“Back again to some changes...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

This was our 2nd visit to the hotel and we were not sure what it was going to be like with new owners. I wont repeat last years review with regards to location etc i will just concentrate on the hotel.
Firstly the room was smaller than last time which we did mention to reception and we got the same attitude as last year from this team, they really need to learn about customer service, I avoided going near the desk for 2 weeks apart from the last day to check out and also mention that housekeeping had picked up my daughters toy in the laundry to a trainee receptionist, 2 hours later I had the toy back, thank you to the girl who helped us. The mattresses are still AWFUL and again I had back ache for 2 weeks!

Wi-Fi is free but is awful, upgrade is needed here.

The food was better than last year but the best thing was that the staff in the restaurant were all the same and being a manager in a hotel it is great to retain staff and I wish I could take some of them with me. They look after everyone so well and nothing is too much trouble, I do prefer that you can come for dinner when you like this year and not set to certain times. There was always plenty of food left at all sittings.

The playground has not changed and still needs some work doing to it to make it safer.

The hotel have taken away the sunbeds from the area in front of the stage which really I think they need to bring back as there was never any left and again you had to be down at about 7am to get a bed. There is so much land sitting empty the new owners need to utilise this.

The entertainment team are better this year but I did find the animation members for the younger children a little aggressive at times and also please change the disco as 2 weeks of the same songs is awful to sit through...

I have heard that the hotel is planning on becoming a 4 star hotel, they have a lot of work to do in order to achieve this, make sure you don't loose the hard working restaurant staff. Get them on reception to show them what customer service is all about.

I would return due to the location but will probably leave it for a couple of years

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view room, sunrise stunning from the balcony

Dear Superarabs,

Thank you for your time reviewing. We are happy that, although you mention some aspects that you think are to be improved, your general opinion about our service is good. We are specially happy with your satisfaction with some of the changes we have introduced this year.
We hope you will be also satisfied with the changes we are planning for next season, in your next visit.

As 2 young sisters, we had been looking forward to a relaxing holiday together in the sun. On arrival, we were told by the receptionist "you don't have a room here".. After lots of confusion as nothing was clearly explained, we were told the hotel had an "error" and was fully booked. We were shoved in a taxi to another hotel for 2 nights, which we were told was much nicer than Pollensa park. On arrival, we were met with a delboy at reception, ripped decor and told we had to walk to Pollensa park for all our meals and drinks. Only two taxis would be provided, one to get us to the grotty hotel and another to return us to Pollensa.
On return to Pollensa park, waiters were continuously rude, stating we had to pay for certain drinks and then giving the same drink to another guest for free. Some waiters would completely ignore us when waiting to be seated in the evenings, some would manage a slight grunt in our direction.
As compensation for the initial shambles, we were offered two free massages.. We PAID for scratchy towels, shower caps & a deposit to use the spa beforehand & 20 minutes before our massages, the rude spa staff confronted us in front of all spa guests, stating we had missed our massages. Both had an awful attitude and made us feel ridiculed. We strongly believe they replaced our appointment with paying customers.
Top tips for survival in this hotel (other than not booking)....
Do not ask questions, this is strongly frowned upon.
Do not expect "all inclusive", the majority has to be paid for.

Overall, our holiday was absolutely horrendous and we shall not be returning.

Stayed here 10 nights in August. Had a fantastic view of the bay, which was lovely from 7th floor balcony (not pool side). Location is fantastic, as close to a gorgeous beach, local shops and bus stop is around the corner. Staff were friendly and polite; and the room, whilst dated, was kept spotless. Bathroom also more than adequate for a 3 star hotel.

The pool is fantastic for anyone with kids. My lad aged 11 loved it. Also, the "animation" team were very good at pool- side games but poor at evening entertainment. Total waste of time but the beer was free, so no bother.

Dining area was clean and there was no shortage of food; which was hot, fresh and nutritious, but slightly bland. Cakes/puddings were truly awful.

The sea-view side is wonderful during the day but noisy at night, because the golden lion and Palms compete in a karaoke quality sing-off from 10pm up to 12 am. The singer in the golden lion is hilarious- She bangs the tunes out each night with the repetitive annoyance of your average local radio play list (with a Spanish twang). Tina Turner's simply the best has to be heard to be believed. It will be heard. There is also a Scottish Elvis impersonator who genuinely believes the cheers are not the product of irony. But, topping the lot was an enthusiastic local singing halifornia dreemin, hon susha windah's tae.

If you like beaching yourself next to the pool on a sun lounger then you must invest in a decent alarm clock and set it to a reasonable hour, such as half-five.

However, my only serious gripes are as follows:

The hotel's take on the term "all-inclusive". You have to pay for Cider, crisps, popular ice-cream lollies and decent alcoholic beverages. I paid a lot for this holiday and wasn't impressed.

Decor makes Fawlty tower's look modern. Bed sheets looked like my Mum's curtains.

There is an incredible rigmarole in actually attending the spa - the thing that is supposed to make the hotel special. 10 eoro deposit for a towel and a 2 euro fee, then a trip down stairs to a woman who then told me to go back to my room for a shower. I wondered if I smelled or something, then, after a lovely spell in the spa I noticed the probable reason for the strange request- a severe musty smell from the spa shower which made me think special thoughts (such as legionnaire's). I reported this, but the reception staff gave me the impression that they couldn't care less because the spa is "run by an outside agency" (note the name of the hotel!).

Port Pollensa is lovely, but expensive. We couldn't afford to eat out as often as we liked.

Overall, this hotel is good, but could be great. Location is fantastic. Staff are friendly and helpful (especially the bar staff) and the views are amazing from the 6th floor up. It's slightly run down qualities actually endeared me to it in a strange way and we did have a great family holiday here.

Room Tip: pool side will be quieter.

I have been back to this hotel for the past 3 years and would recommend to everyone. The location is right near the beach and has some amazing views. Staff are wonderful, and entertainment for kids is fab. The only down side is like anywhere you have to be up early some times about 6.30am to get a sun lounger. It is also worth doing all inclusive as a typical large soft drink for kids is €3.60 which adds up throughout the day.

Room Tip: I find being on the top floor is away from kids/noise.

Just returned from a very enjoyable 14 days all inclusive.
The hotel was very clean even though the rooms were a little dated....rooms cleaned every day and towels changed daily.
Our corridor had carpet on it which was great as we never heard any of the usual corridor noise at night.
The foyer area is quite big and there are plenty of comfortable seats in which you can relax either before dinner or after dinner.
The food was only ok...after holidaying previously in Sol hotels this was a big come down.
The fresh fruit looked lovely but it was rock hard
The veg at dinner was frozen and looked like it had been re heated..not very appetising...
Most nights in the dining room only 1 air conditioning unit was switched on..resulting in a very uncomfortable meal unless you were lucky enough to be sitting near the unit which was turned on.
The animation team were fantastic...they worked so hard from morning to night....they really made the holiday for our kids and teen...
The evening entertainment was poor..the management should think about bringing in some good outside entertainers...
The sunbeds were a big problem...most mornings there was not a sunbed to be got by 7am
Somebody told us that a lot of them are reserved at 6am before the outside door to the pool is even opened...they go around the front of the hotel and slip through a gap in the hedge!!
The lady operating the spa is giving the hotel a very bad name...she is rude and angry...lots of people around the hotel would not go back to the spa after one experience with her!
We went all inclusive and it was great especially for the kids...they could pour their own minerals and take their own snacks...the bar and restaurant staff were lovely and pleasant...
Location is great..only a few minutes to the beach and the port
One of the best holidays we have had.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week at the beginning of August, and we mostly really liked it. Our nicely air-conditioned room was on the fifth floor, and we had a really lovely view of the sea and the mountains. We arrived at about half 11 at night and the karaoke from one of the nearby bars was still at full volume but it finished shortly after and then there was silence, so it was fine. This was the same every night. The hotel is in a great location, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beautiful sandy beach (watch out for jellyfish - I got my first-ever sting!) and about 15 minutes from the harbour and lots of restaurants. We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast is served from 8am - 10:30am and it seemed like the earlier we got there the more relaxing an experience it was. The hotel is massive, so queues to get into the dining room, and then to use the toaster, etc., and having to almost shout to be heard from the other side of a small table are probably not surprising at this time of year. We never had to wait very long for anything, though, and the breakfast staff were all friendly and efficient. I think my only real criticism would be for the wi-fi. At first we were happy that it was free. It quickly became apparent that there is no way the hotel could charge people for it – it is dreadful! Also, the room didn’t have a fridge or tea making facilities. Overall it was a great week and I would definitely book this hotel again.

We arrived at the hotel and we were very nicely welcomed by two remarkable receptionists: Vanessa and Adrianna.
We were told we would have to stay in another partnered hotel for one night, to which we didn't object as one night away was not a big issue for us, we accepted it.

However, when we came back to check-in in the hotel (which we had booked months before) we were attended by the reception manager, who did not even know a word of english and was very rude as well. She gave us a room, and made us feel like she was actually doing us a favour, when we had payed a fortune for a different service without being given an apology.

We witnessed on the following days that they were doing the same thing with many other guests, which was completely unacceptable. All these families who had worked so hard during the year so they could enjoy their short holidays abroad... We even saw a little girls crying since she did not want to move hotels...

All the receptionists were in a complete chaos facing the angry guests (lots of shoutings, insults, menaces...) without any manager taking control of the situation.
I think head receptionists are supposed to show some consideration and apologise face to face when problems like these interfere with innocent travellers.

This went on during our fortnight stay and having been travelling around the world for many years we have never before seen such disgraceful service from the direction of the hotel.

We could see the employees working so hard, always with a big smile on their faces, having to cope with a constant and unhealthy pressure.

The hotel was obviously overbooked, and the guests being constantly being lied to.

Outrageous.

Staff deserves a gold medal, but managing needs to be replaced.

Never coming back again.
