We only stay at hotels like this as a treat and even with the late deal we received we still thought the hotel was overpriced. There are some lovely things about the hotel - good rooms, nice location but for the money I think we expected more - tables in lounge areas hadn't been wiped after people had left, dirty hand print on our bedroom wall etc. We ended up staying in a room that should have been £400 a night and I just don't think it's worth anywhere near this much.

Yes as people have mentioned, it is on the pricey side. However, the staff were incredibly friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay as relaxing as possible. Food was great, and there was a wide range of activities available, such as tennis and mountain biking (they provided almost brand new, high spec mountain bikes free of charge). Would recommend visiting the spa too, had an excellent massage and enjoyed using the pool and sauna. Would definitely return.

Yes, its very expensive. Now I've got that over with I should say that it is also the most relaxing weekend break I've ever had and well, well worth the money. I couldn't fault anything, from the staff who were delightful and friendly to the amazing food (much of which is picked from the garden) to the spa which is small but beautifully designed with high quality treatments (although they tend to be of the relaxing rather than scientific/iron our the knots nature). The only small problem were one group of very noisy guests who were loud, brash and disruptive at meal times. This was in no way the hotel's fault and the maitre d' dealt with them very well.
The rooms are huge (we stayed in the stable yard area) with the biggest Turkish-style bath I've ever come across, huge TV, free minibar etc etc. We were going to use the private cinema but decided to stay in our room in the end as it was so lovely.
We had dinner in the Village Pub one night which was delicious (although busy) and a nice contrast in style to the equally yummy food at the hotel.
Highly recommended.

We spent a very relaxing night here with the Sunday spa deal. As it was a good rate we paid the extra supplement for the secret garden room. This is a totally private, light, airy room with a small walled garden. As the weather was kind to us we sat out in our own little space. The decor is clean and contemporary with a bath at the foot of the bed and a fantastic double shower in the bathroom. We never heard a thing and I had the best nights sleep I have ever had away from home.
The spa is lovely, good treatments and a wonderful warm outdoor hydrotherapy pool.We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the restaurant followed by an equally good breakfast. The staff and service were faultless and we would definitly return.

Room Tip: Ask them to email you a bedroom portfolio to download, it shows all the bedrooms.

We have stayed at Barnsley House a few times now, every time in a Stableyard Suite. From the moment you pull up the drive you relax. The staff are excellent and friendly, the food is fabulous and the rooms are amazing. The perfect place to get into a dressing gown and curl up with a movie, or have a luxurious bath in the huge tubs, or have a facial in the fantastic spa. I absolutely love it and can't find fault...maybe that it's quite pricey... but if they would let me move in I would!!

Room Tip: The Stableyard Suites are split level and awesome

What a gorgeous, relaxing, stylish and intimate hideaway. Food is fantastic both at Barnsley House and the Village Pub. The little heated pool and the sauna and steam room are wonderful for relaxing. It was our third visit and we are already planning the fourth.

The service is very good, the staff were very efficient and nothing was ever a problem, the accommodation was great and the whole atmosphere just makes you feel very comfortable.

Small and adequate spa

Very much enjoy our stay and very much recommend this hotel.
