I felt the need to leave a review due to all of the bad comments. Myself, my husband and my 4 year old twins spent 4 nights at the Azul in September and as the reviews have been so mixed we were unsure what to expect. I do understand many of the comments on here but have to say that we had a fantastic stay. This hotel itself is really clean and well set out and the location is amazing. The pool is perfect for young kids as they are graduated in depth which meant that rather than only having the option of a shallow baby pool or a pool thats too deep to let them play in there was something in between. The rooms were large and very clean but they are dated and I have read they are dealing with over the next year. The food didn't really suit me as I don't eat meat so options were limited but my husband and kids were happy with it and as the half board is so cheap then we would have been happy to eat out some evenings if we had been staying longer (though the kids would have missed all of their lovely dining companions). The entertainment was fine - my kids loved the mini disco and we found the animation team to be friendly and fun. One of the best things about the Azul is the staff - they were all so friendly and helpful and the manager was always around keeping himself visible and was happy to talk to the guests. This isn't a luxury hotel - it's quite basic but its clean, comfortable and very good value and thats what we were after. We are already looking in to returning next year. Thank you to all of the staff at the Azul.

Had a great time. Hotel good value for money, very clean, loads of sunbeds (albeit beginning Sept 2013 so not sure what it would be like during school holidays), all staff very friendly (especially Dom on reception) and could not do enough for you. Could only book half board and only really wanted B&B so only dined in hotel on one evening but so resonably priced that could afford to do this and food was good. Ate breakfast every day and good selection and always piping hot and fresh. Rooms were originally self-catering apartments so very spacious however had to pay extra for kettle (incuded cups) and fridge but well worth it. I also took lightweight plastic cutlery and plates with me which came in handy and as so cheap left them in hotel room. The best thing of all was that the daytime entertainment was infrequent and low key and background music round the pool was very low which made a change from previous accommodation I had stayed in and was a refreshing change. This meant that we stayed round the pool rather than go to beach however you must experience the beach at Puerto Pollensa as hard to beat anywhere in the world and fish friendly too!

Room Tip: Try and get room on top floor so don't get noise from room above. Also a room facing pool is nice espcially as entertainment finished before 11pm at night so not disturbed

We arrived around midnight & were greeted by a first class Night Receptionist. I think his name is Manuel & he checked us in, in seconds, helped with our bags & personally checked the apartment. A good man to have on the team. The apartment was cleaned well every day, but the girls have no chance with the mould which grows all around the bath. So silly of the management to ignore this, It would cost a tenner to reseal the bath & the difference would be amazing. Room B212.

The grounds are well maintained & spotless. Usual towel on the sunbed halfwits & not a German in sight! The entertainment team are Dutch, enthusiastic & happily not the usual commission chasing Thomson Reps.

The food is awful. I just don't know how the 'chefs' can soak everything in gallons of oil, yet still manage to burn it. I am not exagerating - this is as bad as I have ever had. One night we were offered a taster of sherry. The little paper pill cups that were offered were virtually empty & the Dutchman who served it had to walk away rather than keep explaining that he needed to get 300 servings out of one bottle! Far better to not bother, than to insult the entire complement of guests. Staff are told to check that any bottles of water brought on to the complex are consumed in the room & not in a public area. If you want a fridge, you pay an extra charge & the kitchen area is switched off & rusty. Yes, it really is rusty!

The staff in this place are far to good for the place. The management are sadly lacking, to not notice that the place is being ruined by lack of investment.

A shame, because it could be a great venue.

Room Tip: Take your own kettle because nothing is supplied & eat out!!

For a 3* hotel the Valentin Puerto Azul Aparthotel is a good value destination.
We stayed there during the second week in September when most children were back in school.
The hotel’s clientele were mainly couples with a few younger families.
The grounds are immaculately kept, and the hotel has a good size free-form swimming pool, plus a kid’s pool.
There were plenty of sunbeds to go round, and none of the scrabble that some people seemed to experience (probably in the height of the season).
The rooms are spacious with very good storage, although a bit dated.
The hotel currently has a refurbishment programme– the new rooms certainly look good.
The food wasn’t anything special – breakfasts were fine; evening meals were a little bit massed produced, but with plenty of choices.
We dined out most evenings.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room
