“More than the usual”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

This resort gave me and my college friends a great feeling of adventure. More than the usual resorts, what we like about it the most is the touch of nature and the mysterious eerie nights it brought us. We were allowed to cook and was able to feel the countryside of the island of Panglao. Sure to bring my family here in the future!

Free use of pool and may also play billiards. If you want to cook, you can also barrow utensils. So cheap, affordable and unique yet it was clean and decent.

the ONLY downfall is that it is not beachfront, though they have a service to bring you back and forth to the beach :)

We wanted to find a place to stay near Alona Beach on a budget and Alonaland was perfect. It is a bit of a walk to Alona Beach (maybe 10mins) but we did not mind this and there is a shuttle service to the beach if you don't want to walk. We were a group of 9 and paid a total of P12,000 for Room 18 and House 10 for 3 nights. The rooms are air-conditioned and the house had kitchen facilities just outside the entrance. It's a garden resort with a lovely pool and also a snooker table where some of our group met other travellers. Even met a crab friend scuttling across the grass one day!

The only problems we noticed were mosquitoes (and other bugs) on the balcony of Room 18 and quite weak water from the showers (but that's to be expected when on an island like Panglao.) We really did love House 10 though as it wasn't far from the pool and you felt that with your own house, rather than say a hotel its very private.

We had a bit of a problem on arrival as they tried to charge us extra because Room 18 was supposed to be for 2 people and we had 1 extra person. I had stated how many of us were travelling on booking and the owner Rolf had suggested those rooms. After a talk with him on arrival at his house behind the resort he did not make us pay anything more. I told him that if he wanted money for an extra person he should of told me that in his email when I booked.

The resort can also help you arrange your tours of Bohol etc. but we chose an external operator Angelbert Tourist Transport and they picked us up right from outside the resort (recommended!)

But all in all, we felt Alonaland was a great place to stay for our time in Bohol. If you're looking for something on a budget.

Room Tip: Room 18 is up some quite steep stairs. House 10 has a fridge and lounge area.

SERVICE: booked 2 mos. ahead and there was no prob with reservations with Mr.Rolf Eggli;
a simple but beautiful garden resort, quiet, very private (shared the resort with only 3 groups) & secured; with good WIFI service; no food service though
VALUE: we were a family of 4 (w/ kids) and we only paid P5,400 for a 4D/3N stay accommodation (best value for money since we were on tours by Bohol Grand Scenery Tours c/o Kuya Dodong most of the time)
SLEEP QUALITY: did not sleep soundly though 2 queen size beds were provided; beds were not comfortable to sleep with; bed linens were quite old; the window type AC is not cold enough with slight "gggrrr" sound
CLEANLINESS: clean & well-maintained surroundings esp. the kid friendly pool; staffs were always around to tidy up the place
LOCATION: not a beachfront resort but it is strategically located near Alona beach which is 5-10 min. walk from the resort; a free shuttle service is provided every hour for one's convenience; it is nearby main road, BPI ATM, Rona's convenience store, internet shops, souvenir shops, police station, "carinderia", etc.
ROOMS: reserved Rm.17 for 4 pax which is adjacent to the garden pool; with 2 queen size beds, window type AC, ceiling fan, wall-mounted TV, personal ref, cabinet w/ hangers, tables/chairs, spacious toilet/bath with hot & cold shower, mini kitchenette with complete appliances (gas stove, rice cooker, water dispenser) & utensils (kettle, spoons/forks, pans, plates, etc) with dining table at the terrace overlooking the garden pool

* stayed April 2012 and will definitely stay again! 100% highly recommended

We were 7 in the group and we only paid P2600 for an overnight accomodation. The place is clean, well maintained, and peaceful. Our room was huge, they have a lovely pool, and it only took 5 minutes to get to the beach. Kitchen and eating utensils are complete too. It's recommend for people who are travelling in groups.

The hotel staff were friendly but they lack experience. There were problems with our reservation upon check in and it took time for them to fix it because the owner was not in the Philippines to decide.... and they can't decide.Sigh. Then we waited another hour to wait for our rooms to get cleaned. Good thing we can use the billiard pool for free. Lastly, they did not provide towels. :( :( :(

We only stayed one night at Alonaland but will revisit soon . Rented a house for 2400 peso a night as we had 6 in our party . Accommodation was very clean and comfortable with fully equipped kitchen and spacious bathroom/cr . 5 minute walk to beach with two deli's nearby & market shopping made food costs affordable for a family . Peaceful & quiet in a natural setting we found it a delight .

Since Bohol is one of the major attractions in the country, it wasn't that hard to find an accommodation. But to travel in a big group like us, 9 adults and 1 child so a total of 10, it was quite a challenge to find a place that is not only accessible, clean, and safe but most importantly affordable. I've read a lot of blogs and reviews on different hotels and resort until I found Alonaland Resort!

This place offers accommodation good for 2, 4, 6 pax per cottage. Since we're 10, we got 2 cottages. Six of us all girls are in one big cottage which is at the far end of the resort and 4 boys are in the cottage fronting ours. Forgot the number though of the cottages we availed. But at their website there's like a map where each cottage is located. Our cottage is 2-storey w/ 1 big room downstairs that has 2 queen size bed, cabinet, AC and safety box. Upstairs has 1 queen size bed, 1 single bed, AC and a balcony. It also has a big toilet/bath room. The cottage is complete w/ kitchen appliances (fridge, gas stove, rice cooker) and utensils (plates, fork and spoon, knives, cooking pots). There's also a living room that has a TV and fan. There's a patio-like area outside the cottage where you can dine, a grill spot in the corner and a hammock! The other cottage w/c is good for 4 pax has 2 queen size bed, a toilet/bath room, AC, cabinets, fridge and TV.

The housekeepers also tidy up your cottage upon request and there's towel and toilet paper supply as well. We spent like 400/pax for a night. So for 3 nights there we paid like 1200/pax.

And did I mention that they have a swimming pool in the resort and their location is near Alona beach which usually has higher room rates compared w/ other accommodations outside Panglao. Really this resort is a value for the money. I totally recommend this place to anyone visiting Bohol!

Room Tip: For travelers in a group of 5-6, choose the cottage at the far end! It's spacious, quieter, and...
