I would highly recommend this place. Liz provided a friendly and relaxed welcome, meaning I immediately felt at ease. I had a lovely 2 hour evening ride up through the olive groves and finished with a canter through hay fields. I am a relatively experienced rider and found my mount Chico to be impecably well behaved yet still very responsive and forward going, not your typical riding school pony. Definitely felt like a ride with an old friend and would love to revisit in the future.

Been too Sierra Pelada before for horse riding so knew I was going too have an enjoyable time with John and Liz. This time we were on motorbikes and leaned on their expertise on knowing the local area for the best roads some of which are the best biking roads I Europe. John is a biker himself so his help was invaluable. Top gear use the roads locally to road test so we were in for a treat. John didn't let down. Every road different and called for different demands just blown away by it all, the scenery spectacular the riding unbelievable.
Sierra Pelada are the specialists in a different kind of horses too. Booked for next year straight away. Thanks John and Liz.

Room Tip: Search local properties in Illora for letting cheap and the bars and food is cheaper. John and Liz w...

A really great trip. Brilliant few days. Authentic welcome, beautiful scenery, fit horses and a great atmosphere. myself and my girlfriend spent two days and nights at Sierra Palada riding and eating and talking. Liz welcomed us on the first day and asked us our preferences and what we wanted. She tailored the trip around us and we had a great time. Would love to return and meet all of Liz & Johns horses, dogs, cats, pigs, strays and everything else again. I'd highly recommend it for day trippers or people looking for a ranch experience for a few days.

What a gem of a place. We are a family of 6. Ranging from 4yrs up to 40yrs. The day was tailored to our needs. We booked the picnic treck which I recommend. Communication was fantastic and even arranged to change the day at short notice due to the poor weather forecast. A must if you are in southern Spain.

We (me, wife & son) were first time riders so a bit apprehensive at first, but no need to be. We took a one hour trek through the country side. Horses were really friendly and we were well looked after. Lovely ride through the hills and olive/cherry groves, fantastic scenery. Safety was not compromised, which was a big comfort and the briefing and advice by Liz was comprehensive and included a lot of interesting stuff.
Well worth a visit for something different for the novice, and the various longer programs/tours/picnics for those wanting a bit more than a short trek also looked really tempting.
Well recommended and we are looking forward to our next trip when we return, thank you Liz, not forgetting Spartan, Chico and Red.

We have been taking lessons with Liz since January and it is far and away one of the best activities that we have done! Starting at different levels of riding experience, Liz has been fantastic in accommodating and improving both of our abilities. Working with two of Liz's horses, Luna and Spartan, we have become familiar and very comfortable throughout our time taking lessons while getting ready to ride and on our rides on trails or in the paddock. We take the line 325 from Parque Fuentenueva in Granada to Illora and Liz picks us up at the bus stop, couldn't be easier! We have been to Liz's equestrian center 4 times and we have yet to repeat a trail, there are so many possibilities and they are all very scenic with the Sierra Nevada, Alcala la Real castle, the olive groves and the cherry blossoms. We are always accompanied by her adventurous puppies.Sadly, Beyonce, the pot-bellied pig, has never joined us on a trail ride, but she does enjoy visiting us in the paddock and stable area. We have 2 more lessons with Liz before we leave Granada. We have enjoyed this experience so much that it will be sad to have to say goodbye. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for adventure on their vacation in Spain!
