We stayed for 3 nights. Took a motorbike to see the ttarsiers and chocolate hills. The rooms are nice and clean. The only problem is the not so comfortable matrassrs, eich kept slidind sideways durring the night. Brekfast was also yammy and reasonably priced.

Great decoratoin, really enjoyed the (unfortunately) long stay. The staff (french couple) are really friendly and helpful, price is more than good for the quality of rooms and the guesthouse grounds, as its located in a beautiful garden! Nearby beach is very popular but not to my taste, too crowded and overdeveloped. Would definitely recommend it to someone wanting to stay in that area of bohol!

Room Tip: All rooms are great, decoration is fantastic, really in the reggae mood!

We stayed at Reggae Guesthouse in June 2012 for 5 nights, As name suggests, The Reggae Guesthouse is well themed around 'Reggae' with attention to colours and theme throughout the guesthouse - including the chalet styled rooms. My Girlfriend and I had a fantastic time, the owners (Bilbo and Chanti) are great hosts. Accommodation was great, comfortable, clean and safe.

The bungalows are quite spacious too, very clean, and have all the basic amenities you need for a Tropical holiday!

Chanti and Bilbao always go out of their way to assist on places to visit. Thank you both for truly making our holiday memorable.

The Reggae Guesthouse is only 3 to 5 mins walk from main bars with Music, and 8 to 10 mins walk to the beach; which has many bars. We met some great people (other guests and locals) and had a fab time. We stayed a total of 2 weeks in the Philippines, 5 nights were at the Reggae Guesthouse, we were very sad to move on; but had a travel agenda to continue!

We absolutely loved this place and will be returning. If you want to stay at a relatively peaceful place with lots of greenery and meet wonderful travellers, this place is for you!

Chanti is an excellent cook, so breakfast is a delight in the morning.... with proper (fantastic) fresh coffee (which is hard to find as many bars seem to serve a cup of hot water and give you a Nescafe sachet to add!!)....

On a Sunday afternoon / evening, the Reggae Guesthouse have a 'Reggae Night' where locals and guests 'come to chill' chat and listen to Reggae music. When we were there some locals arrived with Bongs and Drums which were passed around....and the night was overall wonderful.

I am currently writing this review and only wished that we could be there now..

The reggae guesthouse is located near Alona beach - which is a great place to stay if you like diving but is kind of far from other attractions such as the chocolate hills or tarsiers since it's located on Pangalo Island. It took us almost 2.5 hours to drive to the chocolate hills and Davao adventure park - we took a cab basically off roading on the muddy roads and it cost us about 2,500 pesos for the day. The hotel owners recommended a person to travel with - he was okay. Just a driver, nothing more.

The place itself is well maintained and clean. There is a garden outside all the bungalows and they play reggae music from around 4 - 8pm. Overall, outside of the Bungalows exceeded my expectations. But don't expect to hang out with the owners. We chose this hostel because we thought it would be very social - it wasn't. The owners seemed to be indifferent towards us and were actually rude at one point. I think the pictures that they have on facebook and etc (of people hanging out) don't really depict the actual environment of the place. Don't book this place just because you think you'll meet really cool people. We were traveling in October (low season) so that could also be a factor.

The rooms are just rooms (what you pay for). My only complaint about the rooms is that they don't provide you with a blanket - it's literally a bamboo bed, a mattress (which was really thin and not the comfiest), and a sheet. I recommend that if you're staying here to bring a blanket and extra towels. There is also one fan in the room (no air con) so just know that when you choose this place.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this hostel. But I think I had very high expectations since all the reviews on this site rave about this hostel. It's good for what you pay for. But don't expect anything amazing.

The wine is not 1 peso per glass. It's actually 60 pesos. A pretty average price for a glass of wine in the area.

If you're looking for an affordable stay with a very relaxing environment not too far away from Alona Beach, the Reggae Guesthouse is ideal. The bungalows are quite spacey, with a front porch and bathroom included. What is most beautiful about this place is the garden and abundance of herbs and flowers all around the property. The owners are very helpful in providing information regarding tours and local attractions. The only downside to this place (as well as most of Bohol) is that they do not accept credit cards, so be prepared to pay for everything in cash.

Hosts are fabulous, so friendly and accommodating. About a 8 min walk to the beach which was fine for us. If you're looking for a nice place to stay on a budget, this is the place to be!!

The place was really good. The decorations were cool and the owners (Bilbo and Chatti) were great and chilled out people who were very helpful. Bungalows were not equipped with air-con but at night, the fan in there was more than enough. The bar lounge was a perfect place to meet other guests and to chill. The drinks were very reasonably priced and reggae music was always playing in the background. Don't forget to ask Bilbo and Chatti for advice on places to visit and they can actually arrange trips for you, saving up the hassle comparing prices from different hawkers on the beach. Not exactly located next to the beach but it was only a max 10 min walk to the famed Alona Beach.
Among the guesthouses I have stayed in so far in a few southeast asian countries, this is the best so far, and I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
