“Lovely way to learn new skills and make new friends”

Dancing Trousers Cookery School
Reviewed 24 February 2018

Did the curries of the world course today, with 8 other like minded people.
What a gem of a place. Learnt lots of new skills in an informal environment and the curries tasted amazing. Everyone gets to participate and then you all sit down together to eat the fruits of your labours. Alex and Peter were extremely knowledgeable and extremely lovely hosts and tutors. Can’t wait to join you on another course soon.

Thank Jennifer G

Even though this was my second visit to Dancing Trousers, it still exceeded my expectations! Fantastic welcome from Alexis and the wonderful Vanda, we then got to work prepping ingredients and hearing about Thai food. We made some fabulous dishes including Thai Green Curry, Tom Yam soup, Pork & Prawn Satay, and an amazing mango rice pudding. Superb facilities, great fun and another wonderful experience shared also by my Son & Dad, huge thanks again Alexis. Already looking forward to the next time!

I attended the Teatime Treats class while on holiday in the Cotswolds. The most difficult part was finding a last minute taxi (as I wasn't aware of the taxi process out here). Everything else was simply delightful. I felt welcomed and included even as I was attending the class solo.

The directions we're very easy to follow along and it was so nice to have everything pre-measured so that you could concentrate on technique.

10/10

Just spent another wonderful morning with Alexis at her fabulous cookery school. So lucky to have this nearby. We made Chelsea buns, divine salted caramel brownies and stem ginger cookies. Alexis is an amazing teacher, and everything is so well organised you just spend the whole time cooking. Highly recommend this and will be looking out for other courses too.

This was my second visit after a Focaccia & Italian evening a few years ago, and was prompted by seeing a poster in the window of Sue Shop, the Oriental supermarket in Witney.
After a meet & greet, not long as there are only 8 of you in the group (and by chance I already knew 3 of them!), Alexis (director / owner / chef / entertainer), ably supported by kitchen wizard Vanda, gets you working on prepping your ingredients and understanding the principles of Thai food - balancing the key flavours. Everyone gets to do some peeling, chopping, pounding, mixing and stirring until lo and behold we had prepared Thai Green Curry, Tom Yam soup, Pork & Prawn Satay with an amazing and simple satay sauce, Som Tam green papaya salad and fresh mango for the glutinous rice pudding. One of the key differences between this and other similar courses is that rather than just tasting things as you go along, once all the prep and cooking is sorted you sit down to a lovely 4 course meal in Alexis's beautiful home - the meal is worth the price, never mind the experience!
There are many different courses available, some are a few hours in the evening, others take all day - thoroughly recommended and I will be working my way through some of them next year
