When I booked this hotel for our family holiday I wanted a hotel with family apartments, sea close by, swimming pool and spa as well as general hotel facilities to use such as bar and restaurant. The Carbis Bay provided this, its set in a beautiful location with a great pool for your children to use and a spa for the parents to treat themselves! Plus the hotel offers children entertainment which is a great added plus and our daughter loved the various activities they provided each evening. Everything at the Carbis Bay was lovely although at times I found some of the staff on reception or in the Spa a little "cold" but didn't bother me too much. We had a painful experience when checking in as our apartment was not ready by 4pm, we had travelled a long way and had a 5 year old daughter whom was getting very hungry and tired gone 5.30pm. But the Hotel Owner was very apologetic and offered us a dinner in the hotel whilst we were waiting as well as free drinks and then when we did check into our apartment we found a lovely bottle of Bollinger as a gift as well because it was my Birthday. Although clearly there was a problem that day Jose quickly took care of us and we were then very happy customers. We enjoyed our holiday at the Carbis Bay and are actually thinking of booking it again for next summer so that really says it all! Additionally their was a train line that is a 5 min walk away which takes you right into St Ives so no need to drive in, which trust me is not pleasant and no parking, and our daughter loved the train ride!

Room Tip: Book an apartment if you are a family with kids as they give you everything you need!!!

Be warned, this hotel charges non-residents an extortionate £10 to park for the beach resulting in an overcrowded, shambolic car park. We were boxed in and had to wait for the car to be moved which then would not start! We were delayed & inconvenienced & so was the guy who boxed us in as he arrived back from a day out unable to park. We watched residents leaving for the day only for their parking spaces to be immediately taken up by non-residents fleeced of £10. I feel the management are to blame here for being greedy.

Website misleading with description. Not really luxury. Our rooms were VERY small with no space to spare. Quite old fashioned..esp piano playing in the bar - reminiscence of a Blackpool tea dance.

Beach described as private ..it may be owned by the same people but the website does not make it clear that the beach is open to anyone and everyone and they also rent out spaces in their too small car park for day trippers so parking is an absolute nightmare!

Corridors full of trolleys and bags of linen. Breakfast orders took too long - often waiting for 40 minutes. Pool area far too small for size of hotel.

Bar food overpriced and not that great. No air on and can't open window due to noise!

On the plus side, Staff very friendly. Great location.

No real competition so it doesn't need to try too hard. This hotel more for the older generation.

We'd had a lunch in this hotel on a previous visit to St. Ives so were really looking forward to going back. In the meantime the hotel and been developed and the new spa area was superb. My wife enjoyed a couple of massages whilst I sat overlooking the beach with a glass (or two) or champagne. Room, food and service all superb and we had a thoroughly relaxing 3 night break here. We will be going back

We stayed here as we were ending our SW coastal walk, so after a week of sleeping in camping sites, we made the wonderful decision of staying at this charming hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the moment we rang to make the reservation. They went out of their way to accommodate us and gave us very good tips for dining options. Our room had the most amazing view to the Carbis Bay area and hotel is only a 3-mins walk to the local train station. It was much better to have stayed at Carbis Bay instead of St Ives since it was so busy on the 1st week of August.
