“Excellent Weekend Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Four of us (2 couples) stayed here for the August Bank Holiday weekend for the third year running and re-booked for the same time next year. I am surprised at some of the criticisms made by some people of the food as we find it absolutely fine, Although I found some breakfast items a little cold for my preference on Saturday morning but all meals were fine after that and in no way detracted from the stay as a whole and Tom our waiter was friendly and catered for our every need.
Our Signature room overlooking the gardens was serviced regularly and was a pleasure to stay in again. Although there had been a double booking and we were surprised to find other people already in our room however this was sorted promptly and efficiently by the hotel and again in no way detracted from our stay.
Another mention of a member of staff must go to Kirsty in sorting out our ferry crossing Top Marks for her for going that extra mile.
I think I should mention that the August Bank Holiday weekend coincides with the Isle of Wight Scooter Rally and some people have come for that weekend and brought their scooters with them so the roadway can be a little noisier than usual during the day but not intrusive and the evening entertainment may not be to an individuals taste but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
So to sum up our stay, the hotel is in a lovely position where you can sit outside the bar on the paved area with a drink and watch the ships go by.
Our room we have no complaints about neither have our companions one of which has only one leg and was able to use the walk in shower with no problems.
The restaurant and food again we enjoyed with plenty of choice even for the fussiest of eaters surely.
Evening entertainment was very good and seats we did not find uncomfortable and had no problem sitting on for the evening.
And praise again to staff members in dealing with all problems we had and help and advice on questions asked.
As mentioned previously we have already booked for the same time next year and are looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side facing the garden get the afternoon sun so just right for using the patio ar...

Looking for an hotel which combines what must be a prime location, equivalent with the best in southern France, and a social mix across the spectrum - which works - this is the ideal. A long shore entirely at the disposal of guests, the passage of liners great and small to and from Southampton, the coast of the mainland, and the rising sun drenching the huge lawns and sun-beds galore; this must be the very best on offer in the Isle of Wight.
Bedrooms containing all one could require on a short or long break, especially those with sea views, and a well trained staff eager to please at all times. Evening and much other entertainment, all combined with the absence of demanding children, make this a must for adults. Indoor and outdoor sports ranging from bowls to swing-ball; no one yearning for anything.
Dining, maximising but not necessarily buffet, with carvery choices every evening, and attentive waiting staff anxious to please. Quality piping hot food, extremely well prepared and satisfying the most demanding taste; the dining experiences more than place this Warner hotel at the top of provision whether for the younger or older adult. Bar prices not extortionate, and few extras lead to a truly manageable bill.
Strongly commended!

Room Tip: Seek a sea view; many on ground floor step out on to patio areas.

Our stay at warners bembridge was excellent ,food, room with sea view, staff, entertainment, cleanliness and so quiet.walks on beach or on the lawns.can't wait to go back. The food could not be faulted, but please remember to close food containers after use, all credit to the chefs they do a wanderful job,as do the waiters.Drinks are expensive 5.50 class of wine beer nearly 4.00 a pint. Well done Warners

Visited hotel earlier this year for 40th anniversary celebration, bowled over with everything. Booked as one of daughters 21st birthday celebration's this year (Natalie has Downs Syndrome)
Arranged for celebration package in May and paid for. On arrival was shown table for meals and enquired about table decoration, employee looked surprised but informed us it would be ready, although 40th celebration table was already set on arrival and kept for duration of stay.
How very upsetting and utterly disappointed to arrive for evening meal and met with 2 cheap and nasty balloons not filled with helium, plonked on table preventing us from being able to put our plates down to eat, had to be placed on floor. 3 union jack serviettes obviously left over from the previous weeks celebrations and 3 cheap party blowers which might have been used previously. I had BOOKED AND PAID for a 21st celebration package what a complete and utter let down. I informed reception and explained I did not want a scene made in front of my daughter but would not expect to pay for such appalling service. The so called decorations disappeared never to be seen again after our meal
A gentleman (possibly the manager) came to our table discreetly and said a VIP table would be set up in the entertainment hall. What a JOKE we were given a table with a name card on and a battery operated candle. NO WAITER SERVICE FOR EVENING. NO COMPLIMENTARY DRINK as stated in brochure. We did not even receive an apology. On leaving and settling our bill I enquired about a refund for the non existent celebration package to be told a refund had been made on my debit card that was used to purchase the package in May. I wasn't convinced as companies are not allowed to retain card details without authorisation but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Interestingly by the time I arrived home the £110 I spent has been taken from my account with no sign of the £12.95 refund !!!
First night's evening meal CARVERY consisted of Gammon, dried up chicken breast and salmon fillets. Overcooked cauliflower and carrots with roast potatoes. Only one item could be defined as carvery and only one type of potato can hardly be acceptable. Second evening meat was overcooked and dried up, needless to say we did not attempt the so called carvery after our experience.
This was not the wonderful experience we had earlier in the year and feel terrible that we will have to tell our family who are members that we will not be joining them next year at Bembridge as previously discussed.
My daughters 21st celebration experience was totally ruined by this lack of service.
I am writing a formal letter of complaint to the General Manager Phil Howden.
To leave on a positive our room was excellent and the entertainment staff absolutely brilliant a BIG THANK YOU to all of them

Returning for a weekend break this time, we had a ground floor, patio standard room, with a view facing the gardens which benefited from the afternoon sunshine. The room was pleasant although a little cramped, as my friend has mobility issues and uses a wheeled walking aid. It was disappointing to find that Warners no longer offer guests the use of suction grabrails for the bathroom. We were offered the phone number of a mobility shop who would hire these to us, but we declined and my friend just had a wash at the sink, as using the shower was impossible under these circumstances. We had praised the hotel previously, for providing such basic equipment on request, to make the rooms 'disabled friendly', so finding this facility removed was frustrating. Sadly, if we have another break at this hotel, it will have to be in a bog standard room, with limited washing facilities for my friend, as there is no point paying the extra for a larger room, especially the Captains Rooms, as the facilities are not suitable for those with difficulties. Or maybe now we know, we could bring them and a shower seat from home, but that just adds to the luggage to transport for a short time use. There is only one wet room in the hotel, that has the required grabrails, and that is usually fully booked well in advance. This usually comes with the unpleasant aroma of incontinence pads from previous guests. It was pointed out by staff that this is not a care home, which I appreciate, but having been offered the considerations previously it seems mean to withdraw them. On a more positive note, I must commend the restaurant for providing mouth watering meals. Most of the staff are lovely and very helpful around the hotel. The beauty salon offers lovely treatments, but would benefit from a hairdressing option as well. The entertainment is usually of a good standard and the resident entertainment team shows are of a high quality, especially the new musicals format Curtain up. Hanna Robinson's voice is impressive.

Room Tip: For sea views, choose solent views north rooms with even numbers. For afternoon sunshine choose, sol...

This is a lovely hotel, the rooms are good, even the standard ones. The food is excellent and the entertainment is pretty good too. The staff both in the restaurant are very helpful. Would definitely visit again

My wife and i have just returned from a 3 night break. We have now visited 6 of Warners properties and found this to be the nicest so far.The signature room with patio was excellent and the food extremely good with only Nidd Hall competing with it.If i had to find a negative it would be that the seating in the cabaret room was uncomfortable and it is not easy to last through the shows for a couple of hours or so.A word of advice though if booking online.I booked 'Views North' expecting to be looking towards the Solent but found that only even numbered rooms in that block look towards the sea.We had room 29 which looked over the grounds and was certainly not facing North. We saw however that Solent facing rooms are a distance from the sea and there was vegetation obstructing the view anyway.Despite this we were pleased all round.

Room Tip: See my comments about booking carefully.
