after researching for ages to find a reasonably priced hotel in a quiet part of majorca i came across the Bahia Hostal in Porto Pollenca , i read loads of reviews of both the hotel and the area, there was not one single bad review on either, we were NOT disappointed,
the location of the hotel (literally just feet from the beach ) was a dream location, we sat on the edge of the beach at our breakfast table with umbrella and had a choice of lovely fresh fruit. cereals, .cooked eggs, bacon, sausages etc, fruit juice, pastries, toast, fresh cooked rolls and bread and as much tea or coffee as you want. the room was very basic but clean , we took a travel kettle and had that all important cuppa when we got back after a long day, we found the staff to be so friendly and helpful , we loved them.

the bus station is just a short walk away where you can hop on a bus which will take you to most parts of the island, we visited several places including Alcudia .
we tried most of the local fare which we enjoyed but for a taste of home we had the best ever freshly cooked fish and chips in a little place called THE CODFATHER. yes..i know,!!lol.
all in all, we had a wonderful week in the Bahia , porto pollenca is a beautiful and stunning resort and we would recommend them both to families and couples.

Stayed at hotel for 10 nights. To get the full benefit of the location of this hotel I believe you need to pay the extra & take a sea view with balcony. Although it "costs" it is well worth it to wake up to a pamoramic view of Pollensa bay. Room basic but spotlessly clean & comfortable. Staff are all very friendly & polite - right from the ladies who cleaned the rooms daily, to their colleagues on reception, nothing was too much trouble. The fact that it appeared during our stay that numerous couples were returning annually is testiment to how this hotel is perceived by regulars. Breakfast is fine and food in the restaurant is in the evening is excellent, if not a little expensive, but part of this was down to the Ster / Euro exchange rate. This is not a major issue as the hotels location to the town centre & other local restaurants is excellent so you always have plently of choice. English speaking receptionists, especially Louisa, were extremely helpful & knowledgeable about the area & local activities / events. Although a pleasant family hotel I believe it is more geared towards older children rather than younger children, who might find it somewhat restraining.
Super hotel with brilliant Mgt & staff - We'll be back!

stayed at the Bahia for 4 nights on a last minute deal after reading reviews on this site. This is a hostel only as regards the lack of ammenities that I´m not wanting & the bathroom which was shabby -but functional.& clean. The location is 1A, the breakfast choices extensive, the staff very friendly & efficient. Our room was one of the smaller ones at the rear and whilst the decor wouldn´t feature in an interior design mag it at least didn´t offend & had everything we needed. No fridge but at these prices who´s quibbling , I had a look at the July/August rates for sea view rooms and they are much higher ...but then so are everyone elses-it´s your choice . The restaurant served excellent lamb chops that were let down by the tinned vegetables to accompany them, the price was mitigated by the complimentary bottle of house wine for guests staying in the hostel.
Puerto Pollenca has a lot to recommend it as a seaside resort and we enjoyed our mini- break immensely.

Nice hotel in an excellent location. The hotel is right on the beach and having breakfast on the veranda in the morning is a real joy. Yes, the standard rooms are a little on the small side but the bathrooms are fine and very clean. The rooms are cleaned regularly and the staff perfectly pleasant. There are more upmarket hotels around and if you want a seaview then you will have to pay more. However, on the whole if you have realistic expectations about a one star hotel then you won't be disappointed.

just back from 7 night stay....this place is a little gem....the hostal is clean the staff are really friendly and helpful espicially Luisa, Aida, Pedro and Francisco to name a few. The breakfast was superb plenty of choice and fresh that morning. We ate in the hotel one night had the best paella we have ever had. We had no real expectations as it is listed as 1* but I can honestly state that our room was large [we had 3 good sized single beds] cleaned every day with fresh towels, bedding changed 3 times, and yes we were on the 2nd floor at the rear, but with the windows closed at night, air con worked perfectly we heard no noise and slept very soundly. The location is excellent, right on the Pine Walk and would recommend this as a great base to go from.

My wife and I stayed for 8 days in mid September. The Hostel Bahia is ok, but I think it was overpriced for what we got. Although we found Majorca to be generally expensive, we have stayed in much better hotels in mainland Spain, and indeed since the exchange rate has worsened in Engand, at significantly lower cost. We stayed in four star Paradors in the Costa del Sol in May for example which cost a lot less.
The rooms are basic, but ok. It was cleaned daily. The bathroom was starting to show its age, and had paint peeling from the ceiling. Soap and toilet paper was provided, not shampoo or shower gel. There also was not a hairdryer. I suppose you should not expect to get these items at a 1 star, but we were paying three star prices.
On the positives the location is very good, right on the beach. We had a seaview room which made up for some of the other deficencies, but it did cost.
We found the breakfasts to be fine, with a lot of choice. I can see there being a problem with seating if everyone came down at the same time and it was wet, as a lot of the seating is outside.
We eat twice at the hostel in the evening, and found the meals to be very good, although expensive, although one perk was that the wine was free if you were staying at the Bahia.

Have just returned from a 10 nights stay at the Bahia Hostal. I booked this hotel solely on the reviews on Trip Advisor. They were great reviews and so looking forward to my holiday. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I had a rear bedroom as I was not prepared to pay the exorbitant prices for a seaview. The room was shabby and not very clean. The noise from the kitchens could be heard from 7am until 12 midnight. The kitchen staff had no consideration regarding noise and were moving crates around after midnight and shouting below our window every night. Friendly staff, you must be joking! No one even said good morning, particularly the Spanish staff. On the occasion we couldn't sit out to eat breakfast due to rain, we had to stand to eat as there were not enough table and chairs. Was I really staying at the same hotel as these other people? Would I ever go back, absolutely not! There are much nicer hotels to choose from with equally good views.
