Reviewed 12 August 2014

Such a beautiful relaxing step away from the outside world. The cottages are large and private and the spa, log fire, luxurious bedding, fluffy robes, heated towel racks, private verandah and immaculately clean and well equipped cottages are all wonderful. But I have to say the most outstanding difference is that the hosts, Aryna and David are genuinely vested in making you sure you enjoy your stay. They are so accommodating and so willing to help with drop offs to restaurant or in any way, including restocking the firewood when we went crazy and burnt way too much on our first night there. The breakfast hamper was delicious and so were the home made touches in the BBQ hamper. The little touches made you feel welcome and the port, delivered little treats, and chocolates were all so lovely - you really feel quite pampered. There are certainly a lot of places to stay at Montville but this is the one you must try first and guaranteed you will return. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you so much for such a wonderful breakaway.

Hi Nola and Frank. Thanks very much for taking time to review The Falls. We thoroughly enjoyed you as guests. It is wonderful when a couple relishes their surroundings and brings such a positive attitude with them on holiday. You very ably summed up the facilities and cottages and your compliments on our service mean a great deal. Given the number of places you have stayed at - and reviewed - your recommendation of The Falls is humbling. We'd love to see you here again. Aryna and Alan

My husband and I came here to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. We wanted private, romantic and peaceful - The Falls Rainforest Cottages certainly delivered. Minutes away from Kondalila Falls, The cottages are in a rainforest setting with a walk down from the main house to access the cottages. Alan and Aryna were great hosts, even driving us to Lake Barroon to begin a hike on Saturday morning. The hampers were out of this world - the breakfast hamper had everything you could possibly need, and the dinner hamper was amazing. We were starving after our hike, and the dinner hamper contained one of the tastiest meals I have eaten in a long time. The little touches made the stay special, from the fresh roses, to the chocolates and even a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary. We had such an amazing time - I know Alan and Aryna are new owners, and are going to do great things with the cottages.

We have been coming to Montville for 8 years and staying in various different cabins in the region. In most when we arrive one of us walks in pays, is given a basket and we leave and don't see the hosts again until we hand in our keys back when we leave. This was most definitely not the case at The Falls Rainforest Cottages. Alan and Aryna are the most accommodating hosts you will find in Montville they go above and beyond to ensure everything is just right for you and that you are happy in every aspect of your stay. The cabins are beautiful large and well maintained the grounds are gorgeous and at just a short drive into Montville or to an even shorter drive to the Kondalilla National Park it is in the perfect location. We highly recommend The Falls for your next get away and when Alan offers to make you coffee every morning definitely take him up on that off. Thanks for a wonderful week we will be back next year.

Kirstie and Jamie, thanks so much for taking the time to review The Falls. You were wonderful guests, spending a full week with us. Your happiness, your great senses of humour, your positive attitude to all you encountered made meeting you both a breath of fresh air. Our situation, being within a few hundred metres of the Kondalilla Falls and a couple of kms of Montville really is the best of both worlds. Drop in for a coffee any time. All the best. I booked this to have a romantic weekend away with my girlfriend with the intention of proposing. When I spoke to Aryna and Alan they were more than helpful. They bent over backwards to assist with preparing the cottage for the most beautiful proposal. They covered the cottage with flowers, candles, lit the wood fire for us and had champagne in an ice bucket with a cheese platter to celebrate. I could not have asked for more. The hamper was delightful and my fiancé had the most amazing time. They were able to assist with booking dinners and lunches around the Montville area. The cottage itself was secluded, peaceful and clean. Large spa to relax in and great fire place. The back balcony had a brand new Weber BBQ and a picturesque outlook. We cannot thank them enough. There is no doubt we will be visiting again.

I had booked this as a surprise for my partner's birthday and what a fabulous surprise it was. Aryna and Alan were the most gracious and thoughtful hosts. And the room and the surroundings were outstanding.

Set down in the midst of the green, peaceful forests , our private and beautiful cottage was absolutely amazing

Everything was thought of , the lovely timber floors, beautiful spa, warm wood fire, comfy bed and amazingly peaceful view on the deck. The little things that make it more special , chocolates and port in the room, the candles,FRESH ROSES ,music, towel warmer, fluffy housecoats that we lived in all evening !

The food!!!! We ordered the BBQ pack to have a romantic dinner , was scrumptious!! The breakfast hamper - had everything - fresh eggs, bacon, homemade bread, muesli, yogurt , fresh fruit and more !!

We woke up in the morning and there were fresh croissants and danishes to enjoy with our local coffee. They had thought of everything.

Alan and Aryna let us have a peek at the special cottage they had decorated for a surprise wedding proposal - candles and roses everywhere ! SO romantic!

The only thing we would change next time, because there will be a next time, is we will stay longer.

Thank you Aryna and Alan for the beautiful hospitality.Michelle and Derek.

Room Tip: All of the cottages are private, beautiful and peaceful.

Hi Michelle and Derek. Aryna and I are thrilled with your report. Cottage proposals are wonderful to host - it is a real privilege to play a small part in a couple's commitment - and to experience the happiness and appreciation is really rewarding. Birthdays, anniversaries, proposals elopements and weddings are real Montville romantic fare. We are especially pleased that you'd love to return to the Falls. See you soon...

We immediately feel in love with 'The Falls' as we drove down the driveway to check in. A beautiful Queenslander overlooks the rainforest with sweeping views over the valley below. Our first surprise was the very warm welcome from Alan; followed by the offer of a fresh coffee personally made by him as we relaxed in reception. The cottages are located at the bottom of a cascading hill, which you access by a wooden boardwalk. Just getting to the cottages is half the fun, and the fact that vehicles are not generally allowed down to the cottage area, simply adds to the peace and harmony. Apart from the odd bull bellowing from across the valley, the only sounds you can hear are the whistles of the birds, the odd possum scurrying across the roof and the bush turkeys making their nests. The cottages themselves (six in all), are very well appointed, including a spa bath, balcony overlooking the valley and a BBQ; and best of all is the small touches such as a small carafe of port, chocolates and candles for that romantic touch.
The cabins are within 5 minutes drive to the restaurants and shopping of Montville and not much further to all the Hinterland has to offer. I would recommend a drive to Maleny for a little more shopping and a bite to eat. There are a plethora a coffee shops and cafes to choose from. Also the winery (shaped like a wine barrel) just down the hill from the turn off to Mary Cairncross Park is also worth a visit. A little unique and a good photo opportunity. If you are into Pizza I would suggest dropping into Mapleton (about 10 minutes from The Falls), where you can have a pizza overlooking the vista below which stretches to the ocean and overlooks Mt Coolum (the second largest monolith in the world).
If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, yet want to be within a handy drive to the restaurants, shopping and sights of the Hinterland, then 'The Falls' is the place for you.

Thanks Steve for your positive review. It's been a month since your visit and The Falls has been a hive of activity. We've added extra touches such as surprise freshly baked croissants and danishes to supplement our cottage breakfast basket and also provide assistance with guest luggage delivery to and from the six cottages. We now welcome guests not only with a café quality cuppacino, but also with iced water and fresh orange juice. We've finished a repaint of the entire Queenslander manor house and the cottages, have installed optimal TV reception and have now completely relandscaped the gardens in preparation for spring. Our brand new state of the art Norwegian wood burners and new Weber BBQ's are going down extremely well with guests. In a month we'll open up the main Queenslander - for bridal and / or friendship groups of up to four couples. The Falls Montville is now a superlative corporate / wedding retreat for up to 20 pax and we've just received our first booking for the whole property for a family reunion. Thanks, Steve, also, for your constructive detail on activities, resources and attractions close by. Your review is both comprehensive and useful. Alan and Aryna

Thanks Liesl for taking your time to review The Falls. Your recommendation that couples re-connect, re-energise and relax at our retreat is exactly what we'd like our guests to feel. The hinterland is a splendid destination - to leave a busier world and immerse the mind and soul in rest and rejuvenation. It was a pleasure to host you both and we'd love to see you again.
