“Perfect weekend getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

Hunchy Hideaway is just perfect! We stayed in the gumnut cottage which was fully equipped with everything you need! The breakfast hamper and fresh scones on arrival was such a lovely touch even down to the relaxing flute music that was on as you went into the cottage! DVDs are available at reception which was great as a big storm came over and Monteville town is only a 2 minute drive away! Ali & Dennis are just lovely and make you feel so very welcome. Will be sure to recommend Hunchy Hideaway to all our friends and family!

Room Tip: The gum nut cottage is lovely- very comfy bed and big spa bath!

Stayed at fig tree cottage and was absolutely lovely. We stayed for New Years and was nice to be away from all the noise and enjoy a relaxing New Years for once lol. The food such as the scones were delicious and the breakfast platter too. You get bacon, eggs, bread and all the utensils you need for the kitchen and BBQ. The bathroom was lovely and rose petals made it romantic. Got a massage there too recommended through hunchy which was wonderful. I would recommend staying here as it's close to Town and shops.

We stayed at the Panorama Cottage for 3 days to attend a friend's wedding in the area. The cottage is very secluded, our only visitors being a variety of birds and a dozen or so cows in the afternoon. Spectacular views down the valley, and enjoying the sunset from the hot tub is not to be missed. Only a few mins drive from Maleny, perfect for restaurants or grabbing supplies to cook with. Most of the nearby restaurants are not open on a Monday night though, so plan for a meal in on that night unless you want to travel 15 mins to Montville or another nearby town. The number for the cottage is set a little away from the road, so we drove past it first time. Best to slow down when you get close by in order not to overshoot it. Couldn't ask for better service from Ali and Denis, thank you so much. Everything else was idyllic, and we were disappointed to leave!

We stayed at Hunchy Hideaway for our 15th wedding anniversary and loved it. Great location. Great service. Great cabin. Great long weekend. We didn't want to leave. A secluded cabin close to Montville but we had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend together. From the generous food platters to the fire place, fresh roses and wine. Scones with jam and cream on arrival was a lovely touch as well. We would recommend Hunchy Hideaway to anyone looking for a relaxing or romantic time away.

We arrived here on a Friday afternoon and it was a lovely winter's day in QLD. The layout of the rooms are nice with the bedroom set away from the living area with two steps up to it. Very peaceful here surrounded by trees and plenty of wildlife to hear. Breakfast provisions were generous and was lovely to have scones in the fridge for afternoon tea. We also had the local possum visit both nights who has a taste for the bbq! If your planning on eating at the cottage at night I suggest bringing provisions as the local IGA is not really geared up for a big shop. Some great restaurants near by. I highly recommend Spicers Clovelly Estate nearby, see separate review. But yes lovely and relaxing and the kind of place you want to sit back and sit in on an evening with the fire lit. And we saw nobody the whole weekend, so thanks for the privacy.

My Husband and I have just spent 3 nights in the Fig Tree cottage. Hunchy Hideway more than met all the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor. Fig tree was a lovely large cottage, well furnished with a full kitchen should you want to cook. The scones on arrival were yummy, as was the breakfast hamper supplied. We had a BBQ pack on the Saturday night and the meat and salad provided was very good. The spa bath and double shower were a nice luxury. The surrounds are very private and suitably rainforest. We couldn't fault the cottage, staff were lovely and we look forward to another weekend up there soon. A few extra days would be nice. I would definitely recommend Hunchy Hideway for any occasion.

Room Tip: It is so lovely and peaceful that you don't want to leave so take some supplies for dinner and a...

My partner and I stayed in the Fig Tree cottage for the first time. Nicer than the pictures. Secluded and no children - finally! Enough breakfast for our time there. Note: IGA is more expensive so if you think you might eat-in one or two nights (it's hard to leave such a relaxing place) bring your own supplies. Scones and yogurt, amazing! Hunchy is in the perfect location, only 2 minutes from Montville. I recommend the Montville Gourmet Pizza and Pasta place for takeaway - really yum. Unfortunately my complimentary bottle of Birthday wine was forgotten, however we took a trip to Malaney Winery for the best tasting experience ever! Plus awesome views. The cottage has a brick fireplace which is center stage and so romantic. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the friendly turtle in the pond. Magical getaway, will be back to see the rest of the hinterland soon.
