Beautiful location on the waters edge at Laguna de Apoyo, swimming in the lagoon is not to be missed although the beach is a bit stony. The owners and staff were exceptionally kind and considerate, personally helping us with awkward transport arrangements. Accommodation is simple but tasteful, we loved the natural wood floors in particular. We had an upstairs front room and the view over the lagoon from our balcony was gorgeous. Great place to sit in the evening after a day walking along the shore, swimming or lazing in one of the hammocks or swing seats. The food was excellent, fresh and prepared with care. The place has recently been refurbished by the owner using local resources as much as possible and we had the pleasure of being some of the earliest guests in a newly completed room.

Recommended without hesitation for the location and ambience, one of the nicest places I've been.

Room Tip: Front room overlooking the lake if you can

Surrounded by natural beauty, caring staff, good food and wonderful company, I actually feel like a had a vacation, my only regret is I didn’t stay longer.

This B&B is right on the shore of Laguna de Apoyo in an idyllic private setting. The house itself is built into the rock and has been refurbished by the owner. The Lagoon is tranquil, quiet, clean and said to have healing qualities. (You need to wear some type of water shoes, there are a lot of stones)

This is a very safe place to stay, safety is always a number one concern for me when traveling solo. (they lock the gates at night) There are hammocks to nap in, several outdoor spaces to just lounge around in, a unique outdoor kitchen where you can sit and have a coffee or a snack and spend time talking to other guests or the wonderful owner Serge. (he is really the reason I will be going back, truly lovely man) Also there is always clean fresh drinking water available. (bring your own water bottle so you can fill it up regularly)

The meals were mostly vegetarian and were served outside next to the water so that in the evening you could take in the vast panoramic view of the stars.

I had a room upstairs, which I loved. It was a really good size and very clean. It had its own bathroom with shower and lots of screened windows I could leave open to let the evening breeze in. There was an outdoor balcony with comfortable furniture so you could sit out there and read or just look over the water. I couldn’t believe how during the day it was beautifully warm and then in the evening it cooled off so that you could easily fall asleep just listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. (I do have to tell you when you leave the windows open you will hear monkeys and roosters but for me it was an important element of being right in the middle of a jungle).

I was able to take several tours from there and the guide and driver I had were so friendly, informative and accommodating. They really went out of their way to ensure you had a good experience. You could probably speak to the owner and see if he can arrange for someone to take you on a tour.

I would definitely recommend this B&B and I know you will enjoy the company of the owner Serge who did all he could to make my experience in Nicaragua an unforgettable one. It is a hidden treasure.

My husband and I spent an amazing 2 weeks at Casa Aromansse in January 2014. We arrived after dark and were struck by the beauty and amazing energy of the B&B; but nothing could prepare us for the beauty that awaited us at sunrise - Laguna Apoyo through the canopy of trees directly outside our bedroom window. The entire property is conducive to meditation, yoga, introspection, connecting with the surrounding nature and energy; all the things my heart and soul were craving on this getaway. The property is lovingly attended to by Serge and staff - we felt like we were saying goodbye to family when it was time to go. If you are looking for this type of experience for your next vacation, Casa Aromansse will meet those expectations and will find a place in your heart that will continue to warm you, long after you return home.

I was at this BB in mid January for a workshop. I was amazed that the house as it is built on the wall of a volcano. It spoke to me of paradise with the view of Laguana de Manaya. There is the swinging hammocks and the swing facing out over the water that just brings the idea of paradise and calmest to the soul. But, you need water slippers to walk into the water, it has a very stony bottom. The water is incredible. I swam early morning to see the sun rising and the evenings with the sun going down. The afternoons were relaxing in the hammocks, again experiencing the water and walking the roadways surrounding the property.

The food was vegetarian - for our workshop specifically. Three serving of delicious meals daily. I didn't get to experience yoga with Serg (owner), but he is a very accomplished instructor and would have loved one of this special treatments.

The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff very friendly and accommodating.

I cannot say enough for my wonderful incredible time I had at this wonderful resort. Except for the rooster(s) who don't just crow in the morning, you do need ear plugs.

Take a chance to experience this little resort, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: I had the room on the lower level facing out to the water with my own bathroom, with large windows...

Casa Aromansse is a truly wonderful place. From the beautiful location, to the delicious (mostly vegetarian) food, to the laid-back atmosphere, to the wonderful owners and staff, it was all around perfect for what I was looking for. I arrived stressed and tired from work and a long, cold winter, and left a week and a half later feeling totally rejuvenated. I spent much of my time there relaxing or napping in a hammock, swimming in the laguna, or taking part in yoga classes. Day trips to Granada, Mombacho and Masaya were also great.

The charm of Casa Aromansse is it's simplicity. It is not a five-star resort, but everything is well-taken care of. If you are looking to relax and not sweat the small stuff, this is the place for you. The value is also incredible.

I have traveled to many places around the world, and this is the first place I am definitely coming back to :)

(Note: if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs for the monkeys, dogs and roosters! They woke me up every day before sunrise, but didn't bother me much, as the fresh air and early nights made sure I got all the rest I needed).

Room Tip: Some rooms have detached bathrooms, and some are in-suite. Ask which rooms are available when you ar...
