“A welcome stopover”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

We stayed here for one night while walking the Thames Path. The hotel was easy to find and we had a lovely room overlooking the High Street. The room was beautifully presented and the had everything we needed. The shower was very welcome after an 11 mile walk!

Our stay included a continental breakfast. When we arrived in the dining room the following morning, the waitress asked if we had been disturbed during the night. (We had in fact been awakened about 1:30am by other guests returning to there room speaking loudly in the corridor right outside our door. This was annoying but not so awful as to make a complaint - it was a Saturday evening and perhaps not totally unexpected.) When we said yes, we had been awakened by people in the corridor, the waitress said the owner of the hotel had asked her to offer us a full English Breakfast at no extra cost by way of apology! It was unexpected as we had not complained but was most welcome and we were well set up for another day's walking on the Thames Path.

We really felt this was above our expectations and would like to thank the owner for this. This is good service and the sort of thing that causes customers to come back and give good recommendations to others.

We stayed two nights at the White Hart, Cricklade in June. We were with 18 & 16 yr old g'kids.
The staff were very friendly & helpful as we planned our Thames Path walk. The rooms were comfortable and food was delicious. We bussed from heathrow to Swindon & taxied to Cricklade. I left my I-pad on the bus. The White Hart owner called the bus company and learned we could meet the bus as it returned thru Swindon from Bath. He drove me to Swindon, we met the bus & I recovered my I- pad. I live in Alabama & folks here are known for good deeds called southern hospitality. It was wonderful to experience Cricklade hospitality.
We plan to take two other of our g'kids to the White Hart & more Thames walking.

Arrived on foot from Thames Path to a lacklustre welcome in a slightly dingy bar. Young man at bar seemed mostly concerned with getting us to pay in advance, yet seemed unable to resolve a faulty invoice overcharging one of our party for a surplus breakfast.
However, the rooms were clean with comfortable beds and white bedlinen and towels. While the evening bar menu was not too exciting, the buffet breakfast was substantial with croissants, ham and cheese as well as juice and cereals.

Stayed here for 3 nights on business on a room only basis @ £45 per night
The hotel is situated on the high street with limited parking at the rear although these is also Some on street parking and a free public car park across the road.
Received a friendly welcome and given a double room at the back of the hotel room 12.
The room was clean and tidy with an en suite bathroom
The bed was quite hard for my liking and could not open the bathroom window but for the money was great value.
Would also prefer better locks on the door as standard yale locks
Did not eat at the hotel but saw that breakfast was £12 which seemed a little steep for the hotel/area.
Would use again if in the area

After finding the hotel online we had a look through their online menu. The menu had lots of meals that looked great and we decided to visit. On arrival it was quite quiet and initial service was ok. On receiving the menu it was not the same as the online menu and it was more expensive than the online menu! The menu we received had very limited items on it compared to the online menu. After finishing our starters that were what I would class as general pub grub it took them a good 10 minutes to clear the table. Our mails arrived about 5 minutes later. The main meals were again what I would class as general pub grub and should have been better for the prices charged. After finishing our mail meal it took at least 15 minutes for them to take our plates away. We then decided not to have a desert as the other courses took so long. Overall it was not a great experieience and did not live up to its other recommendations.

Stayed for 2 nights over the may bank holiday weekend. Rooms were nice, comfortable beds, very clean. Food was very good, the usual pub grub plus kangaroo and ostrich! No food after 3 on Sundays but other places in the town serve food all day. Service was friendly but seemed a little disorganised. Good location for visiting Cirencester, free parking at the hotel.
