Golden sands with afresh-water stream which makes it ideal for dams and sandcastles. There is a large tidal range so watch you don't get caught out by the rising tide at the western end.

Clear water, clean beach and great facilities!
Spent a week in Carbis Bay on holiday and had a lovely time chilling out at the beach. The water was so clear that I saw tiny fish and even a small crab crawling across the seabed. The toilets are kept nice and clean. We visited on the last week of the summer holidays and i had expected it to be much busier. The beach was definitely busy but for the size of it, there was still lots of rom to move. There is very little (very expensive. £5 if it's grey/rainy or £10 if the forecast is good!) parking at this beach and walking down to the beach there are lots of very steep hills, so walking back up to where you are staying can be quiet a challenge. The food and bar is reasonably priced but the beach shop was rather expensive! As it was the only place to buy anything to keep us occupied we ended up spending £17 on a frisbee, football and whistling rocket thing! None of the items in the shop were priced either. The pizza sold from the beach bar was amazing! Spent a romantic evening with a cajan chicken pizza, cheesy garlic pizza and cider whilst watching the sun set. It was lovely!

As we stayed in The Gannet Hotel we didn't have to pay the £10 parking fee - so bonus then when we went into the beach it was absolutely beautiful a secluded cove with toilet facilities and hire facilities for water experiences like the stand on boards which were popular as the cove is safe for bathing - there was a cafe in the beach which was also good and clean - not overly busy probably because of the high parking fee and the sister Hotel was also lovely with good spa facilities thoroughly enjoyed our day here
You can also catch the train from here into St Ives

We were holidaying in Carbis Bay as a family (2 adults and 2 children, aged 11 and 1) and went to Carbis Bay Beach a few times during the holiday.
The water was crystal clear and beach shallow shelving with no surf, so ideal for children. The beach was clean and wasn't too busy, particularly once you moved away from the restaurant area of the beach. Lots of fun was had exploring the shoreline and the rocks. At low tide we even managed to walk round to the next bay, Porthkidney Sands. We hope to return to Carbis Bay in a couple of years and a trip to Carbis Bay beach will definitely be part of our plans.
The only negative I have is the take-away BBQ restaurant on the beach; its quite expensive (almost £50 for 3 burgers, 3 chips and 3 cokes) with not particularly great service. However, this is easily overcome by taking a picnic.
