“Lovely boutique hotel with fantastic staff!!”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Highworth as our close friends were getting married there! We arrived on a very hot day with no problems and after a "tense" drive through the VERY narrow access we were amazed at what met us...

The space opened up to a beautiful paved beer garden with plenty of seating and sun shades making it feel like we were on our very own little holiday! We were met almost immediately by the manager Ben, offering to take our bags for us and we were shown up to our room "High Five" which was much more than we had expected! The bed was HUGE and comfy and the bathroom was lovely and very clean...very well styled and just to our taste! The day got better as other guests arrived in groups and we sat outside enjoying the weather with a nice cold drink! We could see that all the staff were going about their roles efficiently to make the day go as smoothly as it did and when asked for anything they were very polite and helpful! The ceremony was beautiful in one of the front rooms of the hotel and as the day went on our food was fresh and really tasty!

Overall, the stay was absolutely lovely and much more than we had hoped so we will definitely go and stay there again! The only down side was that the breakfast was too small, but that's just us being greedy! It was really good food so not a bad review by any means!

Thanks to all the staff for making our friends special day even better and smiling throughout the day until the early hours! We hope to see you again soon! N & J

This hotel was great, we had fantastic food, excellent service and everyone was so helpful and friendly. We were there for a wedding on the hottest day of the year and the hotel did everything possible to keep guests cool and relaxed, a most enjoyable stay and I would recommend to all.

We got married at the Highworth Hotel and also had our reception there on the 13th July, such an amazing experience and the staff were excellent. We could not fault the management team at all, they went above and beyond all expertations. There was never anything that could not be done and a great can do attitude from all the staff and team. The food was amazing and everyone loved the service and very high quality that came along with that. The bar staff were very attentive and a great selection of drinks on offer and excellent service. The team on the night before worked into the early hours getting the venue set up to the spec that the wife wanted and again nothing was was to much trouble. The rooms were all amazing and all our guests who stayed the night were down for the amazing breakfast the next morning. I can not thank the staff enough and sing there praises enough, such a perfect wedding venue with amazing management team that will go out of the way to make sure you have the most amazing wedding or stay at the Highworth Hotel! We will be back without a doubt!!! Thank you all so much

Room Tip: If you have a family or want some extra space, try the suites, they are slightly higher in price tha...

This place really has the potential to be a great hotel, just a shame some things aren't up to scratch.
Having no reception desk we found it very difficult to check in and out. Check out resulted in us giving our key to the manager as he was busy doing another task. Very unprofessional in this respect.
However, the rooms are beautiful and are furnished to a very high standard. Especially the bathroom. The beds were really comfy and we loved the drapes above the bed and the original wooden beams in the room.
We had dinner in the restaurant on one night of our stay as the restaurant is closed on a Monday night. The reservation had to be made with the only member of staff we could find .. who happened to be busy talking to another couple. We were told he would sort our reservation .. This didn't happen as we found out when we got to the restaurant the night. Again very unprofessional in this respect.
Dinner however, was lovely. The steak was perfectly cooked and the chips were presented in their own little frying basket, a very cute touch. The restaurant didn't seem very busy which was a shame as they have a lot to offer.
Breakfast is a bit of a shambles. No one is around to welcome you in so you have to just walk in and help yourself which makes you feel a bit rude. There was no one around to serve breakfast either .. You're just left to choose from leftover croissants and yoghurts. Probably best to give it a miss.
Overall, a nice place to stay and a nice location for doing things in the Cotswolds. Just a shame its let down by a few small aspects.

We got this hotel on secret escapes. For the money that we paid it was a really good deal. However, the management of the hotel was very disappointing. There was no reception and it took 15 minutes to find a member of staff. To get served in the bar took over 20 minutes. The room was well decorated clean and tidy. There are half price cocktails from 6 PM until 8 PM on Friday nights. This meant that there were no seats available and getting to the bar was a real effort. Dinner was lovely, however if you are a vegetarian totally totally disappointing. This also fed through to breakfast, and when asked if a vegetarian option was available, the answer was a straight no. There were no other options offered And there was a frown when asking for scrambled eggs on toast rather than the full English breakfast. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble when asked - although it normally took a long time to get what you asked for. There is no food offered after 2 PM although they can do you a toasted teacake, A scone, or afternoon tea. There is absolutely no signal for mobile phones in the area, although Wi-Fi is offered albeit intermittent. I would strongly recommend dinner at Rafu for an Indian restaurant the service was great and the food amazing. Overall I liked the hotel, however we were with friends that paid full price and I certainly do not feel that it would be worth the rack rate charge.

Stayed for two nights, beds were nice and comfy and the rooms were clean, only gripe was the shower head was broken and had to hold it to shower, and both TV's in the room were unable to get a picture, saying that, we would definitely stay here again

stayed for 4 nights on an offer from Secret Escapes,£55 a night including breakfast, one 3 couse evening meal pp & a bottle of fizz. So the price was amazing but we did have a few niggles. Had to move room 3 times, service was very hit & miss but always friendly, the problem was no-one knew anything!! if you asked someone a question about the room, food, where to eat locally etc they couldn't give you an answer!! Ben was great, thank goodness for him, also Abbey at breakfast. Matt was a great barman, the bar was always full. There was no tourist information anywhere in the hotel,no reception, the driveway to the carpark was very narrow so be careful, also not many parking spaces. On a busy main road so noisey at the front. we had a lovely time but there were things that were lacking but for the price we paid? Brill!!

Room Tip: We saw 4 rooms while we were there!! Room1 was at the front, large sunny really nice but noisey. Room...
