The Five Alls
Ranked #4 of 10 Lechlade B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 18 November 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights. Five Alls is a very nice inn with some quirky , interesting furnishings, it is in a good location, close to Lechlade and Burford. The owners and all staff were very welcoming and charming. The restaurant had a very interesting menu and was so good that we chose to eat there both evenings. However, the rooms are small; ours was not large enough to accommodate a wardrobe or drawer unit. We had a few wall hooks and two very small desk drawers so effectively clothing had to remain in a suitcase. Also, as this is an inn it was rather noisy in the bedroom until after closing time. In view of these limitations the nightly rate of £110 per room for bed and breakfast seemed rather high.

Four of us, two couples, stayed there in November 2013.
It's a gastro-pub with several rooms.
The pub is in a small village about 3 miles from the historic town of Lechlade.
There's a warm welcome from the staff and from the log fire.
The rooms have en suite and are very comfortable. Good quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided. Ideally, I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
The bar is good and the three real ales were served in excellent condition. The Oxford Gold was, for me, the pick.
The restaurant had an interesting menu, with plenty of choice for those staying more than one night. The seafood linguine starter was stunning with beautifully cooked mussels and prawns. The lamb tajine was excellent with lovely depth of flavour and the hot sauce served in a separate dish so as that the diner could decide themselves how much chili-heat they wanted.
The wine list was very good too.

A gem in a small village super starters, the shrimps are fantastic. Good choice of mains, the plaice fillet is absolutely superb as are all the mains. Sweets a good selection and the price not cheap but good value with the attentive service. We live 180 miles away but have been six times on separate Cotswold visits. You won't be disappointed

Nicely furnished but somewhat spartan room and welcoming but inattentive staff and hence a score of 8 rather than the 9 or even 10 it easily could be. Not that impacted on us but as a note to others they don't serve food (not even a sandwich) on Sunday evenings and the bar shuts at 9.

We were on our annual river holiday and had heard this was a good restaurant. Did a bike ride from the river around the area on the way. It is truly a most beautiful part of the world.
Very glad we had booked a table as the place was heaving.
The staff were very welcoming, decor very pleasing , wine list excellent and food exceptional.
We will definitely return and have recommended to many friends who unsurprisingly all seem to have heard how great it is

We stayed here for one night during July. The rooms were luxurious: great decoration, fantastic shower. However they weren't matched by the service, which was patchy at best.

On arrival, during 30 degree weather, the barman showing us to our room told us that our room was very hot, and offered to get a fan in place to cool it down. We thanked him for this, as the room was indeed unbearably hot. When we returned to the room that evening no fan was in place, and when we asked the manager, she responded that "he was going to get a fan. But didn't", and shrugged her shoulders, entirely unfussed and walked away. Sleep was therefore impossible in the sauna of a room, and the attitude of the manager left a poor taste in the mouth. We wouldn't stay there again.
