We stayed here for 5 days. It is a budget friendly place for those people who had limited budget. Tha place is just 2minutes walk to the beach, we just passed the bohol divers resort going to the beach. The place is also quiet and nature lover for those who wants to be far from noise of bars. The staff are very approachable. They provided us for what we need. They immediately response to our every request. This hotel was referred by KUYA DODONG (he's the one who booked us and arranged our tour for 5days). The tour itself was very memorable and amazing. I can say that I saw the 3/4s of bohol already.

The first hotel we checked in at Bohol was at Panglao Island, the view was super beautiful but we asked for our tour specialist Kuya Dodong to transfer us to the heart of Bohol the next day, ALONA Beach (because our group is somewhat party animals).. Kuya Dodong transferred us at Villa Almedilla. It's not beach front but just a very few minutes away to the beach, the bar and restaurants.

The air-conditioned room is big and costs us at a very minimum expense. Room is clean and so is their comfort rooms. The hotel employees were very accommodating and to justify this sentence, I think we are one of the very demanding guests of this hotel and yet they serve us with a beautiful smile.

After checking a few nearby budget options, and also the nearby Bohol Beach divers we finally decided on Villa Almedilla after concluding that the cleanliness in comparison to the price was outstanding (even in comparison to the rest of the places on the beach except the upscale places).

The hotel is located roughly 100m from the beach and 200m from the mainroad. At the mainroad walk to the right some 100m and you'll find some local grill-restaurants with "local prices" and not the touristy pricy food you see down on the beachfront. The beer here cost 40pesos for 1litre for instance. Food doesnt set you back more than a few USD each and for that price, you get a lot of barbequed meat/fish =) To the beachfront restaurants and where all the action is, you need to walk down to the beach and walk for a few minutes but its not far. In fact, its quite nice to be away from the action as it gives you a very quiet surroundings with no disturbances.

Dont be fooled if you arrive when its dark, as the place is safe and secure albeit the dark unpaved road greeting the guest upon arrival. I can recommend having a small flashlight with you as the walk on the beach and up to the mainroad as the area is not well-lit and a bit bumpy.

At the end of our stay at Villa Almedilla we found out that they sold drinks, had a tourservice and even helped us book a moped-tuktuk and ferrytickets. If we had known about the drinks we wouldnt have to haul it from the store each day, so a tip for the owners is to perhaps enhance the business by placing small info-notes in each room to let their guests know whats on offer.

The staff and owners was very helpful, accomodating, friendly and great at english with a curious interest in their guests. We had the chance to get to know most of the staff and owners over a Christmas dinner which they invited me and my wife to. It was much appreciated and the way you cooked it; you should consider opening a restaurant! It was great and we had a super-good time.
Furthermore, we had not booked anything for our upcoming two stops on our trip through the Philippines and it was during the fully-booked days around Christmas and New year and we received great advice and help on bookings and calls made on our behalf to reserve rooms which was much appreciated.

Overall, a great no-frills budget stay with very clean rooms, Wi-fi in the room, small tv with cabel channels, hot showers and a VERY helpful and accomodating staff and owners. Even the beds are pretty good. They are not super-hard like most budget options in the Philippines. In closing; If you are a budget traveler looking for a clean, quiet, friendly and comfortable stay. This is the place for you.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the aircon rooms on the 2nd floor.

Arrived late at night by shared taxi total cost 500p from Bohol ferry wharf. Got last room 800p fan or 1500 air cond. I always go for fan rooms as air con bothers me. No insect screens on windows however I used an electric pad insect repellent and bugs did not bother me. No in-room safe. Beds new and very comfortable. Room has a big bench and chairs and outside table to sit and watch the sunset. Rooms face west so get hot late afternoon. Alona Beach is nice but food and accommodation expensive there compared to say Sihanoukville's Ochiteaul Beach in Cambodia, a similar feel to Alona. There is a nice cheap place mid beach for breakfast but I only found one place with good value food. i.e. 40p for scrambled eggs and toast. Lots of honeymooners and short stay travellers at Alona.

There is a jeepney to town from main road 200metres from Villa Almedilla 40 pesos around 7 a.m. Takes around 1.5 hrs to town. Saw another returning around 5 p.m. These are used by locals to get to work. I took one to get back to town for my ferry at 10 a.m. Taxi from jeepney drop-off around 60 pesos to ferry wharf. Try to get early ferry from Cebu as taxis are way too expensive after dark.

Villa Almedilla is very well managed and staff are obliging and friendly. Beer is cold and cheap and can be bought from reception, no breakfast provided. I always take some muesli and powdered milk. Construction of a new level is underway but builders are aware of room guests and noise was minimal in Nov 2011. Should be completed by March 2012. Villa Almedilla is one of the best budget places I have stayed anywhere in Asia.

Room Tip: I stayed upstairs rear room. More good luck than anything. Tell the lovely ladies at reception you need a quiet room as locals are awake early.
