Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park
Reviewed 29 June 2014

The site itself is ok, decent level ground for pitching a tent, nice pub and beach (bit of a walk) and good facilities. The toilets and showers were clean but far too few due to a block been closed for 'refurbishment'. Not sure what this means as the lights were always on and running water could always be heard, I suspect they were just closed until peak season.

The one thing which let the whole site down was the PGL activity. Every morning they were allowed to play around the tents, even if the occupants were not yet up, shouting a screaming evey night and a disco on Thursday evening. After complaining to security about the disco told there was nothing they could do as it is an arrnaged event. The PGL staff have obviously got no consideration for the other people on holiday.

Room Tip: Do not camp in the bottom field on the left, near the PGL marquee on the other side of the fence.

I'm sorry that the kids from PGL disturbed you & that the group's leaders did not lead them in the way that we would have wished. The ablution block that was closed during your stay on park was done so in order that some remedial works could be carried out on the showers within however this work has now been completed. Whilst it may have been a slight inconvenience having this block closed, we still had ample facilities for all of our guests

After checking in, our directions weren't clear we were given a map but that wasnt very clear eather, after riding around for a bit we had to ask someone else for directions we eventually was in the right field, field C it still wasnt that clear where the non electric pitches were. We found the ground to be very uneven I nearly twisted my ankle twice. We finally pitched up and went to the nab bar which we ordered two burgers and chips we thought it was over priced for what we got. Then at 7 oclock pm in field C it seemed like 100 school kids PGL parents get lost club came into the field all spread around the field and all around the tents playing games with team leaders. That went on until 9 o'clock. Then the next morning at 9 am it seemed about 200 PGL kids came to play on the field amongst us campers with their team leaders this time VERY VERY close to everyone's tents with no care consideration one bit. No team leader said anything to any campers they were throwing things over tents like we werent their. If I wanted to camp in a school playing field this would have been ideal. We complained to the lady in the office asking to be moved, she was reluctant to move us and asked us why we told she said they shouldn't be in field C. Got the impression she didn't believe us. After complaining we went out then came back and they were all still their. So we packed up and went and found a much better campsite. Only stayed one night that was enough. st

Your review was so disappointing to read Emma especially as the 8 that follow yours have all been so complimentary. I'm sorry you found our maps confusing & I will have another look at them in case they need to be changed. The Guest Services team member was quite right in that PGL are not supposed to be on Field C & I'm sure if you had advised the Tenting & Touring Manager she would have moved them for you though of course I'm sorry if this was necessary.

We went to whitecliff sands last weekend, to be fair we stayed in the cheap accomadation, but wished we paid more to upgrade. Their on site disco was on till late, the all lads group behind us played rave music till they went out at 8:30, which didn't help us put our 1year old son down too easily (it wasn't rediculously loud music, just a little too loud and the lads didnt make any niose late at night so i didnt want to complain to the park attendants) the facilities were good though, although looking a bit old and tired in places. To be fair in was ok, considering the price we paid and the rest of the island was great!

Room Tip: If ur a young group go to the cheap rooms, if u want a good night sleep pay some more away from the...

First time to book with a sun holiday, upgraded to a luxury caravan as I was put off with the reviews of the economy chalets!
Fabulous caravan located near the nab bar, very modern and clean. Didn't have towels in arrival to the caravan so rang down to reception, and they were sent straight up with a welcome pack.... Bottle of rose, 2 bottles of lager, 2 bottles if pop, tea, coffee etc and toiletries!!!
Everywhere we went and done was perfect.... Impossible to do everything you want in 3 nights... Definitely going back for a visit!!

We arrived on a Saturday to be told our canvas cottage wouldn't be ready until Monday and were put in a chalet for the time being. The chalet wasn't the best of accommodation but as it was only temporary we got by and it done the job.
Monday came and we moved to our canvas cottage it was very roomy and had practically everything that we needed inside and a good view outside. We couldn't believe that when we returned from a trip out on the Tuesday somebody had decided to cut the wet grass around the tents, we spent ages trying to keep the tent clean but without a dustpan and brush it was difficult.
We used the Nab Bar for food and drink one night and found the drinks expensive, the food was ok but not brilliant. Also we found sometimes the showers were not clean due to people not cleaning them out after use and also doing the washing up the sinks were sometimes messy for the same reason, nothing to do with the staff and more to do with fellow campers not caring about anybody else.
Overall we had a good holiday and have booked a return visit next year.

I'm glad you were ok with beginning your holiday in a chalet Leslie but this was due to a problem with your particular Canvas cottage. Much like at home, sometimes small problems can occur & because we are talking about canvas & not solid walls it may take a day or two before they can be resolved. Just for future reference for next time, anyone can ask for housekeeping to attend with a hoover mid holiday if it's necessary.
