Due to lack of suitable disabled accommodation, I booked into the new Captains Rooms. The room was beautiful and well appointed, with efficient heating. The bathroom stunning, with sensor low lights, making those mid night visits easy. A lovely sea view. Disappointed at the lack of drawers to put things into, instead of leaving them around making the room look untidy. On request, a shower stool was supplied on loan, and suction grab rails were put up, to make the easily accessible shower user friendly for the disabled. The food was greatly improved this time, but unfortunately it was mostly lukewarm by the time it reached the table. They need to find a better system to keep meals hot, until the waiter/waitress is ready to deliver them to the guests. The entertainment team put on a panto this time, which was excellent. The normal in house entertainment is rather end of school term show, and has been mostly the same shows each week for a year. They need to change them more often, for the benefit of regular guests. The musicals show is ok, but needs to have different musicals featured. My advice for chosing a good room, would be to book a Captains room, but dont have room 901, unless you are a latenight reveller, as you can hear the music from the solent lounge through the walls. I had to use earplugs and a pillow over my head to get to sleep!
