On Thursday 26 June my husband & I made the unfortunate decision to have lunch at the Red Lion. It wasn't too busy (I was the only customer at the bar) and waitress "Lorraine" made it quite clear that she was sooo busy entering information into the till that I would have to wait to be served. I didn't have a problem with this initially & patiently waited - although a little bemused. Eventually, I ordered 2 drinks, a cooked lunch for my husband & a sandwich for myself.
Lorraine brought the meals to us & as she walked away my husband called her back & asked for some English mustard. She again made it quite clear that this was a real inconvenience to her due to being sooo busy. Again bemused by this as it really wasn't that busy, we found it quite amusing. However, when she returned with the mustard, I realised that I needed some mayo sauce. Lorraine's abrupt & rude response was "I'm sorry I'm too busy to get that" & started to walk off!! I said "excuse me, I'm only asking for some mayo???"
"You'll have to wait!!!" Was her response this time. So I offered to fetch the mayo myself & stood up to go & get some. Lorraine looked me square in the face & said in a very condescending tone "I HAVE TO FETCH IT - YOU CAN'T!!! I'LL GET IT WHEN I CAN!!!"
At this point we were gobsmacked at the diabolical service we were receiving as paying customers.
Eventually she brought the mayo & went over to an adjacent table to have a 5 minute chat to 2 women about how they were doing with their diet regime & shared experiences of their local Slimming Clubs. Obviously sooo busy indeed???!
Like a previous review on 26.06.14 we were made to feel that if we didn't like it - then go elsewhere!! That is exactly what we will do next time!!
