hands! At these prices, this was totally unacceptable and rude. Apart from this, the hotel was excellent. Oh, and the menú for the evening meals is changed every three days which I'm sure is appreciated by some ... but not all guests! The table reserved for us for the entire week was very close to other tables/guests, however the food was very good. Buffet breakfasts with enough choice for most people, I would think. The room was cleaned daily, quiet, towels for the beach always available, helpful reception staff and the hotel itself is within walking distance of a lot of the shops, especially the most wonderful sports massage I've ever had (Cristina, Pilar) and Valls gelato! Limited entertainment and no movie channels!

Room Tip: Sea view with balcony rooms are excellent. Very quiet, inside and out.

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights from 22nd April . The location is a harbour side with very little sandy beaches situated along the coast to the main town centre where the main beaches are. The hotel was clean ,service good and the weather was in the 20 degrees when the sun came out in the afternoon until 8pm . Breakfast was good ,dinner a la carte and good selection , drinks were averagely priced not ver expensive. The indoor pool and jacuzzi area was poorly maintained as the jacuzzi didn't work.
location wise was 10 min walk to the main town and the area around the hotel was quiet in the evenings. Waiters were not very friendly and could do with training with customers in mind. Entertainment was awful and only for the older crowd of 50 and over as we're most of the guests were. Also they were building a outdoor bar at the time with heavy machinery and lots of noise at times which I found unusual to do at the start of the Holiday season. This is a classy hotel for mainly the older crowd this time of year but still there were some younger people around

Room Tip: Harbour side

In the many years years I have been sampling Mallorca's finest hotels, I have never met a better manager than Miguel Salom of Hotel Illa d'Or , in the most desirable part of Port de Pollença. I have just heard on the regular - guest grapevine that Señor Salom is retiring in June after 14 years in charge of the most characterful establishment on the island's north coast. What a charming Mallorcan-born gentleman he is, and what a superb cosmopolitan professional. It has been a great privilege to have known him and to enjoy his hospitality since 2000. Always an innovator, he introduced the Local Specialities Section to the hotel's magnificent breakfast buffet as soon as he took over as manager. That's how thousands of international guests had their first taste of the spicy sobrasada sausage and the fluffy ensaimada pastry which became personal favourites of many. More importantly, his vision has been the inspiration behind the expansion programmes which have ensured that this 85 year-old landmark has kept up with global trends in the hospitality industry while maintaining its unique Mediterranean Art Deco character. ¡Adios,Miguel... Hasta la vista!

Room Tip: Ask for view of the bay.
