“The best way to experience Alona beach on a budget”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

We stayed here for 5 days, on & off while exploring panglao island and its surrounds. While not being luxurious or on the beach, Cherry's does not disappoint. It has to be the best value for money I have gotten out of a guesthouse. Comfortable, clean rooms with air con, bar fridge and in room safe.

The highlights are the HOT shower which lasts for ages (an anomaly in a place like Bohol), a great pool and spa area, a rooftop deck and a great restaurant with affordable food and drinks, where you can sit on the verandah and watch the world go by.

The staff are some of the most friendly and accommodating people I have met, and if anything they were always overstaffed which meant that the place was always spotlessly clean and there was always someone around the corner to serve you no matter what time of the evening.

It must be noted that Cherry's is not on the beach, but a short 5-10 minute walk will take you there, and there are so many shops and restaurants that surround it that you can try a different cuisine every night. Philippe Tarsier Cafe just a little way down the street was the best place for a quite, morning coffee, served to western standards.

Most of the time will be spent out touring, renting scooters or walking around the place, so as long as you have a quite and clean place to rest your head at night, you will be sure to have a great time.

My tip is to get to the poolside bar at the Alona Beach cliffside resort, called Amorita, just before sunset, order some happy hour cocktails and watch the sun go down (without having to fork out thousands of dollars to stay there!) it's a beautiful sight!

rooms are really affordable with aircon, tv, ref, wifi, free breakfast and a pool....quite near to alona beach and to restaurants, atm machine and taxicles :) tho we didnt stay there for one whole day because we were always out, its great that when its time for rest, we will find our room clean. well, the water is salty. only meant for bathing and not for brushing teeth :| sometimes the water is strong, sometimes not. staff are friendly enough. they dont have rags n the room. i just hope that the management will put double locks on the doors for security purposes.

We stayed here July 5,6,7 and occupied 1 quad and 2 big twin rooms as we were a party of 11.
The room was clean, it had shampoo sachets and 2 small bars of soaps per room. The AC were working fine and the sheets were clean. Honestly, we spend a lot of time outside doing tours so going back to our clean and air conditioned rooms was a welcome respite. The pool was also very nice to cool down to after the heat of the sun. The place is a walking distance to eating places, stores and the beach. To all the people who complains of the water being salty and all, be advised that this is apparently how the water is in Panglao due to its proximity to the sea and their water supply (as told by our tour guide). Other than this, its a good stay, no complaints.

Stayed here for a week with a mate in a standard room. We included the breakfast, which was great to have every morning and good value too. The swimming pool was great to dip in just before the sun goes down. The rooms are air conned, which after a day in the sun is brilliant. The hotel is only a short walk away from the beach, which was brilliant. This village was not over crowded with party people, it was a lot more for the relaxation, which is just what I needed after the rushing and bustling cities of Manila and Cebu. The service was great too and very clean. This is a highly recommended place to stay for both value and location.

The hotel is located at the main road, but the noise can't be heard from the room so it's okay. It's conveniently situated near some restaurants, souvenir and convenient stores. Right next to it are bars which are quite pricey.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful to us. They catered to our needs asap.

The pool area is quite big---and there's a Jacuzzi too! The water tastes weird though, so try not to get some in your mouth.

Our room, room 1, was directly in front of the pool area, near the dining hall and the lobby.
The family room was big for 6 people. The beds were wide but not that long enough, so my tall friends couldn't really fit perfectly. The TV was small and was directly above one of the beds. The room had a big fridge and a safety deposit box. There were 4 hangers provided for 6 people, which was weird.

They all provided us with towels. Inside the bathroom was a soap dispenser and shampoo sachets. The shower itself was weak and can't give much water so I had a hard time bathing. There was also no shower curtain separating it from the toilet which was not really good. Again, the water tasted weird...and it kind of seemed like it came from the pool area.

They had a free continental breakfast, which didn't quite satisfy the hungry stomachs of my friends. It consisted of 2 eggs, 1 1/2 bread and a free choice of drink---not really a great meal to get you started for the day.

The beach is a few minutes walk (10-15 minutes) from the hotel, which is both a pro and a con.It was magnificent because it is like the beach in boracay, only less polluted.

If I come back to bohol, I'd find another place to stay... one that's nearer the beach and where the water for taking a bath doesn't taste the same as the one in the pool. Also, I don't think the 4k pesos is worth it given the said distance. I bet there are cheaper places that are closer to the beach. Though, this is an okay alternative.

Room Tip: Room 1- in front of the pool area.

Thanks to Cherry's, our trip was hassle-free. Bedroom was clean, bathroom was clean as well. Water is salty but I think the hotel can't do anything about it. Restaurants are nearby. The beach is a five-minute walk. Place was highly secured. I tried going out in the night, the doors are closed. But their security guard is still vigilant. We left our things in our rooms, nothing was lost.

Room Tip: Room #14's AC unit is dripping. It makes a mess on its front door.

We had a nice room, spacious with air conditioning, hot water, fridge and comfortable bed. It was very clean. The pool is nice, and the terrace on the top floor is good for relaxing and reading. It is 5 minutes walk to the beach. Breakfast is included, but only the basic one - if you want any other type of breakfast you have to pay the difference which seemed a bit mean.

Nightclub next door was noisy, but you can't blame the hotel for that - anywhere you stay in Panglao is likely to have some noise. From our three weeks in the Philippines, Panglao is the place we liked the least. It is crowded and expensive, with lots of people hassling you trying to sell you stuff and an average beach at best.
