We stayed here for just one night on a round-Scotland-by-train trip in May 2014. Trudging the short walk from Glenfinnan Railway Station to the Hotel in the rain hardly put us in the right frame of mind BUT upon arrival the welcome we received more than raised our spirits.

Ina made a point of welcoming us straight away. The check in process was painless and welcoming. We were shown to our four-poster room and (once Ina was satisfied we were happy) left to settle. The room was lovely. Because of the hotel's location you're not going to get views over the Loch but the view is nontheless a welcome break from a 2-bed terraced house in Swindon.

We ate in the dining room that evening. The food was excellent quality - especially considering the most reasonable pricing. You could see that the owners were doing their best to use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. A good selection of bottled local real ales was also available. After food, were were able to stay in the lounge for the evening and again found the place friendly and the fellow guests struck that great balance between being sociable and not being in your face.

An excellent night's sleep followed. We were up at early doors the next morning (6am) to catch the sunrise. A quick 15 minute walk takes you down the hill to the shores of Loch Shiel and the Glenfinnan monument. The mists cleared and the sun came out offset against a crisp blue sky. This proved to be the highlight of the trip. As is typical for the West Highlands, the sun didn't last long however, the rain clouds were back by mid morning.

We took breakfast in the hotel before departure. Our morning welcome was equally as welcoming as that on arrival. Breakfast was hearty and tasty, with plenty of options if you didn't want to succumb to the full cooked breakfast. Given the standard of the evening meal the night before we felt that we had no choice but to go for the "full monty" - and it set us up nicely for the day ahead.

In short, a superb hotel, a lovely welcoming stay and excellent food in relaxing surroundings. Scottish hospitality at its absolute best. Thank you all!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Loved our stay, it was very quiet, the food was great and the room was very comfortable. Ina and her son Alastair made a point of remembering our names and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is a 10 min walk from the glenfinnan monument and an easy drive to the ferry to the Isle of Sky. Would love to stay here again.

Stopped for a meal on the way to fort William from mallaig having enjoyed a visit there a few years back. Laidback enough to stay in walking gear, this informality belies a seriously good restaurant. The welcome was warm and all staff exceptionally friendly and attentive, especially the female owner/manager. Both main courses were fabulous and the cheese plate beautifully presented with authentic local cheeses. A good range of bottled real ales too. We will keep going back there and would even regard it as a worthy drive from fort William as an evening meal choice. Well worth discovering!

We stayed for a night on our trip to Skye. A family run hotel, very helpful and friendly owners. Our room was lovely with attractive decor. Food was excellent, a very comprehensive menu to cover all tastes, food sourced from local produce. Return again, yes please!

..and possible the best in the area, very good location between Mallaig and Fort William. Kieron and Ina are truly great housekeepers, real lovely and friendly people. Rooms are spotless and the food is spot on - two Rosettes say it all really. Only intended staying the one night then over to Inverness but ended up going back for a second night it was that good :) if you're traveling solo coming up to midnight and you're not booked in anywhere, don't despair!! Thanks again. M

Having stayed a couple of times before we knew what awaited us............Great food wine and company. Ina and Keiron run a super hotel where the welcome is warm and the wine is chilled nicely. We stayed for three nights and couldn't wait to get back in the evening to see what awaited us for dinner! Yes! the food is that brilliant and all prepped and cooked by Keiron single handedly. All the produce is from local suppliers and Ina can tell you exactly who supplied what. The rooms and spotlessly clean and comfortable and the location ensures peace and quiet. Breakfast has a fantastic choice and sets you up for the day ahead.
Nothing is too much trouble for these hosts. All in all a smashing place to stay.

Old inn with creaking floors. We were upgraded to the Stewart Room, with a four-poster bed (also creaky!) which was a large room overlooking the road and hillside. Very quiet. The room had many thoughtful touches, ie: chocolates, sherry, fresh roses, hospitality tray, and assorted books. Lovely well-equipped bathroom with rain shower and hand-held shower as well. On our first night we ate in the restaurant in the conservatory at the front of the hotel, with a set menu which was outstanding. On the second night (a Sunday) only bar meals were available, but these were of a very high standard with a varied menu, and the bar has a lively atmosphere. Breakfasts were excellent with local produce, and many home-made items like muesli, fruit compote and even the yoghurt. Ina is a very attentive hostess, cheerful and helpful, and Kieron well deserves his two AA rosettes. We highly recommend this hotel.
