“Little Moroccan delight”
Reviewed 30 March 2013

We stumbled across this lovely small restaurant last night, I must say its not the most easiest restaurant to find. The food took a little while but I have to say it was well worth the wait it was mouthwatering, a real taste of morocco. we were even able to take our left overs with us because the portions are very big for one person. The man and his wife are very welcoming his wife is an AMAZING cook.

Having been in morocco I must say the dishes we experienced we're a lot more flavoursome then some of the ones we had in morocco.

“Wonderful food - a must”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

We visited this little delight last month. We found it by chance and were pleased we had time to order a meal for that evening as one really needs to reserve a. a table and b. your food.
The selection was mouthwatering to read and certainly did not disappoint.
We had salad, lamb tagine with cous cous, Chicken tagine with delicious veg, several glasses of wine and water and all for 51€
Service was friendly, food was delicious and I would drive for two hours each way to have another meal here. 10/10

“Nice Moroccan food in a back street location”
Reviewed 13 October 2012

No holiday in La Herradura would be complete without a Moroccan feast at La Sacristia; a tiny place tucked away in the back streets no more than a minute away from the church (there is only one church in town and it's very easy to spot so you should have no trouble finding La Sacristia).

It doesn't look much to write home about with four covered tables outside, a couple more inside and a few stools at the bar. The slightly tacky pictures of the various dishes on offer that have been posted up outside the restaurant may make you think twice about eating here but don't let this put you off because the food is well prepared, nicely presented and very tasty. It's a family run place so you will get a warm welcome and attentive service.

If you want to get a sense of what the cooking is like grab a stool at the bar, order a beer and you will be offered some tapas which will give you a good idea of what to expect from a main course. One afternoon, when we were doing a tapas "crawl" of the town, we dropped by and had a very flavoursome, substantial snack of fragrant rice and mini lamb burger.

Over the course of our visits we tried a few of the main course dishes which were all good or very good; the star was a very lovely sweet and savoury chicken pastilla which you will need to order a day in advance (this dish was €20 which was plenty for 2 when teamed up with the lovely Moroccan salad selection which cost another €16).

The only slight down side is that there is not much on the wine list - 4 reds and 4 whites - but you will get something drinkable for €12 or a little more.

“Gorgeous food”
Reviewed 13 October 2012 via mobile

We visited here the other night and were astounded at the tasty, flavoursome food. I am a strict vegetarian and they were very accommodating and the vegetable tagine was so full of flavour with a good variety of vegetables. The meat eaters loved their dishes of succulent lamb and chicken that just fell off the bone. The chef came out to chat to us at the end of our meal and spoke to us about himself. As the meals take a good 40 minutes to prepare it was recommended to us that we per order earlier and let them know what time we will arrive. Please dont be put off by the surroundings. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

“Fantastic Food!!”
Reviewed 8 October 2012

Someone recommended this restaurant to us and said not to be put off by the outside or inside the restaurant. The owner came to seat us as there was 8 of us and the restaurant is quite small. He was knowledgable about the dishes and gave us great advice on what to order. I have lamb tagine with cous cous and when it arrived the smell was gorgeous! The portions were huge and the meat melted in the mouth with the cous cous to soak up the lovely juices. We only got to go there once but would have loved to go back again!! Will definitely have a go at lamb Tagine myself but it won't be as good I know!!
