A lovely pub, nice welcome. The Dressed crab salad was absolutely delicious. Apparently the mushy peas were very good too and not out of a tin! Staff were friendly.

“Excellent food and real ale”
Reviewed 18 April 2014 via mobile

We had excellent, well cooked traditional British food served clearly freshly cooked. We had fish and chips, steak and ale pie and Gannon and chips. This was all washed down by Brakspear ales which were well tended and full of flavour. The landlord was friendly and happy to chat about local news.

“Love this place”
Reviewed 28 March 2014 via mobile

Stopped here twice during a narrow boat holiday. First for drinks and dinner and later for lunch. The barman showed us how to play bar billiards which we then enjoyed for a few hours, accompanied by some nice ales. Dinner was excellent and lunch (brie and bacon sandwiches) were delicious. Nice atmosphere and beer garden.

We had dinner at the John Barleycorn while staying in Goring. The food was freshly prepared and of good quality. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very cosy. We enjoyed our visit very much!
