Came here from Bembridge Windmill. Beware you need to pay to park but this is not immediately obvious. The Lifeboat Station is accessed along a walkway and then a set of steps. The gentleman present was very knowledgeable and made our visit very interesting, telling us about recent rescue launches, the launch and recovery procedure and much more. RNLI shop adjoins the car park.
We are delighted that you found your recent visit to Bembridge Lifeboat Station with our Tamar Class All-Weather Lifeboat (RNLB Alfred Albert Williams) so informative and interesting. Thank you very much for your support and for recommending us to others; however we are obviously a bit disappointed that unlike so many other visitors you did not feel that we warranted an "excellent" review. Our crew and guild members, and in particular our volunteer "Visits" guides & those serving in the "Shop" are extremely proud of the fact that most visitors normally do give us 5 out of 5!
For anyone reading this response please note that the daily opening times of our Shop & the Offshore Boathouse are 11am to 4pm until the end of October. There is a lift to the Viewing gallery in the Offshore Boathouse for those who can't manage the steps. We also have a wheelchair (thanks to Island Mobility) for anyone how feels they can't walk all the way to the Boathouse - please ask in the shop if you would like to use it.
For those staying at the Bembridge Coast Hotel, there is normally a weekly talk on the RNLI on Tuesday afternoons at 4.30pm in the bar area and conducted tours of Bembridge RNLI on Thursdays and Saturdays at 13:30. You will find details in Reception.
Details of how to keep in touch with us, information on our operational "shouts" and when we are planning on launching for training can be found on our local Bembridge Lifeboat website. Please note that we do not always launch on a Tuesday evening for training.
Finally, please don't forget to always "Respect the Water". If you find yourself unexpectedly in cold water, fight your instinct to swim and just float for the first three quarters of a minute. For more information please visit the RNLI "Respect the Water" website.

We took a coastal walk along to the Lifeboat station and to have a look across the sea. It was a wonderful evening, we were going to have a walk up the pier to the station unfortunately the guys and gals got a shout and had to go to sea. So we decided not to get in their way and let them have full use of the pier to run up. It was a fantastic site to see the boat launch though, lets hope whoever they had to help was OK.
Unfortunately the shop was not open so could not purchase anything, but did buy from the Yarmouth port shop.
Keep up the fantastic work.

Great place to visit, steeped in history both local and national. Fantastic seeing the lifeboats up close. A valuable service which needs our support as we never know when we may need help upon the water.

This was one of the highlights of our 2 day stay on IOW. The place was immaculate and the lovely gentleman that greeted us as we wondered in was just fab! Full of knowledge and interesting facts, not a single question asked was too small, big or silly! I could’ve stood there all day and spoken to him! Definitely worth a visit for such a worthy cause!
