We have just returned from 3 nights spent at The Plough and would like to say that we cannot fault the Inn at all. The location is good, tucked away, close to the Thames Path, and near to other lovely villages, the rooms were full of character, clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and the staff were all lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. We will definitely return to The Plough.

Perfect end to a hard day spent cycling through the Cotswolds. Hidden away in the village of Kelmscott - great beer, good food (portions almost too large), comfortable bedrooms. Friendly locals. Lovely to wander through the village and down to the Thames - very peaceful at this point in its course. Looking forward to returning.

We booked a 2 day break at The Plough and arrived on the 13th June. We had room 5, The Buscot, fair sized room, overlooking the pub garden, shower en suite. All very clean and the shower is very powerful if you want it to be, I do. The food is excellent, on the first night we only had the fat chips, which are great, the second night we had the Cajun Chicken burger, which is served in a Foccacia roll with skinny or fat chips and salad, again very good. Breakfast each day was fresh and cooked to your taste and I couldn't fault it, and I do like my Full English.

As a previous reviewer said the restaurant setting looks lovely with the branches and twigs going up from the floor across the ceiling and the fairy lights intertwined, I can imagine in the winter it is very cosy with the log fire going.

The area around The Plough is outstanding from the Thames path to Kelmscott Manor and the town of Lechlade which is just 3 miles away. I'm sure there is more to see but we only had the 2 days.

A special mention to Josie (with the parrot) she is extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble and she made us feel very welcome.

The only down side was the fact that room 5 is directly above the pub toilets and the doors tend to slam whenever someone goes in or out, but as they close at 11pm this shouldn't be a problem unless you intend going to sleep before then. All in all we were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate recommending The Plough.

What do you picture when you think of a weekend in the Cotswolds? A quaint retreat down a country lane? , an old Cotswold stone village pub serving good food?, creaky floorboards, thick walls and lots of character? Yes The Plough has all these ingredients and more. Very friendly and laid back staff where nothing is too much trouble add to the experience. Yes the rooms may lack a few normal extras like shaving mirrors, sockets and hairdryers, parking is in the lane and of course with the traditional thick walls a poor phone signal but other than that you would struggle to find anything to really complain about. A really nice place tucked away in the Cotswold as someone once said 'perfick'

my husband booked this as a suprise for my 43rd birthday. Myself my husband and my 12 year old daughter arrived at the hotel to be greeted by Callum who was the perfect host, chatty and down to earth which is what we like. The setting was perfect, small village by the river, nice people, beautiful countryside, and peacefull. The rooms were clean and tidy and the family room was spacious with a double bed and two singles with a smart decor and modern bathroom. We paid £79.00 for two nights bed and breakfast with afternoon tea on one of the days. The food was outstanding and plentiful, great after a hard days walking. The resturant itself was beautiful with branches of fairylights around the room. The staff were amazing, always on hand and willing to go the extra mile to please. I would highly recommend this spot for a visit to oxford as is very close by and for those who wish to explore the outdoors. Great weekend, thanks to all it made my birthday.

Room Tip: We used the family room as it was what we required but they also have rooms with four poster bed for those seeking a more romantic weekend and they accommodate dogs for animal lovers who don't want to leave their pets at home.
