“Fantastic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

We (2 adults 1 7yr old) spent a week here last week and was a fantastic holiday. Our apartment was on the bottom end of block 4 and was very spacicious with a large size bathroom which included a bath/shower. The main room had 2 single beds pushed together and a settee bed for our child. The beds were a bit hard but nothing too uncomfortable. Air con was great too as it got very hot as we had near enough wall to wall sunshine for the whole week! The pools were great too, a little cool when first getting in but soon got warm in the sun. Loads of activities going on around the pools/resort and a special mention to Andre who worked his socks off nearly all day and night, doing most of not all of the entertainment. The food was good too, lots of choices available throughout the day. The lager is Estrella which is really nice. Only negatives would be the 'crazy golf' which i feel has been neglected over the years, falling apart and hornets/wasps all over it, this needs updating. Also, the arcades room for kids needs updating too as most of the games were about 20 years old and most kept braking down. The bus stop just outside the resort was great, 10 mins to puerto pollensa one way to the fantastic beach and another 10 mins the other way to Alcudia. All in all we had a fantastic week and would come back again.

Just got back from 7 night stay & had a great time. Nan, me & almost 4yr old son. Had block 2 ground floor, perfect for kids splash pool behind & kids club. First choice run kids club was great - my son loved it & asked to go in. Pool was quite cold but soon got used to it. Beds are uncomfortable but possibly better on other blocks. Food good & plenty of choice, but if a fussy child it's just pasta, chips & maybe nuggets - the one thing that could be improved. Perfect week to go with younger ones - definitely noticed more older children arriving towards the end of the week. Staff were all lovely, couldn't fault them. Slight further out of port de pollensa than I thought, probau more like 40 minute walk, but bus stop right outside for €3 return regularly. Would recommend.

Returned on the 9th after a 2 week all inclusive stay. We went for a relaxing break and we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Excellent accommodation. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely return

Just stayed at this hotel for a week, and have to agree with most other people's reviews in that it's a lovely hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the apartment we had was great - good size bedroom, then bathroom and a big living room area with kitchen facilities. It was good not to feel cramped as you do in a hotel room sometimes, and to have the kitchen area to make a cup of coffee etc.
Everywhere was kept to a very high standard of cleanliness, and the restaurant was particularly clean and inviting.
The location is not good, if like me, you like to swim in the sea - the "beach" is more than pebbly, as in the brochure, and it's a long walk or bus ride to any sandy beaches.
The biggest problem was the number of children - at a time when they should be in school, which is why we have our holiday at that time of year. Whilst I realise it's a family complex, you don't expect footballs to come flying at your table and nearly knock your drinks over, or ice creams to come flying from the adult pool. there is no entertainment for adults whatsoever. Everything is geared towards the children, and the evening entertainment as a whole was some of the worst I've ever experienced....if you could even call it entertainment. Most of the time you couldn't even hear - really bad sound system, unlike by the pool, where you sometimes couldn't hear to talk! There were still children running around screaming some nights after midnight.

Overall, very good value for money if you have children, but if not, best avoided.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms by the large pool as it is very noisy.

We stayed at the Aparthotel Club del Sol for seven days returning home on the 20th June - we were a family of four adults with two children aged 4 and 2 - overall it was an excellent experience.
The hotel is located about 2 miles from Pollensa and if you want shops and restuarants, it means a bus ride or a half hour walk along a fairly busy road This did not worry us as there is plenty of facilities in the hotel.
The great feature of the hotel are the staff who without exception are very friendly and ensure the highest standads of customer service. Special mention of our cleaning lady, Teresa who was a lovely lady and made a big fuss of the children. Also Oscar in the restuarant and the Pool Bar who went out of his way to ensure everyone received a great service.
Special mention also to Andre of the Hotel Entertainment staff who is a real talent and managed both the day and night time entertainment really well. The children particularly liked the evening disco where Andre produced a great atmosphere. During the first half of the holiday, Andre was accompanied by Vasna who was a great support but she suddenly left and was replaced with Adam. I am sure that under Andre's leadership. Adam will do well. The childrens club run by First Choice was fine but when they took charge of the Childrens disco it did have the same impact particularly as they would not allow the children to dance on the stage (must have been down to health and safety), Also some of the professional shows (eg the Parrot Show) were a very poor standard.
We also questioned why the hotel allowed a bouncy castle (cat) into the hotel in the evening which was expensive and operated with little regard to the safety of the young children using it. Also a stall which sells cheap toys at exorbitant prices and would not change goods when they broke within a few minutes of purchase.
The rooms were spacious - our location in block 3 was excellent but are probably in need of some refurbishment.
Meals were fine with plenty of choice and of good quality. Most people were on an all inclusive package and this is good value for money - from 10.00 in the morning until midnight non alcaholic / alcaholic drinks are available and the bar service is excellent.
The pools areas are clean and you can choose between the entertainment area, the quiet area or splash pool for the children. The early morning reservation of sun beds is an issue and the management should follow the example of other hotels by not allowing beds to be reserved before 9.30am
One other suggestion is the hotel needs a play area with swings and climbing frames which would be a welcome addition to facilities for the children
With all the children and buffets, more emphsis on clealiness is needed and the introduction of hand sanitisers would be welome.
Overall if you are looking for a good value family hotel, the Aparthotel Club del Sol is highly recommended

Room Tip: Block 3 especially if you are travelling with small children

As before I've only ever given an honest review of where I've stayed ... so here goes.

Aside from the fact that our son was ill (diagnosed day we flew out with tonsillitis) and we had to do mealtimes differently, this is a great place. I wouldn't say it was 4 star, maybe a 3. We were in Block 2, a ground floor room. (We did notice on a couple of mornings there seemed to be a bit of "sewage" smell, but that quickly disappeared). Beds were not that comfortable and the linen wasn't changed in the week that we stayed. However, the towels were changed every day the clearners were there (other than Thursday/Sunday when the cleaners have their days off). We found the food to be of good choice, although I noticed there was no "kids" choices, something maybe for the hotel to think about for future?? We used the splashpool at the back of block 2, perfect as it was only knee-deep, although because it is fresh water, it was freezing upon entering. Though once you were in, you grew used to it. We were told that as it wasn't "full season" the pool bar at the splashpool was closed, which meant a bit of a walk over to the main bar for drinks & snacks - again something the hotel should maybe re-think?? We found all staff lovely and greeted you with a smile, Wellington in the bar in particular.

My only real "gripe" was in the evenings at the mini-disco. When Andre and Vasna (only found out what her name was from other reviews) did the mini-disco the kids had an absolute ball, they were up on the stage, dancing round the room etc. with all the adults joining in. However, when the Kids Club people did it, the first thiing they told the kids to do was get off the stage - did they really need all that space for just 2 of them? Oh and they seemed to favour the kids who had attended the kids club during the day, as they knew their names but seemed to ignore the other kids.

Despite the above, the place was lovely with main areas kept spotless, good choice of food and we obviously had the sunshine. Would I go back, yes I would.

Room Tip: We had a room in Block 2 - it was just a little walk from the main bar/restaurant area. You could h...

With this being our first family holiday abroad we paid a bit extra for a Thomson 4 star platinum hotel thinking we would arrive to something special. How wrong we were! Upon arrival at our room we were met with the most basic of accommodation. I've seen better hostels to be honest. Dated furniture, not the cleanest of bed linen. Equipment in kitchen area looked like you would catch something if you were brave enough to use it. And to top it off those brown itchy blankets on the beds which should be banned by health and safety!
As if this wasn't bad enough my husband went to run the kids a bath and the water coming out of the tap was a disgusting brown/green colour. We phoned reception and were informed that it was safe enough to bathe/brush your teeth in!!! Sorry but I don't think so. We were eventually moved to a room in Block 3 after packing up all our stuff yet again, and when I showered I stepped out into 3 inches of water on the bathroom floor. We reported the leak but nothing was done during our whole 10 day stay resulting in us mopping it up with bath towels after every shower and calling reception for new ones! Ridiculous!
With regards to the food, it was basic, luke warm at best and didn't really cater for children.
The dining room experience was that of a dinner hall, with diners queued around the room clutching their plates, in between people who were sat eating their dinner!
The only saving grace for this hotel are the kids club reps. Groovy Georgia, Hula Haley, Margarita pizza & co were fantastic with the kids and ensured they had a fantastic holiday (despite us parents being desperate to go home!)
Approach this hotel with extreme caution. You have been warned!!!
