“Far too expensive for a 3 star hotel”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

Had been going to this hotel for a number of years prior to the change of ownership, sadly on our return we found that it is now really a bed and breakfast establishment as they no longer have a restaurant or bar facilities, staff still of a very high caliber.

The history of the hotel can be well traced by reading the reviews. I also stayed in the hotel before the much maligned Cappachinno moved in. I assume this was due to financial reasons. I can understand why previous guests will be a little disappointed at the loss of the restaurant and bar, but for new guests the hotel is ideally placed on the sea front. The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and the hotel itself is kept very clean again by friendly staff. The hotel is essentially a bed and breakfast with no bar. Breakfast is served at the front of the hotel, the breakfast menu gives three offerings one being an English breakfast. Unfortunately after breakfast the tables are turned over to the Cappucino. The front rooms are worth the extra with a lovely view over the sea. We had a terrace room with two sun beds and a table and chairs. There is also a bottle of water and a bottle of wine in the fridge just the job after a flight with Ryanair. I recommend the Trio restaurant is not far from the hotel, very good value and very friendly staff. The Nostalga Bar is ideal for a nightcap and a good host.

Sis-Pins is ideally situated right on the sea front at the 'town' end of the pine walk. The private sun terrace just across the promenade from the hotel is an excellent place to soak up the rays, with direct access onto a small sandy beach & crystal clear sea. We found all of the staff to be very friendly and efficient and both the room & general areas spotlessly clean & well serviced. The choice of breakfast food was really excellent and of very good quality. On the down side - we had a rear facing room (with balcony) which faced onto a service road and it was difficult to get a good nights sleep due to road sweeping, bin collections, deliveries etc frequently waking us through the night. Some other rooms faced onto a central area & appeared to offer little privacy.
The hotel does not have its own bar or restaurant but the adjoining 'Cappaccino' restaurant was lovely but rather expensive. A complimentary bottle of good quality bubbly arrived in our fridge on my Wife's birthday - a nice touch & attention to detail! Would definately stay here again but only if we could get a sea facing room.

Room Tip: Sea facing room definately worth the extra.

This was the first trip to the Hotel Sis Pins for my wife and I. We booked in January and were looking forward to a relaxing stay and sampling the cuisine at dinner in the evening together with a snack and drink during the course of the day. Regular guests and locals alike frequented this hotel and raved about the food and service. Alas this was not to be !!!! Let me begin with the good points :-

1. The room allocated to us was a sea view and was beautifully presented with a view
to die for.
2. The breakfast service was friendly and efficient.
3. The room service was efficient.

Now the downside :-

The Hotel in its wisdom has given a 5 year lease to the Cappuccino Grand Cafe bar and restaurant chain, which means that from lunchtime onwards this establishment takes over all the front terraces and charges exorbitant prices which means that guests are having to go elsewhere to eat and drink.
This type of establishment might be suited to Madrid , Paris, Barcelona and Palma , but not Puerto Pollensa!!!!!
The Hotel itself states in its Services guide that no food or drink can be consumed in these areas unless purchased from the Cappuccino cafe.
The Hotel in essence has become a Bed And Breakfast and I would now question whether this Hotel should have a 3 Star rating, or indeed be known as a Hotel!!!!
Almost all the guests I spoke to were up in arms about this new development, some of whom have been coming to the Hotel for 20 to 30 years and have verbally stated they would not be coming back.
There is also talk of a Japanese Sushi Bar opening there as well. As the Hotel is frequented by Scottish clientele the majority would rather eat real food as opposed to Fish Bait!!!!!!!
Come on SIS Pins, Return to your original grandeur and become a real hotel again!!!!

Having been to Port de Pollenca many times with the kids, we decided to return this time round(a few years on), just the two of us. In the past we have stayed in apartments (hobby club, Duva, Ora Playa), so this time our choice was the hotel Sis Pins.
We were fairly familiar with its location having strolled past it many times, and often admired its quaint frontage. On arrival we were checked in by Victoria who was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was on the first floor (117) which has a sea view with balcony. The room size is fairly normal for any hotel, as is the bathroom. The main features i would remark on is that the room was spotless, the shower was good with loads of hot water, and for me, the view of the bay. I spent many a passing hour just sitting outside on the balcony watching the world go by. So relaxing. There is a TV in the room but we didn't have it on at all. Also, the complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch and starts the holiday off on the right note.
Breakfast is served on the terrace. The choices are the usual cooked or continental which is more than adequate. They use local oranges for the fresh orange juice which is delicious and very moorish. All served up by very attentive and friendly waiting staff. I could have sat on long after we finished our breakfast just soaking in that morning sun.
Sis Pins has a private lounger/sunbathing area which leads to a small beach. There seems to be plenty of loungers with not too many being reserved. However we were there in May, so it may be busier going into high season.
The hotel is situated right on the pine walk, which is a quiet and delightful pedestrian walk way with a variety of numerous restaurants on one side and the sea on the other.
There is a weekly market every Wednesday in the square, but be prepared to haggle.
There was just one little niggle for us at Sis Pins. The hotel has sold the restaurant part of the business to Cappuccino, which I believe is a Spanish chain of cocktail bars/restaurants. It is very upmarket with very expensive cocktails, and seems out of context with the traditional style of the hotel. On our one and only visit we didn't find them very welcoming, which was in contrast to the way the hotel staff greeted you.
All in all we will return to Sis Pins which is is an excellent choice if your looking for relaxation and location, location, location.

Lovely quiet hotel in excellent beachfront location. We were allocated room 120 which had a large terrace equipped with patio furniture and loungers. Our room enjoyed full sun from early morning until around 4.00pm. Comfortable room, plentiful hot water, good shower, quiet/efficient air conditioning, daily maid service, very clean facilities. Breakfast, which we found adequate, was served by smiling, attentive, hard working staff, in the outdoor terrace area. Really enjoyed our stay and will return.

My family and i had a great time while staying at this hotel, the food was always plentyful and fresh, especially the breakfast, it set you up for the day. The rooms were always clean and the staff very helpfull. It was nice to relax in the grand cafe after a hard day at the beach.
We will be back...........
