“Superb place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

Having stayed a couple of times before we knew what awaited us............Great food wine and company. Ina and Keiron run a super hotel where the welcome is warm and the wine is chilled nicely. We stayed for three nights and couldn't wait to get back in the evening to see what awaited us for dinner! Yes! the food is that brilliant and all prepped and cooked by Keiron single handedly. All the produce is from local suppliers and Ina can tell you exactly who supplied what. The rooms and spotlessly clean and comfortable and the location ensures peace and quiet. Breakfast has a fantastic choice and sets you up for the day ahead.
Nothing is too much trouble for these hosts. All in all a smashing place to stay.

Old inn with creaking floors. We were upgraded to the Stewart Room, with a four-poster bed (also creaky!) which was a large room overlooking the road and hillside. Very quiet. The room had many thoughtful touches, ie: chocolates, sherry, fresh roses, hospitality tray, and assorted books. Lovely well-equipped bathroom with rain shower and hand-held shower as well. On our first night we ate in the restaurant in the conservatory at the front of the hotel, with a set menu which was outstanding. On the second night (a Sunday) only bar meals were available, but these were of a very high standard with a varied menu, and the bar has a lively atmosphere. Breakfasts were excellent with local produce, and many home-made items like muesli, fruit compote and even the yoghurt. Ina is a very attentive hostess, cheerful and helpful, and Kieron well deserves his two AA rosettes. We highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for a couple of nights recently. Good comfortable bedroom nicely furnished. A great breakfast to set you up for a good day. We also ate in the bar in the evenings. A great selection of dishes on the blackboard from local ingredients .

We returned to the Princes House Hotel to celebrate my Husband's 60th Birthday. Nothing was too much trouble, excellent food and superb hosts made this a very special occasion. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

A hotel, any hotel, that gets five stars has to be good at the basics; the default to which all places of hospitality should aspire but rarely do. After that, it's personal. I will start by saying that, not only does this hotel get the basics right, such as cleanliness, service, amenities and good food, there is a kind of atmosphere to the Prince's House which is hard to describe, but nevertheless very appealing.

We were stuck. We needed one night because we were en-route to Uist and did not want to stay in Fort William. The voice on the phone was fairly neutral about it all. Ok, not everybody is T.V. documentary material. I asked about food in the evening and was told that there was no guarantee the restaurant would be open, but that there might be a "some steak or fish" in the lounge bar. It was a classic undersell! The putative modest lounge bar menu would put most "bistros" to shame. Not only was there a mouthwatering and fantastic choice, our food was just very good indeed; succulent, slow cooked lamb with polenta, home-pickled herrings, haddock that tasted of the sea and game terrine. One can only guess at what goes on in the "proper" restaurant.
The lounge bar is comfy, relaxing and in keeping with the locale. As a whole, the hotel exudes quiet competence, exemplified by the breakfast and the calm and refined dining room. There was some gentle classical music playing through a Bose sound system; it was the kind of music in keeping with the slightly delicate nature of mornings spent in hotel breakfast rooms. On the walls are some original and interesting art works. I asked the night before for some smoked haddock with a well done poached egg. It was delicate, fragrant and the poached egg was well done. The full breakfast was described by my partner as "yummy".

My only regret was that we were only able to enjoy the family's gentle and expert hospitality(I timidly asked for more tea and milk in the room, apologizing of course, and within ten minutes a plentiful supply was provided.) for longer.

A word on Glenfinnan; the scenic railway is three minutes walk from the hotel and the area itself is picturesque and delightful and a special alternative to busy Fort William. Water in the hotel is provided, (including the drinking water) from a fast-flowing stream that tumbles out of the hills.

Room Tip: The front rooms don't seem to suffer from undue traffic noise.

More's the pity I could only stay 1 night. I had a charming room with a comfortable bed and lovely outlook and even though the room faced the road, I slept like a top. The hosts, Ina, Kieron and Alastair were delightful to chat with and made my stay memorable. And the food was superb. The only negative was that there is no lift.
