Montville Misty View Cottages

We've just returned from our third stay at "Misty View". We've now stayed in three different cottages, including beautiful "Bali". This time it was "Blue Gum", which possibly has the most magnificent view of Lake Baroon. We were fortunate to see the the thick blanket of mist over the lake early one morning and then to see it dissipate to reveal the water sparkling in the sunlight. Montville is very charming and the gift shops and coffee shops enticing, but we found our cottage so cosy and peaceful and the view so wonderful that we opted to spend as much time as we could simply enjoying being "at home". We will certainly be back to experience the magic again.

Room Tip: We have been in three of the four cottages and they've all been wonderful.

We stayed here for two nights and wished we were there for a week. The cottage exceeded our expectations which was a lovely surprise. Loved the view and beautiful natural gardens. Everything you would want is found in the cottage. The fireplace can't be beaten and the breakfast hamper and cheese platter we ordered was a real treat.

We stayed for two amazing nights nestled high up in the Silky Oak Cottage over looking the beautiful Lake Baroon. This place is absolutely breathtaking! The cottage was immaculate and had everything you could need for a short stay including a view you will never get tired of! We felt like the only two people there which made the stay all the more amazing! I will definitely recommend this place to all my family and friends!
Thank you for having us!

We stayed in the Balinese Cottage on our Wedding night and the night after. The accommodation was amazing. Everything was perfect with so much detail put in to the cottages and amenities. The shower and spa was a new level of luxury and the view each morning was unbelievable! The bed was also massive and really comfortable.

My wife and I stayed at the Balinese Cottage for the first few days after our wedding. It was an absolutely amazing cottage - with a wood fire, spa bath, chocolates on arrival, a beautiful breakfast basket and cheese platter.

We really recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a romantic place to stay on the sunshine coast hinterland. It is a truly beautiful place to stay.

We have just returned from our stay in the Balinese Cottage at Misty View Cottages celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and we are blown away by how relaxed and rejuvenated we feel.
We were greeted by Colin, lovely guy, nothing too much trouble.
The cottage is just gorgeous, amazing view of Lake Baroon, and yes we got to experience the Misty View of the clouds rising from the lake of a morning. Breathtaking.
From the Balinese Four Poster bed, to the comfy lounge, fabulous spa, and the wonderful double shower, surrounded by glass, just like showering in a rainforest. The bed was so comfortable, and the bathrobes and slippers were luxury.
It is so secluded and private, no sounds but the birdsong from the adjacent rainforest, especially the whipbirds.
The breakky and dinner hampers were plenty and lovely fresh produce.
What we enjoyed most was the ambience to allow you to become still. With such busy lives, it is great to know we have found a paradise we can return to do just this.
Make sure you pop in to Montville and wander the shops, an absolute delight.
Thank you again for your wonderful stay, we loved every minute...

Room Tip: Definitely try and book the Bali Cottage.

My husband and I stayed in the Red Cedar cabin for one night in March to celebrate our anniversary. We have previously stayed in other 'treehouses' in Montville and were particularly disappointed with them, which also gave us lots to compare this place to. We were checked in by Colin who drove down to the cabin to show us around. It's really modern and beautiful inside, with amazing views over the lake. Colin left us a breakfast hamper which was ample for the two of us for one day, and included bacon, sausages, fresh bread, mushrooms, yoghurt, juice and more! The cabin itself was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was very new and the bed was probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in.

It rained the whole time we were there but it just made it more beautiful to sleep there! The cabin was so secluded we felt like we were the only ones there. Don't worry about getting the Balinese cabin, you will feel like you are the only people around no matter where you stay.

There were a couple of things I thought could be improved though - take this as constructive criticism!
1. Shower caps in the bathroom would be appreciated.
2. There is no roller blind in the lounge area which makes sleeping in difficult if light tends to wake you. It would be impossible to make the entire cabin dark but a roller blind would help.
3. It was cold while we were there, but there wasn't enough small fire wood to get a fire going. We used all the little twigs very quickly and the huge logs provided didn't quite catch. Some medium sized pieces would be appreciated. There is a heater in the room which we ended up using but of course a log fire is far more romantic!!
4. There are no TV channels - you can watch a DVD but not TV. While this wasn't an issue for a night I think we would've been craving some news after a few days. So stock up on DVDs before you go to your cabin so you don't have to go back to reception.
5. Like other reviewers, having to wash your dishes and put them away, especially when checkout is at 10am, is unexpected in this price range. Also, I wonder how clean the people before me have been so I wash them before using also, doubling my efforts!!

None of these things would deter me from staying again, in fact I can't wait to go back one day soon. Compared to previous treehouse accommodation in the area this was so much better. I just hope that they keep their standards to this level always and remain in this boutique range of accommodation.

Hi Antsuz78,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for our Red Cedar Cottage. We're glad you found your cottage to be modern and and were impressed with lake views. We're delighted you thought the bed was very comfortable and that you very happy with the breakfast hamper. We're happy to hear that you felt your cottage was so secluded that you felt like the only ones there. With only four cottages nestled on 20 acres, all our cottages are very private and secluded.

Thank you for your constructive feedback on the areas you thought could be improved, we strive to continually improve and will take the issues you mentioned on board. We would like to respond to a couple of them:

Shower caps - there are normally shower caps in the bathroom cupboard under the sink, I apologise if they were missing from your cottage during your stay.

Smaller firewood - thanks for bringing this to our attention, this is good feedback for the beginning of the winter months. We will make sure there are a variety of sizes available as a log fire is certainly more romantic that the reverse cycle airconditioner.

TV channels - We are a little confused with this one, all the TV's in the cottages have full reception to the local Brisbane channels. We have double checked the TV in your cottage after your departure and confirmed all stations were working, however we may need to provide better instructions for the use of the TV.

Washing of dishes - All our cottages feature built in dishwashers to ensure the dishes are washed hygenically each time. Sometimes guests will put the dishwasher on and not have time to put them away prior to their departure and this is ok. Based on your feedback we will reflect this information in our guest book.

Thanks again for the review and the invaluable feeback, we look forward to welcoming you back to Misty View soon.
Warm Regards.
Colin and Donna
